Last night as Matt and I were flipping through some recipes his mom had cut out, I started thinking about some of my own "recipes." The last time I revisited my college cooking creations I simply shared the meals... and what about desserts?!? How could I forget desserts?! I mean honestly, I basically lived off of sweets and chocolatey things so I thought I'd share two of the best creations and other recommendations of sugary sweetness. Enjoy.

So I know this sounds simple and you may have done it before, but by god it was fantastic on a cold day in Ohio. So check your pantry or cookie jar or in my case it was the fortunate days that the dining hall had edible looking treats, and grab yourself a chocolate cookie. Preferably one big enough to fill up a bowl. Now pop that bad boy in the microwave for oh 20 seconds (maybe a little longer, depends on how gooey you like your cookie) take it out, quickly scoop some vanilla ice cream (or FroYo). Now you can stop there if you want, or take it one step further and add some chocolate syrup. Then dive in and enjoy the chocolately fantasticness that is your now dessert....mmmmmmm.

Now this next "recipe" is super convenient for anyone still stuck in the dining hall or just doesn't feel like making a whole batch of treats. I present to you, Rice Krispie Treats express, sort of, haha. Basically all you need is a bowl, some Rice Krispies, some butter and marshmallows. I recommend adding the butter first and then however many Krispies you want and the gooier you want it the more mallows you need to add. Once you've added everything together, pop it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Take it out mix it up and if it needs more time pop it back in. Once everything is all mixed together, take a spoon (or fork, whichever you prefer) and dig in!

Popcorn.
Obviously this doesn't need much direction or explanation. Well besides the point that it isn't sugary...well it could be if you get some kettle korn. Popcorn is one of the best foods ever and a great distraction to studying a good partner to any lazy day in front of the TV. So get your butt up and go make some popcorn, regular or kettle. That is all :)
Well those are the top three dessert like goodies that I had throughout college, haha. What kinds of sugary sweetness did you eat through college? Heck what easy to make sweets do you eat now? I'm quite curious. :)
happy wednesday!

Ooh...All I can think about is cookies and ice cream! Is it five o'clock yet??? I must get home and eat it!
oh ma gee I want to go home and do the rice krispie treat one RIGHT NOW. that is a sweet idea.
In college I ate more tubes of raw cookie dough than I care to admit. 1 tube + 1 spoon = Heaven! (Also, larger thighs than I liked, but hey, sacrifices!)
booo! none of those items are conducive to my diet. but I definitely plan on indulging in the near future. ha!
Oh wow...this is baddd for me. Who knew rice krispie treats were so easy to make?!
And the cookie one..yummmm.
You should put together a book of dorm room recipies!!
i still do a double take every time i'm in line at starbucks when i see the rice krispie treat just sitting there, waiting to be bought! They are simply amazing, but i agree- homemade ones are the best
Oh man, I had forgotten about our rice krispie creations in the dining hall! So good!
I absolutely LOVE making rice krispie treats! I used to make them like 2 times a week. So bad!
Recipe #1. Can you please come over so we can make this? PLEEEEASE?!?
Popcorn + M&Ms = salty/sweet deliciousness
And I'm really wishing I had some Rice Krispies right now...
You have such a great blog. Would u like to link?
sounds like my kind of cooking!
OMG I love me some warm cookies and ice cream. Now I'm craving lol
If you add a little peanut butter to those rice crispy treats, you will really make them out of sight!!!
And melt a little semi-sweet chocolate and peanut butter on the stove (careful not to burn it) and then drizzle that concoction on the popcorn...wowwee that is a stunning dessert.
One time I tried to make brownies in a microwave in college... it was a disaster..for serious.
but that cookie thing? sounds ah-maze-ing.
mmmm cookie ice cream combo... talk about a sugar high lol. I'm lusting at the thought of it right now, that's a good recipe.
We LIVED on Ghiradelli brownie mix. Mmmm chocolatey goodness!
