A giveaway? Oh? A GIVEAWAY!

First of all I want to say thank you to everyone that Twittered and emailed me to see if I was okay in the midst of the LA earthquake. You guys are so sweet! So many people I haven't even met making sure I'm okay...now that's what I call awesome. But yes my office swayed and shook a bit but I'm okay (as are all my friends and fam), you all really do rock.

And now onto today's pressing matters....A giveaway! Wheee!

Did you see that, a giveaway. After reading Jenn's post yesterday I was reminded of all the totally extra swag from BlogHer that is just hanging out in my room going unused and waiting for an owner to appreciate them. And as I am in the process of downsizing and cleaning up to get ready for the upcoming move of course I'm going to give stuff away. So what am I giving away this time?

one Saving Grace t-shirt
four Saving Grace drink markers
3 pens, because really everyone needs pens
a $20 T-Mobile gift card for Wifi or something
a whole bunch of Dental Burst
a 1gig flash drive
and whatever else I decide to toss in there :)

Doesn't that sound amazing? So intriguing? And what do you have to do to win such a fabulous prize...all you have to do is tell me the most bizarre gift you've ever gotten or given. Simple right?

Just submit your entry and I'll show it to the judging committee (my sister) and they'll make their decisions on Friday! So get going and share! Woo!

And while you're at it feel free to check out other giveaways at the Bloggy Giveaways going on now:

í'll never forget the oddest gift i've ever gotten: 6th grade for our class christmas swap, my classmate gave me a previously used m&m dispenser that never dispensed a thing.

Holy dental burst! I had like one in my bag and I think I tossed it. Someone got a little burst happy :)

Thanks for the link love!

By far the weirdest gift I've gotten was a pickle fork. I betcha didn't know one of those existed. I didn't until I received it for christmas. It was from someone on my grandpa's wife's side of the family and lets just say we laughed the ENTIRE ride home.

A pickle fork? Really? What part of that says merry christmas?!

Hooray for giveaways!

hmmmm, most bizarre gift i've given would have to be $20 worth of batteries (last minute yankee swap gift for work. during my mad dash at target below my office 5 minutes before the party, my rationale was: "everyone could use some batteries!")...

The weirdest gift I have ever receieved is a pumice stone... from my sister last Christmas. When I opened it I was like, "umm.. Thanks?"

Only One Heidi said...

the weirdest gift was when i was 13. My parents had just separated and so my dad's new Girlfriends family wanted to include me in the christmas festivities. So his girlfriend got me the GREATEST GIFT EVER (/end sarcasm) They were these stuffed elephants - big and mini size. Wearing ballerina outfits. They were called "ballerina elephants"

Seriously, i was 13. Not 3. I had no idea where she got the idea that i would have any interest in them. It was tres bizarre.

I once got a gift certificate for a store that pretty much only sells live bait for fishing.

Um, I do NOT fish. And I was like 8 and at sleepaway camp at the time. Maybe there was a joke I was missing? Anyway, not funny and never used.

the weirdest gift i have ever gotten was at a christmas party with friends when we were playing that game where everybody had to bring a gift for somebody else, but it had to be something from their home that they wanted to get rid off.
i think i received a silver plate that was all scratched up and definitely belonged in the trash a looooong time ago.

I gave my friend Kandi a mustache for her birthday. Actually, it was a mustache brooch. And she thought it was super cool in that weird way.

The weirdest gift I've ever gotten was a 3x5 card. It was a birthday gift from my mom and my brother when I turned 19, I think. The card promised to purchase an amplifier for the electric violin I had recently bought. Said amp has yet to be purchased, even almost six years later, so a 3x5 card gift it was.

How fun you're doing a give away! Hmm... oh, the weirdest gift I got was when I was 10 years old, I received an alarm clock from my uncle - and lemme tell you, this wasnt a cool alarm clock with hello kitty on it or a vintage clock or anything, just a boring, ugly alarm clock that was prolly from walgreens for $5. And this uncle was rich! Why would you give a 10 year old an alarmclock? weird. and i'm pretty sure i already had one!

Ha! What a great contest.

The most bizarre gift that I ever got was a gift set from "NADS" a hair removal product.

I don't know why my mom ever gave it to me. But my family and I couldn't stop laughing at the name.

I don't think I ever used it.

Faith said...

The most bizarre gift I've ever gotten? It was from a friend, who has since passed away, and I love her dearly. She's one of the best friends I've ever had. That being said....it was a bunch of empty and washed baby food jars (but not all the label glue came off) that had been glued together in the shape of a Christmas tree. After my friend left the house when she dropped it off, my husband and I were literally rolling on the floor laughing hysterically.

I described it to someone at work the next day, and she confidently asserted that she could do something creative with it. So I brought it to her, and she stared at it blankly, and started laughing. I think it ended up going into the garbage can.

The strangest gift I ever got was a pinata full of gum. No wrapping. Just a tiki man pinata. It was a joint gift for me and my boyfriend from his sister, and she had filled it with ribbon curls, my favorite gum, play-doh, and york peppermint patties for him. And it was awesome, but completely unexpected! And the creativity was pretty much not to be outdone. Very strange, but very much loved.

The weirdest gift I ever (or should I say "never") got was at my baby shower. Inside a beautifully wrapped box was a 3x5 card that said "your gift has been ordered and I will deliver it when it arrives"
My son is 21 now and I am still waiting.lol.

Strangest gift I've ever received: A ceramic duck candy holder from my aunt, for my WEDDING. Chris and I thought about taking it with us on our honeymoon, just to take pictures of it having grand adventures along the coast. In the end we opted to send it sailing along in the garbage, so that no one else would have to suffer the injustice that was The Ugly Duckling.

Ok, long before everyone thought about the effects of humans on the planet, my dad was an environmental dude (technologist, engineer, whatever, something to do with the environment) so one year when I was like ten he got me biodegradable socks.
These socks were supposed to be able to disintegrate so as to reduce pollution. Problem is, how can you wear a sock that is pretty much in the process of eating itself??

Our first Christmas, my MIL sent us a piece of driftwood. On it was a fake cardinal. It was covered with what looked like real feathers. There was also this little nest that was way smaller than the bird. It was strange and creepy. I thought it was a joke but my husband told me his Mom was terrible at gifts. We stuck it in the closet and pulled it out when she was visiting. We finally got rid of it and blamed the Navy for lossing it during a move :)

The most bizarre gift...hmmmm...my hubby gave me a skillet one year. Now he should have known better. I burst into tears! I didn't want a fricken' skillet, I wanted an antique ruby ring. Then in walked my son who was just a year carrying a little box! I think the skillet is still in the cupboard...in the box!

The weirdest gift I've ever received was a gift certificate for a tanning salon for 6 tanning sessions. The gift itself is not weird, but I'm Hispanic so I really don't need to go to a tanning salon to get some color. It was a nice gesture though, I guess. I gave the certificate to my husband since he's as white as Casper the Ghost. He just burned, though. OOPS! ;)

Great giveaway!

Well, my younger brother and I don't have what you would call a close relationship! (he's a tad odd) haha and nooo its not me who is the odd one!!

One Christmas, he and his wife gave my husband and I a Christmas present.

It was, I think, an ornament....for something. It was a giant winged thing, like a fly, in bright gaudy colours with gold wings. The topper was this things eyes.....they litterally were like 1/4 inch out and very "buggy". I didn't manage to say anything to them, but after we got home, the kids just kept looking at it and asking me, "what is it?", "why did he give you that mom?" , "Uncle Robert (an assumed name) lol, is weird mom"

My youngest daughter actually wanted to send it to the Ellen show as she was showcasing weird gifts once. (She didn't know it had met an unfortunate demise the year earlier)

Great giveaway, thanks.

Please don't enter me, I'm trying to do my own give aways! The most bizarre gift I ever received was from my Mom and it was Granny slippers. I opened them, stared at her, and she says, oh, looks like your Grandmother got your digital picture frame and you got her slippers. You can keep those, I'm not paying shipping twice! Ummm, yeah. They became a donation at a retirement home and Grandma who doesn't have a computer, taped a picture to her digital frame and set it on the TV. Yeah, read that last line again and let it sink it for full effect.

We did a Christmas exchange in 5th grade. My mom went out & bought a really nice gift, even went over a bit. I came home with a DIRTY rabbit foot. She was so upset for me. It was really bad. In a way we felt bad for the girl giving it though.

Anyway, it became tradition, and my brothers knew it was coming when they started high school as well!

Sex stuff. That's right: clitoral lube, cherry flavored dick slick and some sex oil for massage.

So he gave me a bust of Michael Jacksons head (wearing that red leather jacket he always wore). I could have died!!!! It was hideous!!!! Everyone (my aunt, my cousins, some friends that were over) burst out laughing hysterically but my uncle didn't see the humor in it. He was giving me a gift from his heart because he knew the kids (back in the 80's) loved to listen to Michael Jackson so he thought I'd like the gift.

Soon after we were married, dh was wanting ideas to tell his family to get me/us so I went through the Disney catalog and marked a wide variety of items that I'd like, making sure there was a wide range of prices & such. MIL decided on what she wanted to get me (I don't remember what it was now), but then when it was out of stock she bought me a Christmas nightshirt (that I had NOT marked, what newly married 20-something wants a nightshirt?) and "explained" that she'd wanted to get me whatever but since it was out-of-stock she just bought something else the same price & I could exchange it for what she originally wanted to get me?!?!? Now (a) the thing she wanted to get me was from the website & the nightshirt was from the Disney STORE and at least at that time, the 2 weren't interchangeable (so I couldn't get credit from the store & use it online) (b) it was a CHRISTMAS nightshirt & I couldn't return it till AFTER Christmas so I got like 50% credit for it because it was clearanced for it (no, she didn't include the receipt or a gift receipt).

At my husband's corporate Family Christmas Party last year, we played White Elephant with every family member playing if you brought a gift, which all 5 of us did. His co-workers GF had planned their gifts. Our kids are 2, 4, and 6. The 6 year old got the gift from the GF and it was an adult toy used for the behind! He had no idea what it was, fortunately, and the GF thought the inappropriate gift was funny, but no one else did. Her BF dumped her when he got in HUGE trouble over it. The Boss was not amused that anyone would bring that to a family party and not stop a child from opening it, neither were we. We left it there and gave our son one of our gifts.

By far, the weirdest gift someone gave me was in high school. This guy I knew bought a birthday gift and insisted I open it in front of everyone at the lunch table. I opened the box and saw this white chocolate bar (I LOVE white chocolate) in a weird shape. I turned the box slightly and oh. my. gosh. It was in the shape of a male body part! I turned a deep shade of red, and slammed the lid back on while everyone laughed.

Then he insisted I had to try it so I opened the box, looked at him, grabbed it and snapped it in half. Guys groaned and the girls ate the white chocolate.

I have no idea what possessed him to get it!

Anyway. :) This would be so fun to win. :)
