A cheese free week.

Am I crazy? Yes I think I am. The title of this post* is what I plan to do next week. Yes it sounds nuts and trust me, it is, but I think I can do it. And why do I even want to have a week without cheese oh glorious cheese....Project Bridesmaid.

My cousin's wedding is coming up October 10th and I have a dress to fit into, a dress I fear may be snug (I'm too afraid to go to her house and try it on again and have it be snug and have to get it altered, I refuse to alter a dress I know I can fit). I'm also planning on cutting out sweets (that would be easier if people stopped bring treats to work) and reserving the wine drinking for the weekend only. If I notice a difference with this on top of walking with mom and somehow possibly maybe getting back into the Wii Fit then I may just make it a continuing project. Or at least a 'have some self restraint project' for a bit. Because honestly, cheese is my weakness. And I eat way too much of it.

So wish my luck, I know I will need it. And hopefully I don't turn into a crazy person dreaming of mac and cheese and cheese and apples and pizza and ah! I'm salivating already just thinking about it all. But I can do it. I must do it. I will do it.

um that would be my heaven.

Anything you need to cut back? Any tips for me to trim some weight back? I'm all ears people.

*I have to give Matt credit it was his idea, but I officially said I'd do it. And go!

happy thursday!

here I was reading it and thinking "yeah, I could live without cheese for a week, a month even!". I forgot cheese is a key ingredient of pizzas, a key solution for that one night (or two) I dont feel like cooking!

You're on the right track. If cheese is too important, dont eliminate it entirely, try to have a sliver a day or something, it will feel less impossible (it worked for me with chocolate, instead of eliminating, I reduced carbs at dinner and was allowed a small piece. SMALL, no cheating here!) - and I lost 20 pounds in 4 months! (oh what getting married can do to you)

good luck!

2 weeks before my wedding I did the South Beach diet (modified to my personal tastes) which is basically not eating carbs including fruit. However i definitely had ranch on my salads and probably too much dairy. But i lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks and felt fabulous the day of!

My favorite meal was a salad with refried beans on it.. you can turn anything into a salad now days. Carb cutting is the way to go if you want to lose pounds fast. Plus you can still eat cheese!!

Drink lots of water.

Drink the water, for sure. And I'm jealous of your cheese intake...I'm lactose intolerant so I wish I could have that much cheese to want to take out of my diet....

I need to cut back on all food. My current habits are not something that anybody should mimic.

When I lost 23 pounds a couple years ago, I did so by cutting out white food -- no white bread, no white pasta, no white rice. Pretty easy.

But I guess this only works if you eat a lot of white food to begin with. :P

I've thought about doing a dairy free week before but just haven't been able to do it. Maybe I will... :) Good luck, and OMG let us know how it goes!!!

I admire your strength - I don't think I could go an entire week without cheese!

Drink tons of water, have fruit as much as you like, and if you need a replacement snack grab pretzels! There's nothing in them, and they satisfy your snacking urges. Good luck!

All I can say is good luck: I LOVE cheese no matter what kind it is. I think that next year I may try to give up cheese for Lent and see how it goes. I think I could do it for 40 days. I mean, I gave up Facebook last year so cheese? It would be a challenge but I wonder how much weight I would lose!

Yep, hands down, I'd cave in.

The husband and I did a "cleanse" a few months ago, which meant no dairy, white flour, or sugar, which is pretty much all I eat. The first 24-48 hours are the worst, if you can get over that it's pretty easy.

Good luck!

To lose weight fast, I have cut out all carbs and dairy. It was hard, but it works :)

I rarely, rarely eat cheese! I love it, but unfortunately it does not love me! I will leave it at that....

As for losing weight, I've lost weight primarily from being active and counting calories. I think it's what works the best!

Cheese is a weakness of mine as well. Drink a lot of water and bring on the fruits and veggies!

Good luck!!! I tried to give up cheese for Lent and it totally didn't work. Mosty because there was cheese on EVERYTHING I ate out. It was pretty hard.

ANd I maybe ordered nachos forgetting that um Nachos? Are like the CHEEZIEST things ever. It was kinda funny.

Oh, you've so got this in the bag.

My weakness? Cheesecake.

See? Damn cheese...

Sweets are my weakness, and I accidentally demolished about half a bag of devil's food cookies earlier today. Oops.

It's obvious that I need to practice some restraint, too. Let me know how it goes, and if you pick up anything to help!

Cheese, glorious cheese! I'm with you, Katelin. I adore it. Everything is better with cheese.

And best of luck with project bridesmaid! I need to get my butt back in gear, too (it's been difficult, with this crazy-pants HEAT WAVE) and need to start using that Wii Fit again! Argh!
