I've got the Blues.

I love movies, this is no surprise. I usually try and see the Oscar nominated films and even the random ones that no one has heard about. And usually I look forward to watching the nominated flicks (although I admit I've yet to see The English Patient and I'm pretty sure I never will) however this year is a bit different.

I've already seen some of the movies I know are going to get nominated and ones that won Golden Globes, but the biggest one, the one everyone is talking about, the one that is breaking all sorts of records....Avatar...I have yet to see it and honestly I really really don't want to.

I know, I know if I see it I am bound to love it. I mean I didn't want to see Speed when it was in theaters, I was forced to go and look how that turned out? It was the first movie I ever saw twice in theaters and became my numero uno movie and propelled my love for Keanu and Sandra. But really, Avatar just screams Fern Gully and Pocahontas to me and everyone says how great it is in 3D, but umm confession, I hate watching movies in 3D because I have to wear glasses when I watch movies and yeah it gives me a headache, downer I know.

But with all of that said I am giving in, I will watch Avatar. I will find three hours to watch a bunch of blue people and hopefully I'll like it, but I make no guarantees. However it doesn't hurt that I get to admire this hot piece for some of it right?

helloooooo Sam Worthington.

So tell me, have you seen Avatar? What did you think?

happy wednesday!

Three weeks ago I was in your shoes. I did not want to see Avatar, but the word of mouth kept growing and I also make it my business to see all the nominated movies, and I really love Zoe Saldana and want to support all her films, so I went. And I really enjoyed it! But I wish I hadn't seen it in the 3D, it hurt my eyes, so feel better, you're not the only one who doesn't like seeing movies in 3D.

Ok, I thought it was great. I didn't particularly want to see it either. BF wanted to. And he just *had* to see it in 3D. So we went. And it was great. and really, I had 3D movies too, but it was AWESOME in 3D.

I was the same way. I was kind of interested, but I didn't want to sit in a theater for 3 hours. My boyfriend and I ended up going with some friends, and it's amazing. We didn't see it in 3-D, but it was still a great movie. Some of the most beautiful graphics I've ever seen. So give it a chance! It may surprise you!

I feel the same way you do. I have yet to see it because it just doesn't seem like my kind of movie, but I feel as though I have to. Because it's been so popular, and so record-breaking, and will be nominated, I'm sure, for many awards. But still, not high on my list. I DO plan on seeing it however, so let me know what you think!

Yes, he is hot. haha! As soon as I got home from the movie I googled him... on my boyfriend's computer.

I reviewed Avatar after I saw it here:
http://thewonderworrier.blogspot.com/2010/01/movie-review-avatar-in-3d.html

I hate 3D! I wear glasses too! I don't get a headache, but I can't seem to SEE the 3D effects too much! Our theatres offered 3D or regular (2D? I guess? lol), so if your theatre has both options, maybe just go for 'regular'? It's beautiful I'm sure without the 3D (which I didn't experience anyway, LOL).

And also, I was so sure it was NOT 3 hours long! It didn't feel super long. I look it up and do see now that yes, it was 2hours42minutes... but man. I never realized (and I guess I never looked at the time much the night I went to see it, LOL).

It's a good movie, I think you'll like it. But 3D is garbage.

I was literally dragged to the theatre to see it. I wasn't excited, I didn't care and I was making it clear that I was being forced.

And I LOVED it. 3-D gives me a headache but there are some parts of it that are pure magic, especially in 3-D.

I think you'll love it.

To be honest, before going to see the movie myself I was pretty skeptical... but like everyone else on this planet that I know, I ended up loving it. I hate the feeling of being on the Avatar bandwagon, but it's a really hard movie not to love. And helloooo Sam Worthington = wow. lol. Looking forward to your review on the movie :)

I have no interest in seeing Avatar either. I agree about 3-D movies too. I'd much rather see it in in imax-non-3D. Chances are I will never see Avatar unless someone turns it on and brings me lots of popcorn, orange soda, ice cream, sour gummy worms and macaroni and cheese.

Also...The English Patient. SO GOOD! Watch it!

I haven't seen Avatar.
Or Titanic.
I'm not sure I even want to see Avatar either.
Like you, I go see the movies as well but I'm very behind. VERY. But it's part of what we do for the Oscar party that we have!

(I haven't seen the English Patient either.)

Avatar was amazing! amazing!

I would be willing to bet good money that you will fall in love with it. I mean, if I liked it...

I was not overly excited to see Avatar, but I am SO glad I did... It was absolutely beautiful and actually a really good movie. I recommend IMAX 3D - the true IMAX with the giant screen if you have one near you...

You can see it without the 3D, but it was really amazing with it...

I'm with you...although the hype surrounding this movie is SO FREAKIN HARD to escape from.

My dad saw it and said it was incredible and even Oprah devoted part of her show one friday to discuss much she loved Avatar!

But doniree spoke about what she took away from Avatar's message and that really sparked my interest. Maybe I'll work my way into the theater sooner than later to see it.

I cannot stand 3D or IMAX movies....I get such a headache. I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in IMAX and not only did I get a headache....but I have nightmares of Johnny Depp's pores coming and attacking me in my sleep. Not a good thing.

I'll see Avatar when it comes out on video...but going to the theatre is just so expensive.

I like Avatar. I didn't love it. It is just like Fern Gully and Pocahontas and Dances with Wolves. You will watch the movie and think, "Haven't I seen this before?" The plot is horribly unoriginal.

The visual effects? AMAZING. It is one of the most gorgeous movies I've watched. James Cameron clearly focused all his time and energy into what the movie looked like versus what the movie was actually about. It is a movie that needs to be watched in the theater. You won't get the same impact on your TV.

But there is a reason it isn't up for Best Screenplay. Just sayin'

You really should watch The English Patient. I just recently watched it for the first time and loved it :)

We keep saying we'll go, but every time we COULD, the couch just seems so much better. I dunno... I'm just kinda "meh".

I've not watched it and I really don't want to, despite all the reviews that rave about it. It's just NOT My kinda thing. I'm too much of a chick-flick girl...

Oh and apparently January is a more depressing THAN EVER month this month because people are so upset that Pandora doesn't exist. Seriously???

Mind you, that guy is HOT!!!

I totally get this. I really just have no desire to see Avatar at all. I just can't get into it, no matter how awesome everyone says it is. Still, I drag myself there eventually...and I'll probably love it.

I don't have much of an interest in Avatar. And frankly, I'm kind of annoyed that technology beats out old fashioned good acting in the awards race. It's a new decade!

Britni said...

The reviews and everything for this movie are completely correct. We went and saw it, and it was incredible. The love story, technology, everything about it was amazing. If you are going to see it, go see it in the theater because the 3-D effect makes it the movie it is but there's something for anyone in this movie. You'll be missing out if you decide not to see it.

Hillary said...

I haven't seen it yet. I'm sure I will at some point. I just ... don't really care.

I enjoyed the 3D because it wasn't obnoxious, in your face. Also, all the wildlife is really beautiful and inventive.

And I must say, that I think it is one of the best movies of the year, for certain.

MH said...

OK, like you, I was not that excited about it. But considering the level of technology innovation JC had people CREATE for this movie, I figured I had to go.

Sure, the story is lame. Pocahontas meets Thundercats meets the Smurfs. But visually it's AMAZING. If 3D isn't your thing, go watch it on regular format, the big screen is probable enough to give you what you need...

SO, contrary to what I feared, it was not 3 hours of my life wasted, it was FUN.
Go for it. And tell us later...

I have to say, I didn't want to see this either, but did and am glad I did. The cinematic experience (no BS) was really amazing. Sure, I didn't LOVE the story but the experience of seeing it on the big screen was worth it because it's never the same on DVD
