I'm a supa-star.

So for a while now I've been getting emails from the Universe (thanks to the lovely Jenn who told me about the site) and I love it. It's always nice to get random ass emails that are sort of like horoscopes, but sort of not that are always entertaining. Well today's I especially liked and felt like sharing. So this is what the Universe had to say to me today:

Ten thousand years from now, Katelin, your presence will still be felt, your name will still be whispered, and your goodness will still be expanding.

And that's just for the stuff you've already done!

You're a supa-star,
The Universe

Now wouldn't that just make your day? Even if it is an automated email, it's nice to get something like that in your inbox.

In other news... I'm going to BlogHer in a week! A week I say! I don't know where the time has gone, but man am I excited. However I am primarily going for work (since it's my job that's sending me) but that doesn't mean I can't have fun and hang out with some of the fabulous bloggers that are going to be there. Seriously, I am pumped. But I also have some questions. I've been reading up on various BlogHer articles and posts and other people's blogs about what to expect and what's going on but I still have some unanswered questions from anyone going or who has gone before, enlighten me please...pretty please?
  • Do people go to all three Break out sessions? I have found one for each time but I just don't know how overwhelming that might be? Granted it'd probably be useful too?
  • Computer or not to computer? Will you be bringing your trusty laptop to the sessions? Or sticking to good ole paper and pens? I can't decide. I'm definitely bringing my computer just don't know if to sessions or not?
  • Is there even time to go out in San Fransico? It seems like there's so much to do I won't even want to explore the city a bit.
  • How are you getting from the airport to the hotel? I'm just considering taxi because I'm pretty bad at maps and public transportation, but we'll see, what do you think?
  • How the crap do I even find the bloggers I know that are going to be there? Will I be creepy if I stare at nametags until I recognize one I know? (I won't be doing that, haha).
BlogHer 08 125x125

Well I guess that's really all the questions I have. The BlogHer guide and website are pretty useful as are some other blogs, so I guess I'll be okay. But let me know what you think.

Anyhoo, I'm off for the weekend. Matt graduates tomorrow so of course I have to be there (weeee!). So check back in for one fabuuuuulous guest blogger and have a most kickass weekend :)

happy thursday!

Oh man I can't wait for BlogHer!

I will definitely be bringing my laptop. I'm live blogging some of the sessions so I need it.

Sunday is pretty much a free day. Jamie and I are using it as our "tourist" day.

We don't know how we're getting from the airport to the hotel. We're flying into Oakland and there doesn't seem to be a shuttle.

Let's exchange cell #s so we can find you there! Vanessa from Random Ramblings... is also going :)

Fun!! I would love to go to BlogHer one day. Maybe after Binary Boy is old enough I can take him along. Hee!

As for your questions... The only one I can answer with any confidence is the getting from the airport to the hotel one.

BART is super easy to use, as is taking a cab, but I always used BART when I visited my best friend up in San Fran (which was pretty often when I lived in So Cal). People are pretty helpful if you ask what stop(s) you need to take to get to "Destination A".

Also, my opinion? I'd take the laptop into the lectures/sessions/whatever. :-)

I hope you have a great time at Blogher! Woot woot!

That's a nice little email to get randomly sent to you, even if they are generic and what not. What's the site?

Ok, I have no answers for your questions since this will be my first BlogHer (well, except for the ride one), but like the commenter above, what kind of job do you have that sends you to BlogHer? I'm so jealous!! :)

Congrats to Matt! How exciting! That's so neat that your job is sending you to blogher! You lucky lady! I'm so jealous! I wish I was going. Boo. That Universe thing sounds pretty neato!

In your shoes, I would totally bring my laptop to the sessions.

1. If you fly into Oakland, you can take the BART bus to the BART, and then take that into SF. Usually, the hotel website should tell you the best MUNI line/BART stop to take.

2. If you fly into SF, take the BART - you just need to take the AirTrain shuttle to the BART stop. It's pretty easy to get to, and once again, find out what MUNI/BART stop to go to.

They make it really easy to get around SF.

Is BlogHer only for women? Because if so I will be there with my, "I'm really really single" sign.

Holy cow I'm going to BlogHer next week for work too! I'll see you there! For me, I made a list of the sessions I want to go to around my work commitments and lan on spending some time in SF in the evenings around the parties. Yes I printed up that list and marked the "must go to" ones.

I'm jealous! I wish I was going to BlogHer! I really need to go next year so that way I can meet some fellow bloggers!

1. I think people do, and some people wander around and talk to people. Your choice.

2. I'm bringing my laptop to SF, but I think it'll stay in my hotel room most of the time.

3. I'm getting there a couple of days early to do the tourist thing, because the BlogHer schedule seems pretty packed. Maybe on the Sunday?

4. I'd go taxi, it seems easier. Although there were good directions in the conference guide.

5. I have no idea, but you have to find me somehow! I think they should have a thing where you put in someone's name and it projects onto a wall and then they know they're wanted.

See you soon!

Did I already tell you that I'm going to BlogHer for work, too?!?!? (And now I'm also curious to know what industry you work in - fun!)

I have your email address so we'll see if we can figure out a time/place to meet.

This is my first BlogHer so I don't have any answers to you questions either, sadly.

I get those emails, too! They always make me smile. They always seem to say just the right thing, too. Isn't it lovely?

And I'm soooo jealous you're going to BlogHer. I just can't rationalize the cost or usage-of-vacation time right now. Bah humbug.
