World travelers.

A couple nights ago Matt and I were talking about just up and going. Anywhere. I think I got butterflies in my stomach at just the thought of it.

We both want to travel, try living somewhere else, be a little crazy for a while and have some fun.

But we've got this little thing called a wedding coming up so world travels isn't really in the cards just yet. However, post wedding, post honeymoon, post save up some more money I think we might really do it. After everything next year I'd like to think that we really will up and go somewhere new. Maybe another state or even another country, even though neither one of us speaks another language. And not plan any of it (okay maybe some of it, who I am kidding, I'm a planner, haha). But just go. Maybe stop renting our apartment, store our stuff somewhere and just go.

And really? This makes me happier than I can even begin to convey.

Do you have any big travel plans coming up (I'm looking at you Nicole, haha) ? Have you done crazy spontaneous long trips? Any advice?

In the meantime this weekend's travels are taking us to our friends' wedding and I couldn't be happier for them.

happy weekend!

*ps. thank you for all your advice and tips about bridal showers yesterday, I'll definitely use it all!*

I always think it would be fun to just up and go somewhere exotic completely spontaneously.

adam and i have friends who did that - their blog is here http://ishouldlogoff.com/ they have great tips about how they saved and prepared for their trip :)

I think doing that would be incredible :)

That's exciting to think about! I think the more you think about it, perhaps the less likely you will do it. I've heard (about many things) that there never seems to be enough money and it never seems to be the right time. Maybe y'all could elope and then take off? :P Just an idea.

What a fun idea! You know I've been traveling all summer and I've loved it, but I'm looking forward to things to settle a bit this fall.

Oh,let's be honest. They probably won't. I'm going up to the northwoods with my roommates this weekend, and then my next trip (and only in September I think) is back to the Chi :)

I'm thinking of joining the Peace Corps...it's something I've wanted to do for a long time, but I'd want to do it before babies come along!

Check out www.singharoundtheworld.com. He's the brother of a friend of mine who took a year and a half sabbatical to travel around the world and hitting every continent.

Doesn't provide a ton of tips on saving and prepping, but does offer some ideas of fun places to go!!

My fiance and I just up and moved 14 hours away to Virginia, right on the ocean (we're talking 100 yds away!). We lived in the midwest our whole lives and just decided to do it. We're loving it so far!

I would totally do this, if I had a job and more than $23 in the bank. :)

A few months ago when I was about to graduate, my friends and I decided we wanted to take a post-graduation vacation... so we started looking up deals online. We booked a cruise that night and less than 4 weeks later we were stepping foot on the ship. That was awesome.

Oh do it so I can live vicariously through you!! I have been talking about this for a while, and we just can't do it. Financially, with the house, the dogs, the job- it's just not possible. I'm learning that home is an adventure too- but it kinda breaks my heart that this isn't in the cards for us.

I have never really done anything to stay but lately I have been dreaming about it... I want to move to Colorado for some reason and well, since I took the bar exam here, that is not in the cards quite yet.

That's so dreamy and romantic :) I love to travel, and wish it wasn't so damn expensive so I could do it more often. I am dying to go out of the country next summer, but we will have just moved, have two mortgages, and two weddings that we'll have to attend, so it's not looking like it will happen for us, but oh, a girl can dream!!

When I was 21 I broke up with my boyfriend, quit my job and moved to England. I loved it. I worked as a nanny and as as barmaid. I travelled around Western Europe. I made lovely friends (who I miss terribly) and had the time of my life. DO IT! You won't regret it.

That sounds like a really awesome plan. I think it's amazing he shares your point of view, traveling and moving will be easier with special someone by yourself. It makes adapting fun.

I just came back from two weeks in Japan. Great place, doesn't necessarily need planning, but costs a ton of money. It's worth it though!

Sounds like you two wood rather put the traveling front & center over the wedding.

Traveling to strange & distant places does sound at least a bit more fantastical than a wedding.

Go 4 it now if you wanna! There may never be a better time.

I'd totally be down for spontaneous travel if I could have internet...

I haven't done it in the past because I'm terrible at saving money. All the times that opportunities have come up I haven't had enough cash to feel comfortable taking off. Plus there's that pesky little thing called work.

The Husband and I are heading to Ireland in October and I am so freaking excited.

I love the idea of spontaneous travel... I just need to make sure I have my xanax prescription filled so that I can get on the plane.

Awesome! Can you stop by NYC or Florida on your way???

This reminds me, I want to get back to the Los Angeles area to visit and hopefully see you this time!

That is so exciting! It is so important to just do it. I tend to be apprehensive about it because of money but at the end of the day, when you look at your bank account and see you haven't saved as much as you hoped, knowing it's because you decided to travel and see new places makes it not even matter!

My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Costa Rica - it is SOOOO cheap to fly there. Last year I went to El Salvador and Guatemala to visit a friend. Flying to Guatemala was incredibly cheap too.

So, like, two hours after you posted this, I went to lunch with the boy and his coworkers and there was mention of a project overseas that they're looking for help on. The boy joked about it but we talked about it later and, inspired by you, I said, "LET'S DO IT."

We may be moving to Guam for three months.

You should look into going to New Zealand or Australia for a working holiday. As long as you are 30 or under, you can get a year long visa and work in the country (up to 6 months with one employer). If you need any more info, let me know. I did my working holiday in Oz and it was awesome.
