So I'm going to Chicago in two weeks...

And OHMYGOODNESS I am so excited!!!

So excited I could sing! Ba dum ching.

I'm get in on Tuesday the 21st and I have twoish days to explore the city and hang out with friends and some fam before the BlogHer awesomeness starts that Thursday. And did I say how excited I am? The only times I've been to Chicago have been for layovers in the airport and the one time my family drove through it on our massive road trip 13 years ago where we went to the Hard Rock cafe to buy me a shirt, that's it.

So no longer a youngin and after hearing only great things about Chi Town, I'm quite excited to explore the city.

The Tuesday night I get in I'll be going out with my friend for drinks and just catching up (I can't wait! I haven't seen her since we graduated college three years ago!). Wednesday she has to work so I'll be on my own to explore the city. And this is where you all come in...

What the heck should I see? I'm pretty bad at directions so hopefully Chicagoans are nice folks that will help a lost California girl becaue I can already tell you I'm going to get lost. But I want to see the Bean, possibly Wrigley Field and have some pizza. Other than that I have no idea what to do in Chicago.

So people if you've been to Chicago, live in Chicago what do you suggest I do on my day out? And heck, want to come with me? I'll be exploring until I go to dinner that night with my cousin and hang out with my friend again.

And then Thursday morning I think will be the same thing until I can check into my hotel and start revving up for BlogHer.

So please oh please tell me what to do and how to enjoy this oh so awesome city???

And did I mention I'm excited? :)

happy wednesday!

I have never been to Chicago (well, for more than 3 hours) and really want to go. For some reason I really want to see the mirror bean thingy. Not sure what it's called? Have a blast!

You should be excited! It's a kick-ass city, I assure you (:

Eat a deep dish pizza (SHARE IT. With other people. My two brothers and my dad, who are total pigs, just got through a little more than half.) And check out the architecture - it's phenomenal. Go to Navy Pier and ride the ferris wheel. Go to Millennium Park. And have a bird's-eye view of Chicago from the Sears Tower Skydeck... And yeah. You'll have an awesome time fersuure. Durr, it's Chicago (:

I'm excited that you're coming to Chicago!

I'm a huge tourist, even though I live here. I highly recommend checking out the bean at Millennium Park as well as the new modern wing at the Art Institute.

Oh how nice.

I live about 40 minutes from the city in Naperville. I hope you have fun. I have been to the city a lot, mostly for dining. I agree with getting the deep dish pizza. Lou Malnati's or GINO'S! I would recommend going to the top of the Sears Tower (even though it's now the Willis Tower). I also recommend just walking along Michigan Ave. There is so much on that street and it's a really nice walk.

There are some restaurants to try out. Grand Lux! You must go here. It is on N Michigan Ave, next to Ann Taylor. It isn't too expensive and you overlook the Ave and the portions are huge and there is so much variety on their menu, but it is all good. If you want to go somewhere REALLY nice and won't be tootoo much in the end- Cafe Spiagga (Obama asked the head chef to be chef at the White House..) ha ha

Of course, everyone loves the bean and the museums we have here are great. Shedd, Field, Art Institute, & Science and Industry. Check out second city and perhaps Mary Poppins that's playing!

Enjoy, let me know what you end up doing!

I recommend the boat tour of the skyscrapers - it is very relaxing and the information they provide is amazing - who knew that kind of information would be interesting to average people but it is.

I would definitely suggest getting a two day train pass. It's much cheaper than paying for fares every time you need the train. They can normally be bought at any CVS in/near the city.

The trains actually aren't bad to use. I was just there a couple months ago and I found them pretty easy to get around in.

The Bean is cool, and while you're over there I'd check out the Art Insitute of Chicago. It's pretty neat, and when I was there Oprah and the Olympic Committee were too.

Lincoln Park has some great resturants, and is more artsy vibe.

And if you want to shop, definitely check out the Magnificent Mile. It's great and huge and well...magnificient!

Anyways, have fun and good luck! It's a great town. Even the homeless people are quite friendly.

Have a lovely time!
I'm jealous.
And I won't try to tell you what to see in Chi-Town since it's been ages that I had time in Chi-Town and the one thing I loved is now gone (a very awesome Mom/Pop Italian restaurant.)

I believe you are supposed to eat Deep Dish Pizza and a Chicago Dog! Pizza I had was from Giordano's (I believe) ...

Definitely go to the mirror-bean (CloudGate is it's official name, I think). The Art Institute (which is fairly close to the bean) is my favorite place in Chi-town. Love!

I also HIGHLY recommend the river boat architecture tour (link here), it is deliciously delightful.

There is a fab deep-dish place, Giordano's, really close to the bean as well--it's in the Prudential Plaza (135 E. Lake).

I love Chicago! I am so excited you're going! I can't wait to read all about it.

That's so exciting that you'll be in Chicago! When I was there I wandered around downtown by the "loop area" to where Millennium Park is. The Bean, the pavillion, fountain(s) and art institute are all there and are all so amazing. It makes me want to go back one day just so see it all again!

I LOVE Chicago! My ex had a lot of family that lived there, we would go and visit for holidays. I've also spent way too much time at the airport there!

Have fun!

Uno/Duet or Giordano's for the best Chicago deep dish pizza. Top of the Sears tower is pretty cool, but it's $14 or something like that. Millennium Park. Eat a sandwich at Jimmy John's if you've never had it.
