One hot weekend.

Oh so remember when I said I had no plans this weekend? Yeah well I was sort of right. It was still sort of a doozy.

Friday: After a loooong day at work (only eight people in the office can make it drag on) I headed on over to Matt's mom's house in La Canada. Yes the same La Canada that is being encompassed by flames and massive smoke and wo. It was sort of crazy. We had some dinner, drank lots of wine, watched Yes Man (which I sort of really liked), caught some fire updates on the news and eventually some friends made their way over. Eventually we all took off and made our way to a veiwpoint where we could see all of the fires and everything, it was breathtaking. I only got one decent picture but man I can't even begin to describe all the flames and the view of the city and the pops we heard when power lines caught fire.

so crazy.

Basically it was a crazy night of inhaling fumes and watching the mountain burn. It was a little nuts.

Saturday: Slept in a bit (hark! I love sleeping in), then before we knew it we were off to check out some potential wedding venues. It was sort of exciting. I even think we found a place we both liked so that's sort of awesome. Afterwards we did some errand running, tried not to melt and relaxing for a bit before heading back over to Matt's mom's house. Oh yeah and this was what I saw going over there:

it looked like a bomb went off, so crazy.

Seriously, so crazy. We had dinner, watched after the house (it's not in immediate danger but we were there just in case). Afterwards we came home and played some Wii! Seriously we're Wii addicts, it's sort of awesome. So yeah we played some, had some wine, watched some TV and enjoyed the evening. Twas loverly.

Sunday: Slept in again (Hark to the second!) then did some errand running for my cousin's bridal shower with my mom, that I'm hosting next weekend, yes NEXT weekend, ah! (ohmygoshwhatdidIgetmyselfintoandwhydidIwaitsolatetoplanit?!). After shopping and gaping at the smoke still I came home to relax a bit, do some cleaning and some organizing and yeah, awesomeness. The only other thing I really did was go to my aunt and uncle's house for my uncle's birthday and then talk about the bridal shower (thank goodness for crafty aunts!). Then Matt and I spent the rest of the night hanging out and mentally prepping me for my week free of cheese, haha.

And how was your weekend? I hope if you're in SoCal you're free of fires and staying safe!

happy monday!

No Plans.

Did you see that? No plans. Yes it's true kidlets, I have NO PLANS this weekend. Well no set-in-stone plans that just haaaave to get done. But um, do you know how glorious this is going to be. I can sleep in, relax, do some wedding stuff, see some friends, drink some wine, relax some more, play some Wii, watch bad TV. Ah! I cannot wait.

I do not remember the last time we had a 'no plans' weekend. I feel like I've constantly been on the go for the past couple months and doing a whole lotta nothing sounds divine. It especially sounds divine since I've got plans from next weekend all the way to the middle of October, haha it's ridiculous, my life is ridiculous.

So yes, weekend I am ready for you and the no plans. Bring it on. I dare you. :)

two of my favorite things happening this weekend.
time with Matt.
wine.
for the win.

Any plans for you this weekend?

happy friday!

A cheese free week.

Am I crazy? Yes I think I am. The title of this post* is what I plan to do next week. Yes it sounds nuts and trust me, it is, but I think I can do it. And why do I even want to have a week without cheese oh glorious cheese....Project Bridesmaid.

My cousin's wedding is coming up October 10th and I have a dress to fit into, a dress I fear may be snug (I'm too afraid to go to her house and try it on again and have it be snug and have to get it altered, I refuse to alter a dress I know I can fit). I'm also planning on cutting out sweets (that would be easier if people stopped bring treats to work) and reserving the wine drinking for the weekend only. If I notice a difference with this on top of walking with mom and somehow possibly maybe getting back into the Wii Fit then I may just make it a continuing project. Or at least a 'have some self restraint project' for a bit. Because honestly, cheese is my weakness. And I eat way too much of it.

So wish my luck, I know I will need it. And hopefully I don't turn into a crazy person dreaming of mac and cheese and cheese and apples and pizza and ah! I'm salivating already just thinking about it all. But I can do it. I must do it. I will do it.

um that would be my heaven.

Anything you need to cut back? Any tips for me to trim some weight back? I'm all ears people.

*I have to give Matt credit it was his idea, but I officially said I'd do it. And go!

happy thursday!

Why I couldn't be a criminal.

So I watch a lot of crime/cop shows, Law and Order: SVU, Criminal Minds, CSI:, CSI: New York, Cold Case (sometimes), and Medium, yeah a lot. And I've come to realize that if I ever wanted to take up a life of crime, it just wouldn't work it for me.

1. I'm not intimidating looking at all.

2. I'm a horrible liar. So if I was interrogated I'd probably admit my guilt.

3. My hair sheds like crazy so most likely it would end up all over the crime scene and bam, they got me.

4. My hair is also huge and curly and easy to spot, ie I wouldn't blend in.

5. The sight of blood sort of grosses me out.

6. I drive like a grandma most of the time (so I could never be the getaway driver).

7. I'm pretty weak, so I wouldn't be any use knocking down doors or breaking windows.

8. Most likely I'd start sneezing in the middle of a break in and totally give myself away.

9. I shuffle my feet, which is loud and also makes me a slow walker, not very efficient in a life of crime.

10. If Elliot Stabler showed up on the scene I'd give myself up in no time, I mean how could I not He's Elliot Stabler!

oh yes, you can arrest me, haha.

So why couldn't you be a criminal? Or could you?

Howdy Hollywood.

Tuesday? Why yes it is. Hollywood news? Why yes I have it.
  • Starting off this week's Hollywoodness we have the ever adorable Levi McConaughey. Seriously this kid is precious and I can only imagine how cute his little brother or sister is going to be too.

    ohmygoodness he is too precious!!

  • Also looking all sorts of adorable is Nahla Aubry. And oooh la la she's being accompanied by her dad, Mr. Halle Berry, Gabriel Aubry. mmmmmadorable.

this is just all sorts of cuteness.

  • Also in the bebeness we have one of my favorite Hollywood couples, Taye Diggs and a very pregnant Idina Menzel. Seriously I bet this baby is going to come out of the womb singing, not crying but singing. Preferably "Seasons of Love" because um they were both in Rent and that would be awesome, haha.

    precious.

  • And moving on past the bebes to some Hollywood news that may be of interest: Melanie Griffith checked into rehab, there was some new news about MJ's death, Vibe magazine has been saved, Kel Mitchell is 31 today (Kel who you ask? Why yes, of Keenan and Kel fame, that Kel) and someone burglarized Lindsay Lohan's house (what'd they take? some leggings and spray tan? I kid, I kid).

  • I found what I want for Christmas. Twilight cutouts. Yes please!

I'll take an Edward please :)

Also in Edwa...I mean Robness, this post at LTR freaking cracked me up. But um I swooned at every picture. Obviously. This one in paticular. Swoon.

  • In TV news...
America's Best Dance Crew. So I don't know how or why I've started watching this show. Oh wait, yes I do. MTV plays everything on repeat 24/7 so I've got it at the most random times of the day. Anyhoo I gotta say, I sort of love Vogue Evolution. When they did the Beyonce challenge, it was all sorts of fierceness!

Project Runway. Another show I'd never watched before but I'm sort of fan. I'm also a fan of DVRing it because then I can just fast forward to when their outfits are done, because let's be honest, that's my favorite part. I don't know that I'll keep watching when my other shows come back but for now I'm curious about the rest of the season.

Real Housewives of Atlanta. How do I find this crap? Oh wait, because I was a lazy bum in between activities on Sunday. But um I laughed my way through this mess. Kim is ridiculous. And umm why/how is she friends with Michael Lohan? Most bizarre cameo ever. I sort of like NeNe too, she cracked me up. But yeah don't think this will be a DVR show, just a watch whenever nothing else is on kind of show, haha.

  • And in movie news...
Valentine's Day. Yeah that movie that has a bagillion actors in it. Well Jennifer Garner was shooting some scenes last week and she looked just adorable, because um she is (even when she's not with Violet). Just the cast alone makes me want to see this movie, I hope it's a good one.

  • And in music news...
Dead Man's Bones aka Ryan Gosling's band are going on tour! Now I can't say that I'll actually go to a show because heck Keanu had a band and I never got to see them perform. And um Ryan should probably just give me tickets anyways, since we're friends and all, haha. Oh and because he's just so hawt, here's some Ryan being Ryan:

    mmmmmhello.

Train, "Hey Soul Sister." After Renee's infamous 20SB Vlog Day post, this song has been in my head and I'm not complaining. It's pretty awesome. And I had no idea it was Train! I sort of love it.

  • Lastly in today's WTFness we have a story that I think is very Hollywood and very ridiculous. The wife of a man who's crypt is above Marilyn Monroe's is auctioning the spot off. And that's not even the crazy part, the bid is up to 4.6 million dollars. Say what!?! I don't get it, that's way too much money to spend on a crypt. And it's a little creepy that she's even auctioning off, but hey some people gotta make their money somehow, oy.

  • Oh wait one more order of business. Some more fabulous animals for you to vote for. My friend Jen's cat Ollie and Zoe's dog, Henry. Takes two seconds to vote so you should probably do it.

happy tuesday!

A weekend full of wedding.

Ohmygoodness what a great weekend. Seriously it's kind of ridiculous how fun of a wedding weekend I had, it just made me happy all over and even more excited for my own wedding next year (like I wasn't excited enough). So recap weekend here we go!

Thursday: Had a mini bachelorette party at my apartment for the fabulous bride. Then we headed off to the Standard for some dancing and good times, great way to start it all off.

oh how we love Laura, the bride.

Friday: Left work a bit early to head on over to Covina Bowl for the wedding rehearsal dinner. It was a great time to mingle with everyone, get to know some new people, listen to some fabulous toasts (I definitely got a little teary) and ultimately do some bowling! Um I love bowling and I love it even more when I get a new high score! My last high score was at Gianni's birthday and then I got my new best at his rehearsal dinner, I think that's just awesome.

oh yeah, 171 what's up now!

Saturday: Wedding day!! Matt left bright and early to help out (he was the psuedo best man and basically rocked it) so I had the day to myself. I lounged and relaxed a bit but then I was on a mission to get some new shoes to go with my dress for that night, so I as off and man was I sucessful, so sucessful I even got a new purse. I'm sort of in love:

oh how I love yellow. :)

Eventually I got ready and Matt's dad and brother picked me up and we were on our way to the wedding! I've know the groom, Gianni, since freshmen year of high school and Matt's known him since fourth grade, so basically we all go way back. To make things even more sentimental and adorable, Gianni introduced me and Matt, so to say we're all close friends is sort of an understatement. I couldn't be more happy for him and his now wife, Laura, I love them both and their wedding was all sorts of amazig. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

oh check out those handsome groomsmen.

oh and what lovely bridesmaids.

Husband and Wife!! Yay!

the high school kids, love it.

their first dance, precious.
and um love their names on the floor.

cutting the delicious cake, mmmm.

me and Jo getting down on the dance floor, haha.

Karen and I enjoying some wine and
some dancing, lovely.

everyone was dancing all night long, it was awesome.

Matt and I with the newlyweds!

me with the fiance :)

Gianni, Sean and Tim having a great time.

this pic makes me smile.

it wouldn't be your wedding if your car
didn't get decorated! Congrats!

So as you can tell from the pics it was a fabulous wedding. I had so much fun hanging out with my friends, getting all dressed up, dancing the night away and celebrating our friends' wedding. Congrats again guys, we love you! :)

Sunday: Met up with most of the wedding party peeps for a post-wedding brunch at the hotel. It was definitely just what I needed and it was fun to see everyone one last time. Eventually Matt and I were ready to head home so we said our goodbye and wished the newlyweds a fabulous honeymoon (they'll be gone a month! I'm so jealous!). The rest of the afternoon was a pretty lazy one for me which was nice and just what I needed. But later that night my sister and I headed over to West Hollywood for Nicole and Kerri's GAP Born to Fit party (I posted over at my review blog, so click the link, woo), which was all sorts of awesome.

So that was my weekend. I'm sort of tired just rereading it all, haha. But it was totally worth it.

and how was your weekend?

happy monday!

World travelers.

A couple nights ago Matt and I were talking about just up and going. Anywhere. I think I got butterflies in my stomach at just the thought of it.

We both want to travel, try living somewhere else, be a little crazy for a while and have some fun.

But we've got this little thing called a wedding coming up so world travels isn't really in the cards just yet. However, post wedding, post honeymoon, post save up some more money I think we might really do it. After everything next year I'd like to think that we really will up and go somewhere new. Maybe another state or even another country, even though neither one of us speaks another language. And not plan any of it (okay maybe some of it, who I am kidding, I'm a planner, haha). But just go. Maybe stop renting our apartment, store our stuff somewhere and just go.

And really? This makes me happier than I can even begin to convey.

Do you have any big travel plans coming up (I'm looking at you Nicole, haha) ? Have you done crazy spontaneous long trips? Any advice?

In the meantime this weekend's travels are taking us to our friends' wedding and I couldn't be happier for them.

happy weekend!

*ps. thank you for all your advice and tips about bridal showers yesterday, I'll definitely use it all!*

Sign me up for Bridal Showers 101.

So I think I've mentioned it before, but I'm the MOH (maid of honor) in my cousin's wedding coming up in October. And with the regular day of wedding and some pre-wedding duties comes planning the bridal shower. Ummm say what? One more time? Mic check?

Yes I love planning holiday parties and birthday parties but even though I'm a future bride (and I've been to two bridal showers lately) I'm pretty dang clueless.

Here are the facts:
  • The bridal shower will be mixed with family and friends both young (well 19 at youngest) and not as young (like aunts in their 40s/50s).

  • I'm having the shower Labor Day weekend, so it might be hot it might not be.

  • She'll be honeymooning in Thailand (I was thinking maybe a beachy theme or Thai food, but umm no idea).

  • It's a luncheon, so like noonish.

  • The shower is going to be at an Aunt's house.
For food I thought about doing some appetizers like spinach dip, fruit tray and chips or something. And for lunch maybe sandwiches and salad? But it just seems so boring, I need ideas people! And for dessert I think I'm going to make cupcakes or a cake or lemon bars or umm something awesome.

For decorations I'm completely clueless, I have no idea what to do. And favors? Ha! Help?

And for games, I don't want to go overboard or do too many. But I was thinking of a "newlywed game" where I ask her fiance questions about her and we make her answer them. And them yeah that's all I got. Help again?

Um so if you have any ideas, tips, free food please send them my way! I'll love anything you've got, this is quite the learning experience for me :)

And how appropriate is this comic? haha.

happy thursday!

The wolves are taking over Hollywood.

As we've learned in the past, Wednesdays are just as awesome for Hollywood updates as Tuesdays. Maybe not as amazing, but they're pretty awesome too. So without further adieu, here's today's Hollywoodness:
  • For this week's cute bebes we have Marcia Cross's adorable little girls, Savannah and Eden. Seriously they are just such adorable little girls. And playing with mom in the park is sort of precious:

man they are both just so darn cute!

  • Next up is another precious little girl, Stella McDermott. I admit, I sort of watched a couple episodes of Tori and Dean and umm they're kids are freakin adorable. And this little beach babe pic of Stella and Tori just made me melt a little bit.

    um adorable right?

  • Okay and because I couldn't resist and this picture is both adorable and zexy I just had to share Cam Cigandet and his little girl, Everleigh.

    ooh hellooooo.

  • Moving on from the bebes but to some other cuteness... In a recent interview with Women's Health Mila Kunis said some sort of adorable stuff about her boyfriend Macauly Culkin. Basically he's her "steady rock" and they've been together seven years and umm go them!

  • Oh and because I feel like he hasn't showed up enough on my blog, Orlando Bloom. He's all sorts of adorable and cute and I just want to go to a coffee shop and be hip with him.

    aren't you so hip?

  • Moving on from the hipness and on to the Twilightness. Oh what a great week for Twilight it was. The second and very Jacob-centric preview came out and ummmmm is it November yet!?! I sort of swooned a bit over this preview and may have watched it more than once. Like wo.

Also in Twilight and Jacob-centric news last week was a most fabulous EW shoot with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner and I may have squeeeed a bit at the pics and the behind the scenes clips. Sort of love it. But don't worry, I'm still team Rob/Edward :)

um love this pic and their cuteness.

okay I gotta admit she looks pretty fierce here,
    sort of love it

I can't believe this cuteness is not even 18 yet! haha.

  • And in movie news...
Apparently Tom Cruise is bored and Mission Impossible 4 is in the works. Now I'm not going to lie, I sort of love Mission Impossible and I own MI:2. But umm don't know that MI:4 is quite necessary. But I can bet I'll probably see it either way, I'm a sucker for some crazy action sometimes.

Also in sequel news, a second Wolverine movie is officially a go. Hugh Jackman is even going to produce this flick too. I sort of really loved Wolverine and I love the X-Men movies so I hope this movie lives up to its predecessors. Fingers crossed!

  • And in TV news...
John and Kate Plus Eight. I heart Aaden. Really that is all. He is just so freakin cute and adorable and ah! Heart him. And I can't believe I'm still watching the show, but the kids, oh the kids are just precious!

  • And in music news...
Miss Britney Spears did Letterman's Top Ten last night. And it was actually sort of funny. A little much at times, but I totally still laughed.

Also in musicness. I'm sort of really obsessed with Shakira's song "She Wolf." I can't stop listening to, tweeting about it, talking about it! It's ridiculous. It's not even all that amazing. But it's definitely keeping me dancing and umm you should probably check it out. And then love it. Then thank me later, haha.

  • Lastly in today's WTF news, we have another bebe story from a woman in Tunisia. A woman that is most definitely putting the Octo-mom to shame because she's pregnant with twelve, yes TWELVE babies!! I can't even imagine how big her stomach is or how that is even possible to have so many kids. But man, that is definitely WTF worthy.
*update: The woman is a fraud, she's not even pregnant! I think it still constitutes as a WTF story because um she has some serious problems*

Anything I missed? As always, let me know!

happy wednesday!

Quite a Swiss weekend.

So remember when I said I wasn't going to miss a day of blogging again? Yeah well I totally forgot that I wasn't getting back until yesterday so alas the blog went blank again. Oh well. I'm back now and had a most fabulous weekend that I have to share!

Friday: After work I had the pleasure of attending Tara's GAP Born to Fit party on the west side and man was it a great time. I posted all about it on my review blog so head on over to check it out. Basically it was a great way to end the work week and a great night overall.

Saturday: Off and away! My sister, Matt, my cousin Bryan and I hopped into Bryan's parent's car and we were off to Salinas for the annual Swiss picnic with my family. Per tradition we stopped off at Andersen's Pea Soup on the way up and my sister and I got this gem:

oh I'm so easily amused

Eventually we made our way up to my cousin's house for a big BBQ with tons of family, lots of food, some music and even more alcohol, haha we know how to have a good time.

gettin all cute on the dance floor

my cousin Dave and his daugher, so adorable

they're all so intrigued, haha

After the BBQ the youngins went to my cousin Kenji (hi Kenji!) and Zach's place where the drinking games and craziness commenced. Seriously hanging out with my cousins is always a good time. So without further ado and talking about let's just see some more pictures:

this is why we love each other, haha

Kourtney and Bryan pre-drinking games

oh so zexy kids

this would have been perfect for Tiger Week, haha

Kristine is in awe (or shock, ha) of Kenji's pong skills

and check out those sweet moves, haha

I missed this part of the night but apparently things got
a little crazy and pretty entertaining, oh good times

Basically it was a ridiculous night and it was awesome.

Sunday: Time to celebrate our Swissness Basically all of the Swiss people in the community head to the Swiss Rifle range and have a big ole picnic, celebrate being with family, dance to some polka and do the chicken dance, have lots of delicious food and have a grand ole time. And grand as always it was this year. I love hanging out with the fam and being crazy and having fun. And again I present some more fantabulous pics:

love these two cuties

the SoCal crew, sort of, haha

my parents with some of the cousins

getting down to the chicken dance

After the picnic we headed to my cousin Steve's house for some more food (how I ate it all I don't know) and good times.

the boys relaxing for a bit

Kurt giving himselt a nice massage as well, haha

chilling at the Indigo Bar, good times all around

After my cousin's house we headed back to Kenji's place for a little more fun time and bonfires before calling the weekend to an end.

kisses for Rocky, cuuute

Basically it was another fun night of laughs and good times and not a dull moment in sight.

Monday: Drove home. Sad to go. Saw a movie with Matt. Came home to watch Definitely, Maybe. Relaxed, goodbye weekend.

And how was your weekend? Any crazyness or good times in there? Anything I missed reading about?

happy tuesday!
