Weddings are for champs.

I'm back. And man what a weekend.

Seriously, I'm exhausted. Weddings are tiring. Just so you know, in case you didn't already. I can't give the full recap today since I haven't uploaded any pictures yet, instead I'll steal one of Katrina's. Cuuuuuute:

So expect the full recap of traveling adventures, jumping on beds, blonde moments, reunions, beautiful weddings and full on awesomeness in tomorrow's post.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

And for now I'm going to make it through the work day then get home for one kick ass nap, ha.

And thanks to my fabulous guest bloggers Heidi and the Ex, you girls are loverly :)

happy monday!

Oh Noes - The Foot Edition!

Hey everyone! It's The Ex from Ex-Everything here filling in for Katelin the Greatlin while she's off having fun at a wedding. Did you hear that? Fun? At a wedding? Crazy talk! I've only been to a few weddings and never ever have I had anything that could be construed as fun. I hope in the next few years as my friends start to get married (or...you know...if I ever get married! Are you listening hypothetical deity?!) that I'll be able to go to a wedding and party like a rockstar or at the very least like Katelin.

Unfortunately, as of 1:30am on Wednesday June 26th, 2008 the fun in my life has officially died. Last night I went to happy hour at Black Angus with my work buddy turned real life friend Sara. We got there at about eight and enjoyed a few hours of karaoke (not me!) and 1.50 drafts. We left at around 12 and I (soberly!) drove home and went to bed to catch as many Z's before I had to get up for work. There are a lot of good reasons to get out of working but hungover isn't really one of them. I woke up at about 1:30 and went to the bathroom where I promptly tripped over a cat (or something) and fell to the floor. I knew that I had hurt my foot but it's been broken before and sometimes if touched the right way it still hurts. So, I went back to bed.

And then this morning came and I swung my legs out of bed and tried to stand up but instead crumpled to the floor! My right foot was in so much pain that I was pretty sure I was about to either pass out or throw up. All I could think was, "My foot is broken! My weak sauce foot is broken for the THIRD DAMN TIME!". I was pissed at my foot, furious if you will.

I called my mom to take me to urgent care where they confirmed that I did infact "subtly fracture my fifth metatarsal". The doctor looked at me like she couldn't believe that not only had I done this by falling in my own bathroom but that this was the THIRD in a string of unbelievably stupid foot injuries (the first being a tragic monkey bars incident in third grade and the second being the time I fell off a step that was approximately four inches high). I'm not graceful. Obviously.

The truth is that I fall more than any one person should. I trip over my own feet, I teeter and stumble off of heels, I'm completely useless at walking, running or really anything that involves my feet working in coordination with the rest of my body. People always make fun of me because GUFFAW I bet you can't even walk and chew gum at the same time! The worst part is that I CAN'T. OKAY.

And so, here I sit with my uncoordinated, weaksauce right foot elevated, swelling and slowly turning purple. I may not be able to walk, drive or shower by myself for the next six to seven weeks but I'm not going to have any trouble parking my ass on a couch and letting everyone wait on me.

Epic foot FAIL but damsel in distress WIN.

Thanks to Katelin for letting me guestblog! And thank you for reading! If you don't already read my blog? Then maybe you should start. I post like once a week and it's usually boring so CHECK ME OUT, yes? Lovelovekisskiss. Have a great weekend!

Here Comes the Bride...

So when Katelin asked me yesterday if I would guest blog for her, I said yes - obvi. There are so many great bloggers out there, it's taken me since last September to find a nice lil niche and Katelin was among one of the first that I started reading when I jumped the LJ ship to the wonderful world of wordpress (no offense to all you blogger folk). Anyhow, shame on me, I'm being rude, I'm Heidi from Life in Pink.

So since our favorite gal Katelin is at a wedding this weekend, I decided to talk about weddings. Mostly because a. I'm going to one this weekend in Boston and b. I'm planning my own having been engaged now for almost two weeks.

Time sure is flying.

But really, let's chat about weddings.

Some people...are just tacky. Some people have bad taste. Some people are walking cliché's. I currently have three friends, and three acquaintances that I knew in college - all of whom are planning weddings to occur in the next 1-2 years.

Hot damn.

I guess they're right when they say "guess something is in the air" because really? Jebus. I thank goodness that I likely will be invited to anywhere between one and three of these weddings. I enjoy weddings...I do. When I know people there. Fiancé and I are going to a wedding in Connecticut for a friend of his from high school. Whom he happened to have briefly dated. Granted it practically doesn't count in the way that high school relationships stop counting after one or two serious relationship when you're older but still, it might be the principle.

Or the fact that I wasn't originally invited.

That's just really making me not looking forward to this wedding. We were already going up to celebrate with his parents anyhow, but now we get to spend a morning with small talk, and brunch. Brunch? Really?

No offense to you people who enjoy lunchtime or daytime weddings but unless there's an open bar and I know fiancé and I won't have to drive...I doubt I'll have a spectacular time...because I dunno, something about them just...bugs me. I mean you have people come into town for a wedding and what, by four pm the wedding is over, the newlyweds are snug in a hotel room consummating their marriage and what do the guests do? Twiddle their thumbs? Maybe I haven't been to a good day time wedding, but all the ones I've been to since turning 21 were evening black-tie optional events.

My wedding? 2pm ceremony. 5pm cocktail reception. 6pm dinner/reception. Around 11pm? Shut the place down and roll out to the Irish bar that our hotel that the wedding will LIKELY be at (there are no deposits down yet) and keep the party going. It? Is going to be AWESOME. Hands down, just awesome.

The wedding this weekend? A 6pm ceremony with a sweet reception at a hotel in the Financial District of Boston. It has been described as "big and beautiful."

Unfortunately, fiancé and I, despite the contributions from our parents, will be paying for most of the wedding ourselves. At first I thought I wanted a big affair. Lots of family and lots of friends. But given the fact that our wedding will be away from our respective hometowns in DC, it'll be smaller with close family and close friends. It'll be fun, and classic and elegant in the simple ways. Tea light candles. White lights. Hydrangeas and mums and daisies. Green and Pink everywhere because those? Though I know cliché but my favorite colors.

Way before we got engaged, I started thinking about all this, not so much that it drove me crazy or pressured boyfriend, but in a way that I would look for ideas from other weddings. Usually bigger than what I'd have (i don't think anyone needs a stir-fry bar, a sushi bar, a martini bar, and a carving station at the COCKTAIL hour) , with colors I probably wouldn't choose (pink and red? not so much...) but the thing about it all is, that I'm learning, is that everyone has different taste. And that? Is what should be appreciated. So what if you don't think the purple poofy gowns that looked horrible on half of the bridesmaids was what the bride chose...if thats what she wanted then so be it. So What if the pale pale pink and red carnations and roses were a bit Valentine's Day for you...it was early March and she liked it all. So what if there was too much food and thus you felt you couldn't dance because there was just SO MUCH FOOD...and you were too full...you didn't pay for it and should be honored that you were invited to enjoy it with the bride and groom. But look around - the CD that the newlyweds made as a gift for everyone with their favorite songs? The pictures of the couple around their town with numbers for the table numbers? Those are the little things that differentiate weddings, the little details that make it that much more personal and those are the things I love to notice.

Personally? I can't wait till I can do all this. Fifteen months and counting.

Anyhow, hope you're having a ball at the wedding Katelin, can't wait to hear all about it!!

Don't forget freaders, to stop by my blog at Life in Pink ;) /end shameless plug

Hey Girl!

So I started writing this post yesterday and it was all about weddings since that is where I am off to this weekend, to be in my good friend's wedding in Philly... but alas more important matters need to start off this post...
O.A.R.

I love them!

I saw them last Summer in concert and they were amazing and last night was no exception. I got tickets very last minute and went with my sister to the House of Blues to see these schnazzy guys perform and they did not disappoint. Seriously I think they are better live than they are on their studio albums and that is saying a lot right there. Basically they played all of my favorite songs "Hey Girl" "Love and Memories" "Crazy Game of Poker" and some of their new stuff (which I had listened to on repeat from their Myspace page yesterday and was able to sing along, yes I am that girl). So yeah, just know that they rock and you should definitely see them in concert if you ever get a chance...aaaaaaaaaamazing :)

Now moving on. Weddings. They are everywhere. And I mean everywhere. The Today Show, the WE channel (hello Bridezillas and Platinum Wedding). Around the blogosphere. And on top of that I have been invited to three weddings this year as compared to last year when I went to none. Crazy pants I say. And even more crazy, I'm actually in one this year. One of my best friends from high school is getting married in Philly and I'm in her wedding and I am all sorts of happy and feel like all sorts of grown up, haha...

But that doesn't mean we'll act grown up, haha
(The one in the middle is the bride to be)

And the happy married couple to be :)

Basically after months of booking flights, hotel rooms, a rental car and buying my dress and Matt's suit, I'm ready to get sappy (yeah I teared up watching the Today Show wedding, I can almost guarantee I'll get teary this weekend) and have a kick ass time. And on top of it all I'll be with Matt and some of my bestest friends, weddings really are a great way to bring people together.

So I hope you all have a most fabulous rest of the week and check back in tomorrow and Friday for some lovely guest bloggers, woo!

happy wednesday!

What's happenin Hollywood?

So it's Tuesday, which means....What's happenin' in Hollywood?!? I know you've all be on the edge of your seats all week so I won't delay any longer, and go!
  • Did you know the Daytime Emmy awards were on Friday? I didn't. Ellen took home top honors again, but the biggest and by far the best winner of the night was the all powerful and mighty Tyra Banks. No I'm not even kidding. Her talk show won for best informative talk show or some shizz like that. And her acceptance speech, oh so classic Ty Ty, the bitch is crazy, but I love her. And you know she'll bring it up next season of Top Model..."Remember that time I won an Emmy? Yeah me too."

  • I swear I will never get old of putting up pictures of Violet. She's just so dang cute I can't help it. And Ben is just such the dad it's adorable. Okay I'm done. They're cute.

  • Another cute baby I can't get enough of...Kingston. The kid is awesome. And his parents are serious music royalty. And together they make one bad ass family. And to think they're adding one to the brood, it'll be so cute

  • In not so cute, but rather sad news two Hollywood greats passed away recently. Sunday the great comedian George Carlin passed away due to heart failure and Dody Goodman, best known as the secretary in Grease, passed away at the age of 93. They will both be greatly missed.

  • In funny news, God was arrested for selling coke over. I'm not even making this up. The guy's name is God Lucky Howard. Who would do that to their kid? And why would he sell coke at a church of all places? This story is just all sorts of messed up, haha.

  • So I have never seen an episode of Gossip Girl (for shame! I know) but I love Blake Lively. She just seems so normal and Mandy Mooresque and she was pretty cool in Accepted and probably just as cool in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. And if I was a guy I'd probably have a huge crush on her. Seriously this pic from the set she looks so goddessesque and I love it. And hell who am I kidding, I would totally try and rock this dress too, haha.

  • Heidi and Spencer. I think it's pretty clear that I really can't stand either one of them. So when Heidi releases more so called "songs" I think my ass twitches and my ears start to spasm, gah. Seriously Heidi, stick to crappy television and non-acting and fake photo shoots. And even more so stay away from the internet! Stupid Speidi announced that they're launching their own social network that's going to be "bigger than Myspace and bigger than Facebook." I'm not even making that crap up, oh I wish I was.

  • Joshua Jackson. I heart you. I can't wait for your new show in the Fall. I hope it's awesome, I really do. Ah. Heart.

Well that's all the Hollyweirdness I got going on today. Anything I missed?

happy tuesday!

Weekends are for dance parties.

So I know I say this every weekend, but I could really use a "pause button." Seriously, I woke up this morning to go to the gym and was like "noooooooooooo it's not Monday", but alas it is. And here I am. So le weekend, care to hear about it? Super. Sadly I don't have as many pictures as I usually do, but you can use your imagination.

Friday night: My family went to see Get Smart while I was at work (color me jealous I really want to see it) and they loved it. Afterwards met up with them for dinner at Island's to celebrate a belated Father's Day. So that was nice and chaotic, as every family dinner is. Afterwards headed over to Matt's house and we went over to the Good Luck Bar in Hollywood to meet up with some friends. Basically we were there a while, I enjoyed a couple of their house drinks that are freaking fabulous and hung out with Steve and Karen before they moved to Tucson on Sunday and Megan before she went to Cabo. Basically a loverly chill night.

Saturday: Woke up early with Matt and headed to the Karen and Steve's place to pick up some furniture they were donating to the "Katelin and Matt Move out project." We got a desk, night stand, coffee table and a lamp. Basically Matt and I have all the furniture we need and it is awesome. After running some more errands we headed back to his house and hit the pool. It was well into the 100s this weekend and swimming was more than necessary. After some pool time two of Matt's friends from college came up for the night and that was awesome. Basically we had a BBQ, had some drinks and enjoyed the night...

Matt and the girls

Silly kids

Doing the gun dance, haha

Sunday: Sunday oh lazy Sunday. I'm pretty sure all of us had some sort of hangover Sunday morning after finishing off one big ass bottle of champagne and dancing the night away. But that was all cured by a big breakfast and more time in the pool. Seriously it was like 100 million degrees outside and the pool was the only option, haha. After that the day was lazily filled with a pedicure, a Target run, and watching the Game Plan, Wild Hogs and The Prestige. Awesome I know.

And now it's back to the grind. At least my office is air conditioned, haha.

And how was your weekend?

happy monday!

Battle of the theme songs.

A couple of nights ago Matt and I were watching Voltron, yes that Voltron. Basically the cartoon version of Power Rangers (I'm convinced Power Rangers creators stole the idea from that show, but whatever, moving on). Well when the show was over we started debating theme songs and show openings. I think the Voltron theme song is so-so whereas Matt thinks it's AWESOME. So now I bring the debate to the masses, what do you all think?

Voltron's theme song:

I personally loooooove the Jem theme song:

And who could forget Duck Tales:

And was I the only person who watched James Bond Jr.?

And who can deny the awesomeness of Ninja Turtles:

No one, that's who.

So really, is Voltron the best one evah? Or does Jem just beat them all? What do you think???

hope you have a fabulous weekend!

happy friday!

Help: Summer tunes needed.

Have you ever have one of those mornings where you wake up and you just think "WTF?"

Yeah that was me today. I woke up with the "going steady" song from Bye, Bye Birdie in my head, yeah that one. Maybe it had something to do with that fact that I was watching Hairspray last night, who knows, but that is definitely one odd song to start your day off with.

And while we're on the topic of music, I need some help. Summer officially starts in two days and I need a new summer mix. Well knowing me, I'll probably make more than one. But it's practically tradition that I have a CD of summer songs that I can play all summer long (and then some) and automatically sing along to and dance in my car. Well this year's mix is looking dismal so far. Right now this about all I have:

Granted this is all I have from my computer at work and my playlist at home is probably way better. But I still need help. Who can I sing to? Who has the best car dancing music? And if all else fails I still have O.A.R., they are the epitome of my summer music...heart them.

So freaders, help a music lover out. What's on your summer playlist?

ps. yes I know that most of that list is poppy mcpopperson music, but I am totally up for whatever. Rock, R&B, Country even. I just need something to sing or dance to, sweet. :)

happy thursday!

What's in your trunk?

So remember way back when and everyone was showing the contents of their purses? Yeah I missed out on that one. Don't ask me why I didn't do it, because I do have some fun stuff hidden in my purse, but alas it's too late. Instead I thought I'd show you the contents of my car trunk.

Yeah you read that right, my trunk. It seriously has the most random assortment of crap in it right now that I find it pretty amusing. So here goes, currently residing in my trunk is:

  • Clorox clean wipes
  • Two neon colored badminton rackets
  • Two badminton birdies
  • A United States atlas
  • Red fuzzy blanket
  • Cheapo purple umbrella from Target
  • Ginormous box of water bottles
  • Zebra striped bathing suit that's way too big
  • A coffee maker (and I don't even drink coffee)
  • Plug in alarm clock
  • High school sweat shirt

Now if that isn't random stuff I don't know what is. Got anything ridiculous hiding out in your trunk these days?

happy wednesday!

Just say no Riley, just say no.

So I was going to play a game today, but then I realized that the past couple Tuesdays I've taken the time to post Hollywoodness, so why stop now? Those crazy kids of Hollywood just keep the news coming so I might as well share it. The game post can happen tomorrow, woo. So here goes Hollywood:

Okay so who knew that Ashley Olsen was dating Justin Bartha??? Anyone? Anyone? How did I miss this little love connection? According to People they're an item, hmm. And for anyone who doesn't know Justin Bartha, he's Riley from the National Treasure movies, meaning: he is awesome. And pretty hilarious. But he's with an Olsen....and I don't get it.

Mandy oh Mandy, I heart you. Seriously, this girl rarely has a bad fashion day and she's normalesque. Basically I want to be her friend. And meet her stylist. I want that dress, no really, like yesterday.

Hi Keanu. Enjoying the French Riviera? Working on your tan? I kid, I kid you don't tan, you shine :)

So I know this happened on Friday but it still makes me laugh, Jen Garner (my fave) locked her keys in her car...and Violet! Luckily Violet is one smart cookie and Jen was able to tell her how to unlock the car and get herself out, whew, close one. Apparently Violet emerged from the car holding the keys victoriously, yes she is a cute one. Heart her.

and just for kicks here she is with Papa Ben today, precious!

Okay enough of the cute Violetness. How about cute Ryan Goslingness? Okay. Super.

Seriously. I just want to go watch The Notebook right now.

Well that's about all the Hollywoodness I have for today. Did I miss anything? Feel free to add on in the comments, woot.

happy tuesday!

Monday, June 16, 2008

We're a classy bunch.

So. The weekend. Wow. Yeah that pretty much sums it up and my post on Friday was pretty accurate so that was sweet.

So you want to hear about it? Well not hear, but read about? Or not even read just get the picture summary? How about a sweet combination of both? Okay sweet. Here goes:

Friday morning Liz and I got up early and headed over to the beach, fabulous. It was sort of overcast at first, but eventually cleared up and we both got some burns to show for it, haha.

Liz was even crazy enough to go in the water,
yeah no way I was going in, haha.

I took this with full intention of a new blog header, woo.

Friday night went to a work party then headed over
to Barney's in Old Town and it was all sorts fabulous.

Aw, College friends reunited...

and so mature :)

For once my hair isn't taking over the picture, woo!
And we look cute!

The boys look so nice...

and yet are so crazy.

But the girls are just as crazy (if not crazier).

Seriously, love this picture, haha.

Can you guess who the sisters are?

Me, Liz and Matt, fabulous.

So all in all it was a fabulous night with lots of drinks, lots of friends and lots of pictures to show for it. And clearly I was all about the "crazy pictures" because I kept saying "stop smiling and make silly faces", I just like those so much more, haha. But yes, great night.

Saturday spent the day BBQing with my fam and taking in some sun and nursing my lameo hangover (yes I said lameo, because really it was). Saturday night we were going to go out, but basically Liz, me and Matt were exhausted, Friday seriously took a toll. So instead we called it an early night and watched a movie and all headed to bed.

Sunday Liz and I went shopping with my family and spent the day just doing whatever. I didn't actually get to see my dad that much since he went golfing. But later in the afternoon we all hung out and bonded together over one ridiculous Lakers game (don't even get me started, gah). After the game Liz and I hung out at her hotel and watched Remember the Titans until we fell asleep, riveting I know, haha.

Basically it was a great weekend and so fun to spend so much time with Liz since we rarely see each other any more (damn you geography, put Ohio and California next to each other!). And luckily I get to see her tonight too before she heads out tomorrow, wee!

Anyhoo, time to get crackin and catch up on work (woo!). Hope you all had a most fabulous weekend!

happy monday!

A birthday poem Shel Silverstein could have written.

So it's been a while since I busted out a poem (I seriously used to write rhymes all the time) so bear with me as I give Kiki my attempt at a birthday poem:

Our friendship has definitely been something fun
and kept us on our toes,
with adventures crazier than the ones
they put on TV shows.

From riding in pizza trucks,
and laying on people's front lawns,
pretending to be Ally and Noah ,
the list goes on and on.

Thank goodness for comm classes,
I know that's weird to say
but if it wasn't for our crazy teachers
we wouldn't be friends today.

And as your friend there's only one thing left to say:
I hope you have a most ridiculous, fantastic, amazing
and fabulous birthday!

Happy Birthday Kiki!

And in other non-birthday news, but college friend news. Liz comes today! Wee! So today is my Friday and tomorrow's post may be uber short or non-existent, I haven't decided yet, whoops.

But ope you all have a most fabulous day!

happy thursday!

I think you should know:

  • I finished "19 Minutes" last night. Wow. Seriously, wow. Jodi Picoult is one extraordinary writer. Although the jumping of time frames and people makes it a little confusing to keep track of at times, it's still so good and I think that's what sort of makes it better. Unlike "My Sister's Keeper", I definitely did not see the twist at the end of this one coming at all. So all in all, I highly recommend this book. Just know it's sort of a tough subject (like all Jodi's books apparently) and may be a little rough to read at times, but definitely a good one. Next up on my reading agenda: "The Time Traveler's Wife."
  • I finally watched the season finale of Greek. Oh man. That show is so Dawsonesque now it's sort of ridiculous. But of course I still love it. And Spring Break? Who doesn't love an episode about Spring Break? I mean really. I wish I was going on Spring Break. And I loved how they actually involved something in the show that was basically "ripped from the headlines" a la Law and Order, haha. But I think the best part was the very end. I laughed out loud and can only imagine how the season premiere will begin.

  • Apparently my brain is mush before 10. I walked out of my house this morning without my car keys (nice job) and then bought a birthday present online for the fabulous Kiki and forgot to change the shipping address so it's coming to my house instead of hers! Ah!

  • I had a dream last night that I had lunch with Barack Obama. Don't really know what we talked about but we did the fist pump, and it was awesome.

  • The Lakers finally pulled out a win against the Celtics, making the series 2-1 now. And my Dodgers beat the Padres 7-2. Finally, LA sports teams are kicking ass (at least for a night).

  • My friend Liz, along with family from Hawaii are coming into town tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! All the makings for a fabulously amazing long weekend :)

  • Today the all wonderful Charlie Conway aka Pacey Whitter aka Joshua Jackson turns 30! Happy Birthday Josh! Maybe for your birthday you should come by my job, it's a trendy spot. I'll buy you some birthday coffee! Or a cupcake! You have to want a cupcake, I mean that's amazing incentive right there. Anyhoo, hope you and Diane celebrate your birthday to the fullest!
    You rock! :)

happy wednesday!

Blanche is fierce.

Okay number one. Yesterday was nice and sunny and right now it's overcast, stop it June Gloom, stop it now! I'm going to the beach on Friday and I want full on beach weather, so really time to listen up and bring out the sun again. Okay thanks.

Okay now that's off my chest time to share some of the latest and greatest news in Hollywoodland. And per usual I play favorites, just in case you happened to forget. And here goes:
  • Sandra oh Sandra, where have you been? Haven't seen you since April. So glad to see you're back to filming The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds, he's just adorable and you're just awesome. So basically that is just a recipe for cuteness.

  • So it's no secret that I'm a sucker for a cute baby. Seriously, it's a little ridiculous sometimes, but I just can't help it. Cute babies just make me ooh and awww. So when I saw these pictures of Gwen Stefani and Kingston I just knew I had to share them. He is the cutest little tannish boy in Hollywood. Precious!

  • Clearly I can never pass up a chance to post a picture of Keanu, it just wouldn't be right if I did. Granted I would be happier if I were posting a picture of him and Sandra, but sadly I think that opportunity only comes once every five or six years. Lake House 2 anyone?

  • 3/4 of the Golden Girls made an appearance on Sunday night at the TV Land awards and seriously in the words of Tyra, those bitches are fierce. Not even kidding. Gotta love these women. And I am totally Blanche, well I was at least. In college some of my friends ( 3 other girls to be exact) deemed ourselves the Golden Girls and I was Blanche. And seriously the other roles fit perfectly, it was amazing. Okay just admire the fierceness:

  • And last, but most certainly not least on today's Hollywood recap: New Kids on the Block. That's really all I have to say. The Kids have released the video for their new single "Summertime" and it's all sorts of cheese, but by cheese I really mean all sorts of awesome. I will always be a fan, no matter how old I get. Hell I even found one of my old NKOTB shirts from back in the day and it still fits! Ah! Although I still don't know if I'm seeing them in concert I sure as hell am putting up their video, so enjoy the awesomeness:

Well that's all I got today, time to get workin workin workin. Woot!

Hope you have a most fabulous day!

happy tuesday!
