Heaven in food form.

So this is yet again another cop out post. I'm uber busy at work and don't have time to write anything of super importance. So I will share this fact with you...I am currently eating a red velvet cupcake and my god it's fantastic. Thank you sugary gods of wonder, I'll be able to make it through the day solely on the sugar from the frosting, yummm.

So, what's your favorite kind of cupcake?

Sideways.

So I know I said I'd post something better and cooler than yesterday's lame post, but really I'm still sickish and drugged up and have lots of work to catch up on, so instead of a real post here are some pictures from my weekend.

our transportation/ my sleeping quarters
I heart limos.

the view from Kalyra

yes the sickness was kicking in,
but that didn't stop me from having some wine

*also note, we're in the winery where
Sandra Oh worked in Sideways, woot*

mmmmmmmwine

Well I wish I had taken more pictures, but the fact that I had a ridiculous fever and could barely stand kind of put damper on that. So that's what I got.

Anyhoo, time to catch up on all the work I've missed..eee. Have a most fabulous Wednesday!

Hollywoodness that makes a sick girl happy.

  • This site up and running and the fact that a reunion is not completely out of the picture! [insert girly screeeeeeeeeeeeeeam! ah!]

  • Seeing Josh having fun (even though he's not on TV...don't even get me started):

  • My girl Jen representin some college pride (woot!) and of course my favorite celebrity child...Violet:

  • And not only that, Jen was the host of a gospel brunch for the I Have A Dream Foundation (which I'm a member of) and although I couldn't go, props to her for being so involved.

Well that's it for me today. I'm feeling better and will be at work tomorrow, woot.

And a much better post can be expected...bigger woot!

I'm sick.

Damn you sickness, damn you. Can't really recap my weekend because I'm still fatigued and coughing like a crazy person. Please send

soup

*fingers crossed I feel better tomorrow*

Work it.

So I've recently (well over the past couple months) become a regular gym goer (woo! applause! cheers!). And in that past couple of months I can't even count how many 'work out mixes' I have gone through. I seriously have music ADD. Any of my friends can attest to this fact: I rarely play songs the whole way through (which made it kind of difficult when I was a DJ), I play some songs on repeat forever and ever (to the dismay of anyone who lived with me) and I have an overall random ass taste in music. With that all said, my current work out mix is a random jumble of songs I love and make me want to move, but I am in need of adding to the mix and am very open to adding some new tracks. So here's what I currently have:

So see what I mean? I listen to random stuff (and lots of Britney, please don't judge, haha). So please send you favorite work out songs or just songs in general so I can check them out and add them to my gym repertoire (woot!). Thank you, thank you.

Happy Thursday!

Cute babies make it all better.

It's been almost a month since my last Violet post and I thought it only appropriate to share some cuteness to brighten up your day. Enjoy :)

totally not Violet, but my goodness Kingston is so freaking cute too!

happy wednesday!

Gone too soon.

Well I tried to think of several ways to write this post, but I really haven't been able to come up with the right words. I know it seems crazy that I could be so sad about losing someone I didn't even know, but really I am. Yesterday after I found out Heath Ledger died I was just in shock and all around sad. Sad because he was a freaking icon for me, hell for any female my age. Because let's be honest here 10 Things I Hate About You was one of the biggest hits of '99 and every girl loved him and loved that movie. And hell every other movie he made was great too, A Knight's Tale, The Patriot, Brokeback Mountain and his upcoming role is going to be amazing as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

I think I'm also sad because of Matilda, his two and a half year old daughter with ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams. Leaving such a small child behind is devastating, especially for a man that talked so highly about being a father.

But really I think most of it stems from the fact that just last week another young actor passed away, Brad Renfro. Although Brad was not nearly as big or well known of an actor as Heath, I was still sad. The Client is one of my favorite movies and Brad did some good work. And again it was sad because he was only 25. And Heath was only 28. What is going on in Hollywood?

Okay well this post is severely depressing and sad so I apologize, I may have to add another post later with bunnies and rainbows or something to brighten it up, haha.

However I'll just end this post with a simple rest in peace.

Brad Barron Renfro (7/25/82 - 1/15/08)

Black light mysteries.

Well today would usually be the day that I talk about the Oscar nominations and who I think will win and all that jazz but by god I am a horrible movie goer this year. I have seen only one of the best picture nominees (one! blasphemy!). Heck I think Juno is the only movie I've seen that's nominated (not including Ratatouille and Surf's Up)! Gah! Who am I!?! This is seriously a disgrace to my being...I must stop working and immediately go to the nearest movie theater. Ah. I wish. So I guess I can only speculate who will win off of Golden Globe wins and critic's choices and what not, but that's so boring. So I may just have to save that til next month, closer to the awards when hopefully I will have redeemed myself and actually seen some of the nominations...one can only hope.

Well since this post can no longer be about movies I will instead direct attention at myself. Because there's nothing like a little embarrassment to start of a Tuesday morning (or afternoon, depending on when you're reading this).

So Saturday night after a fun filled family birthday party, Matt and I went bowling with his brother, his girlfriend, her friend and Matt's younger brother. Now it wasn't just any bowling, it was Nitro bowling on a Saturday night (aka black lights, loud music and disco lights that could give anyone a seizure...sweet!). And let's just make it known, I love bowling. No seriously, love it. And I'm not half bad either which is always nice (I bowled a 127 my first game and a 103 the second, holler). Well the fact that I love bowling actually has no point to this anecdote but I wanted to share my scores anyways, haha. So moving on. We finally get our lane and our shoes and head on over. As I'm sitting down putting on my shoes and the black lights go on I happen to look down at my jeans and what do I see?....a bunch of white conspicuous dots. (insert laugh at Katelin) Gah! Well get your head out of the gutter this instance because there is no way it could be what you are thinking. I just happened to grab some jeans that I had worn a couple times without washing (tisk tisk). But gah! I was basically mortified. Luckily only Matt noticed (well I told him) while the rest of the group was a little too distracted (i.e. drunk) to see the mysterious spots on my jeans. Nonetheless when it wasn't my turn to bowl you can sure as hell bet I was sitting down crossed leg and cheering people on, haha.

So the moral of the story is: Make sure you have clean clothes on before you go anywhere with black light! haha.

Happy Tuesday!

Sister, Sister.

Well it seems all the creativity and wittiness has been drained from my brain because I cannot think of anything cool or amazing or hilarious to blog about on this wonderful Friday afternoon. Instead I'll just post some pictures of my sister and I. She's heading back to school on Sunday (a whole thirty minutes away, haha) so it's only appropriate she gets featured in today's post...enjoy.

We made the Suri hair famous.

And now our hair looks nothing alike.

Did I mention I'm the older one? Haha.

Happy Friday!

Million Dollar M&Ms.

There we sat, hanging out after school both holding onto our unopened package of M&Ms discussing our future. We knew we were going to the win the million dollars, we just had to figure out what to do with it before we won. We wanted to be ready. We sifted through several options before we settled on the best plan ever. We would use our million dollar winnings to buy each of us a VW Beatle and use the leftover money to pay for our insurance. It was genius. Although neither of us had our license we still wanted the cars and that was it, nothing could change our minds, we were going to win the million and get the cars.

And then. The moment of truth. We sloooooowly opened the M&Ms anticipating confetti falling from the sky and a ticker tape parade in our honor. We made sure not to rip the bag open but slowly unfold the edges. However, our hopes of being millionaires quickly dissipated as the words "You are not a winner, try again next time" appeared in front of us. Needless to say, we were a little disappointed we weren't instant millionaires and unceremoniously ate our M&Ms.

Well thirteen years later we still aren't driving VW Beatles or sharing a million dollars courtesy of M&M but we are still best friends with hopes that it might happen...one day...

Happy Birthday Megan!

Randomosity at it's finest.

  • The Dutch know how to make online shopping fun, check it out!
  • Scientists discovered the remains of a two thousand pound rodent. Thank god that's not lurking around my office. Ew.
  • You can leave yourself a message for the future. Weeeeird. But I may try it.
  • Don't drink and mow.
  • Heidi will marry Spencer if ... he stops being a douchebag. Wait. Why do I care? Gag.
  • Apparently Harvey Dent is the backbone of The Dark Knight. But really,we all know it's Bruce Wayne that really matters....mmmmChristian Bale. Ah. Is it lame that I can't wait for this movie to come out and watch the preview randomly just for fun? Yeah, six months and two days to go. I'm lame.

I have a dream today.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
(excerpt from the I Have A Dream speech, August 28, 1963)

Try it if you dare.

When I was in college I had the most random eating habits ever. Freshmen year I was too damn lazy to wait in lines in the dining hall so I primarily lived off of cereal, pizza, pasta and salad (so healthy, I know). By the time senior year came around and I was off the meal plan and cooking for myself and I got pretty creative. And for some odd reason (read as, lack of sleep causes delusion) I've decided to use today's post to share some of the random "recipes" I lived by...don't judge, haha:

#1
1 chopped up green apple
1 can of tuna
balsamic vinaigrette

As crazy as it sounds, mix all of the above. Don't add too much dressing or it could kill it, just guestimate. Once everything is as mixed as you want it, you can do two things. One. But bits of tuna/apple on crackers (I personally love Triscuits) and top with mini slices of cheese (any kind is fine, but I love Colby or cheddar). Pop in microwave for 20 seconds and Bam! Just call me Emeril you're done. And eat away.

Option two. Toss the mix in with some salad and shredded cheese and you've got one tangy meal. It's amazing, I swear.

+

#2
This one is pretty simple and is freaking delicious. Basically just get a bagel, toast it. And apply a thin layer of cream cheese (or a big layer if you're like me, I'm a cream-cheese-aholic, haha) and follow by a thin layer of apple butter (I got my most recent batch at Harry and David's, I think some grocery stores carry it too, it's phenomenal!). Oh. My. Goodness. This is heaven in bagel form.

#3
Okay so this really isn't a recipe but more like a recommendation. Two words. Blueberry Pancakes. They are heaven sent. I seriously can not count the times I made pancakes at midnight instead of studying. I used to make them for my roomies and share when I didn't want to study anymore. You can go the box route (which I usually did, hey it's cheap and I was a poor college student) or make them from scratch or buy plain mix and add some blueberries yourself (I've done that more recently). Just know any way you do it at any hour of the day it'll be amazing. So enjoy!

Well those are the top three foodies I lived off of Senior year and probably haven't had since (with the exception of the pancakes, heaven sent I tell you). However, when I'm living on my own again soon they may just make a comeback, who knows.....

Anyhoo hope you all had fabulous weekends and have an even more fabulous Monday (woot!).

To love or dislike, that is the question.

Love: No one died on Grey's last night.
Very strongly dislike: The freaking Writer's Strike for making it the last episode until whenever. And Shonda for writing Joshua Jackson's character out of the episode and crushing my dreams and hopes of him returning to television. Gah.

Love: Jen called me before Grey's even started so I knew Josh wouldn't be on it.
Very strongly dislike: Joshua Jackson wasn't on Greys's. I'm still devastated.

Love: I saw a sneak preview of a new movie last night at the Fox Studio lot.
Strongly dislike: It took me an hour and a half to get home, damn traffic.

Love: My little Elantra.
Very strongly dislike: Big cars and fancy schmancy cars that try and muscle me off the road. Just because you're bigger or cost more doesn't mean you can cut me off!

Love: My coworkers hanging out in my office area this morning, they're some funny people.
Strongly dislike: That they're all hanging out because we have a rat problem! Ew. Ack. Gag. Splinter go away!

Love: Singing and dancing to Britney on the way to work today.
Dislike: Britney is a crazy b*tch.

Love: Going to CityWalk with Matt tonight! Eeee.
Dislike: Ten hours to go.

Love love love: It's almost the weekend! Happy weekend!

**pps. apparently it's national delurking week...so delurk away...tell me what you love love love or so very strongly dislike ***

My brain is mush.

I'm not really in the mood to blog today and I have a lot to get done before I head out of work early today to go to a screening. So I'll just leave you with this little diddy...

I wish my pet did that...well if I had a pet I would want it to ride mini motor cycles.

Anyhoo, I'm spent. Happy Almost Friday!

"Say what you need to say...."

Two posts in one day?! I know. Crazy. I rarely do that anymore. However, I can't stop listening to this song/watching the video. What song you ask? John Mayer's newest song "Say." I swear this man must have a pact with the devil, because he just doesn't make bad songs. They are all either good or amazing. To me this song falls under the amazing category because its so sweet and simple and just dang good. Anyhoo, back to the song....I posted about it a while back when Perez put the link up, but now it's available on Itunes and the video is on his site and YouTube and really, it's fantastic. I think I've listened to it about ten times already. Good thing I'm actually wearing headphones today or I think my coworkers would kill me...or just shoot Nerf darts at me (yes we have a Nerf gun in the office, awesome I know).

Okay well to the point...here's the video...watch it...love it...rinse...repeat....

I've lost my appetite.

Ew. Gag. Ack.

Those are the only words I can put together after seeing the Heidi/Spencer montage gallery on People. Why oh why would People.com post that?! I thought they were better than that.
If you don't want to gag and scream at the whole gallery just check out my favorite (the most ridiculous) pic of the bunch:

*throws up a little in mouth*

Okay those publicity whores can't be the only thing on this post. Instead admire Johnny Depp at some Sweeney Todd promo looking mysterious and scrumptious aka the usual:

And if that doesn't do it for you (well you have some problems)...I've got one more trick up my sleeve to make you laugh. Apparently last night was the People's Choice awards and no one went except Queen Latifah (she hosted) and all the acceptance speeches were pre-taped and all that jazz. Well Joaquin Phoenix thought it'd be cool to do his speech in the form of big ass notecards. Well homeboy must have been cracked out, wasted, exhausted...or all of the above because here's how his first card looked:

Notice any problems here?

He spelled his NAME wrong!!

How do you mess that one up? Seriously.
update: Julie Q makes a good point that he could have misspelled his name on purpose to demonstrate lack of writers. However I think if that's what he was going for he should have misspelled something on all of the cards...hmmmm

Oh well. Makes for some great Wednesday laughs, haha.

Today's post sponsored by the fine folks at IKEA.

I love IKEA, plain and simple. Granted I have no real need for IKEA and its fantastic furniture right now since I'm currently shacking up at home, with the rents, in the same bedroom I've had for thirteen years...but that's besides the point, a girl can dream can't she?

For example, if I had a place of my own I would want to own this:

and this

and this

and so many other things that I can't find online right now and don't have the patience to sort through and post. Ah. Basically I just want to live in their bedrooms and living rooms and pretend that I have that kind of style.

And one man from New York apparently has the same idea since he's recently moved in to an IKEA. Mark Malkoff is currently residing in the New Jersey IKEA while his apartment is being renovated! How awesome would that be?! Haha. He's even having a camera crew follow him around and document his bizarre adventure. Amazing. Granted none of the TVs or bathroom facilities actually work so I don't think I'd really be up for actually staying in the store. Maybe just transplant their design rooms to my imaginary apartment and I'd be set...ah to dream.

Some questions.

_Is it butt naked or buck naked?

_Who decided that Heidi would be a good cover model for Maxim? I mean really, who chooses that and why would they choose her, gag?

_Is it just me or do Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem look a lot alike?

_My car's name is Murphy, and I want to name my GPS guy. I have narrowed it down to Franklin (thanks Nicole!) and Gerard (yes I just saw P.S. I Love You and his name just sounds so regal). What do you think?

_I don't know what's worse...a wedding cake that looks like the bride or a Hello Kitty themed wedding? Eeek.

_Although he is not mentioned on any commercials or previews I'm pretty sure that Joshua Jackson guest starring on Grey's Anatomy may be the best thing to happen to TV this year (and yes the year is only seven days old, I know). And there's no real question here, just a statement of fact and excitement...woo!
update: so Shanti has informed me that Josh may not be in this episode on Thursday (damn you strike!!). However, I am hoping that Imdb has not lied to me since Josh is slated to be in the episode "Lay Your Hands On Me" which is airing this week. So we'll just have to see. *Fingers crossed everyone*Fingers crossed*

Anyhoo, that's all I got for now. Happy Monday!
