Jen Loves.

Ciao, amici!

My name is Jen from Freckle on the Nose of Life's Complexion. Katelin's my BFF. IRL.

She used to be my best single friend. Then she was my best engaged friend, and now she's my best married friend!

She's Mrs. Matt! And at this very moment they are celebrating their matrimony in Italy, wink wink, nod nod.

If I didn't love Kate and Matt so much I'd be pretty jealous, yes sir. Instead, I'm thrilled! And a little jealous. But jealousy's not pretty, so let's talk about music instead.

My taste in music is pretty boring. I like my music the way I like my reading material: not too deep or intellectual. I don't like to look for symbolism or hidden meaning, just give it to me straight. I guess I can add lazy and shallow to my taste in music, eh?

Katelin has pretty great taste in music, so how are we friends?

(Because we have almost everything else in common including a love for Dexter Morgan, jumping on beds as an expression of happiness, and dinner selections - we live on opposite coasts and unknowingly had the same salad for dinner last week! Plus we're both corny enough to get excited over twin salads.)

Long story short, the name of the game this week is loooove, so here are some lyrical snippets from my top 10 favorite love songs.

You make the coffee I'll make the bed
I'll fix your lunch and you'll fix mine
Now tell me the truth do these old shoes look funny
Honey, it's almost nine
Now you be careful gotta go, I love you
Have a beautiful day
And kiss the happiest girl in the whole USA
- Happiest Girl In The Whole USA (Donna Fargo)

He's my sunshine in the morning
He's my fireworks at the end of the day
He's the warmest chord I ever heard
Play that warm chord, play and stay, baby
- My Old Man (Joni Mitchell)

The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little prayer for you
- I Say A Little Prayer (Aretha Franklin)

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea
- All I Want Is You (Barry Louis Polisar)

I can hear her heartbeat for a thousand miles
And the heavens open every time she smiles
And when I come to her, that's where I belong
Yet I'm running to her like a river's song
- Crazy Love (Van Morrison)

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
- Your Song (Elton John)

Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
- The Way You Look Tonight (Tony Bennett)

We'll have a little girl, a little boy
A little Benji we call Leroy
But know one needs to know right now
- No One Needs To Know (Shania Twain)

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she's my only one
If my time on earth were through
She must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
- If Tomorrow Never Comes (Garth Brooks)

I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are
- Just The Way You Are (Billy Joel)

Congratulations to my BFF and her hubster! Happy honeymoon!

(Do you miss Kate already? Me too.)

I posted a couple pics (stolen from our lovely friend Liz) on my blog, but I will leave the detailed recapping to Kate. Suffice it to say Katelin and Matt have always been a fun couple and their wedding did NOT disappoint. It was an absolute blast!

Salute, y'all!

A letter to myself.

Dear Katelin a year ago,

So I have a few things to tell you that'll make your life a lot better.

and a picture to show you from your engagement
because you just love it and you loved the whole session
and it gives you endless pictures to use of you and your loooove.

One. I know you want to lose weight and be all fabulous and skinny and super toned arms and a crazy awesome back but I'm just going to tell you now, it's not going to happen. It's okay though, you still look good and you look like yourself and that's all that matters. Oh! And you don't have back rolls on your dress so that is definitely a huge plus.

Oh and speaking of that dress, you find it in December and only try on about five and you love it every time you put it on and you feel classy and elegant and awesome.

Two. I know you said you wanted to have EVERYTHING done way before the wedding so you could relax the week before. But if you know yourself you know that's just not happening. You are pretty ahead of the game and have a lot of things done but ultimately some things get saved til last and you start to stress a little but not too much. However despite the procrastination Matt steps in to save the day, so do family and friends and all sorts of everyone and you are truly blessed.

Three. Diet? What diet. Back to the whole weight loss thing, you eat cheese like it's no one's business and drink wine like it's going out of style (okay maybe not that much but you definitely don't cut back) and that's OKAY. Just because you're getting married doesn't mean you have to change yourself, everyone already likes you for who you are and Matt is marrying you for that reason and that is all that really matters.

Four. Although you might not agree on everything, appreciate your mom. She is so helpful and involved and clearly only wants the best and you should probably thank her every day. Same goes for Kourtney, thank her now and every day for being so helpful and being the stand-in-bride with Matt and being crafty and just being so awesome.

Five. You are marrying your best friend. Don't ever forget that. The planning may get a little nuts and you may squabble a wee bit but don't forget the end result, you'll be walking down the aisle and Matt will be your husband and that's the best outcome of all.

So Katelin, you've got a year until your wedding enjoy every minute of it and don't feel too bad about talking about it endlessly on the blog, your freaders will understand.

Love,
Katelin getting married

happy wednesday!

A Hollywood send off.

Well it's my last Hollywood post for a while so I better make it a good one right? And man I don't even know how I'll function not knowing what's going on in the Hollywood world! I mean what if Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger get married? Or Lindsay Lohan gets an emmy? Or Keanu Reeves stops by my office? So many things can happen in two weeks. But alas I'll be getting all married like and gallivanting in Italy so I can't really complain, I'll just have to be surprised when I get back. Anyhoozits, here we go!
  • Starting out this week's super cuteness we have two of my favorite musical stars, Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel, taking a stroll with their oh so adorable son Walker. I mean really? How is he that freaking cute???

    all sorts of cuteness!!

  • And because I heart them so much and I'm going to miss posting Hollywood stuff that I have to post my favorite family of Hollywood. Seriously Ben, Jen and the girls are just all sorts of cuteness I'm pretty sure I said "awwwww" no less than six times when looking at all of the pictures.

    gah they are so precious!

  • In other bebe news, Orlando Bloom is going to be a dad! His new wife and supermodel Miranda Kerr a are expecting a little one, yay!...Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer got hitched over the weekend, I really do love when people met on sets and fall in love, it's just so dreamy...before Katy Perry was wearing short shorts and candy bras she was taking glamour shots at the mall just like everyone else....ever wanted to know what Sean Penn in drag looks like? Well here's your chance, haha....so Fantasia tried to kill herself, sad I know, but it's going to be featured on her new VH1 show and her new CD comes out today, something is just so wrong about the timing of all of this...Rachel McAdams celebrated the wrap up of her latest movie and looks like she'd be fun to party with...and the cast of the Romantics looks like they had fun doing a J. Crew shoot...

  • In some favoriteness...
SAM WORTHINGTON. Oh wait did I write that in all caps? Why yes, yes I did, SAM gets caps. Anyhoozits, my fellow Hollywood lover Julie was on the lookout for me and tweeted this gem last week. This gem combining two of my favorite things Vampires and SAM. Basically SAM has signed on to play a young Dracula (as well as filming a sequel to Clash of the Titans) and that sounds pretty schnazzy to me. And just because here's Sam coming to LAX last week...

    he makes me swoon...
but Matt makes me swoon more.

Sandy! Looks like she is stepping on up in Hollywood and may be costarring in a movie with Tom Hanks soon. Nicely done lady, nicely done.

Josh is back on the set of Fringe and I think I need to make a detour to Vancouver.

why hey Josh, how you doing?

  • In today's Twilightness....
Stephenie Meyer made FORTY MILLION dollars this past year. And um she hasn't had to write anything in that time (not counting the Bree book) and just wow, can I be her please?

And our boy Rob topped Glamour's 50 Sexiest males list. I mean yeah I could see that.

  • In TV news...
The Creative Emmy's were over the weekend and Betty White and NPH straight dominated, woo woo.

    yay NPH! congrats!

Brothers and Sisters. Looks like the reverend is coming to Pasadena! Which reverend you ask? Only the bestest TV rev ever...REV CAMDEN! And he's a potential love interest for one of the Walkers...which one? Just read the article!

Glee. In case you didn't know miss Brittney Spear herself is making a cameo on Glee this season (in an all Britt Britt episode) and one of the first pictures has already been released. And it's Britt and Britt and I lurve it!

    oooh la la.

  • Lastly in today's WTF news we have a man that thought it would be a good idea to kill the bat in his home with a gun. No really, the man shot up his house while trying to kill a bat. Seriously people?

And that my friends is what's going on in Hollywood, anything I missed? Let me know! And stay awesome Hollywood, stay awesome.

happy tuesday!

Yaaaaaay Wedding Week!

First of all, thank you for all of the kind comments on Thursday's post and OHMYGOD IT'S MY WEDDING WEEK. Okay just had to get that out there, whew.

Anyhoo my last weekend as a non-married woman wasn't all that exciting but it was worthy enough a blog post so here we go:

Friday: Took the day off of work to do all sorts of weddingness including having my last dress fitting (holy crap I adore my dress), bought some stuff and just did more stuff wedding related, basically it was awesome. Afterwards Matt and I had a little date night with a delicious dinner and wine and just fun lovey dovey times. Once we got home we made our way to the local dive bar nearby to meet up with my parents and aunts and uncles for a night of champagne and cheersing to our future marriage. On top of it my aunts and uncle got us the luggage we registered for and ah! Yay luggage! And basically just yay to the night all around.

Saturday: Slept in which was nice and then made my way to Old Town for some shopping (I have a serious dress addiction and hell Steve Madden shoes too, I heart them) and some other pre-wedding errands. After all sorts of shopping I came home to watch some Stardust (oh how I love that movie, almost as much as Love Actually and Pride and Prejudice) and nap and just ahhhh, glorious. Matt and I had dinner at his dad's and watched a movie and just enjoyed our ONE WEEK day, haha. The rest of our night was spent being silly and basking in the ohmygoshweregettingmarriedness (well basically it was just me).

Sunday: I indulged in an SVU marathon for most of the day and it was awesome, oh how I love me some Eliot and Olivia. Eventually Matt came home and we had a Target run and I went walking with my mom and it was just a lovely afternoon. Once I got home I made myself a delicious dinner before my friend Megan came over for an evening of Clash of the Titans and pre wedding chat and wine drinking and just all around loveliness.

And because I can't have a post without a picture, admire our kitchen or what used to be our kitchen and is now the wedding storage facility, haha.

ridiculous right?
and yes a sombrero is making
its way to our wedding.

So um I may or may not mention that I'm getting married this Saturday EVERY SINGLE DAY THIS WEEK and I hope you still like me afterwards.

Anyhoozits, how was your weekend?? Any SVU watching or wine drinking?

happy monday!

Surreal.

My life right now. Surreal. I think that word sums it up quite nicely.

These past few days I've sort of felt like I've been looking at my life from the outside. All of the texts and Facebook posts and tweets reminding me that my wedding is only nine days away just don't feel like they're really coming to me, but to someone else.

To Someone else marrying a Matt (I mean it is totally possible. Michelle just married her Matt and Rachel is marrying her Matt soon) and not me.

I don't know what it is or what is going on with me but this whole "I'm getting married" thing just doesn't seem real. Don't get me wrong, I am more than excited to marry Matt and have our wedding already, it's just...I don't know....weird.

And as you've read on here in the past "grown up" things always astound me and hell getting married is pretty damn grown up and I just feel like I'm walking in some real adult shoes and it's pretty damn awesome.

So yeah, NINE DAYS people, NINE FREAKING DAYS. Let that one soak in.

But then again it's just NINE DAYS until I marry my best friend and I can hardly wait.

happy thursday!

A most loverly day in Hollywood.

And we're finally back with the Hollywoodness that I so very much adore. I feel like I've missed out on so much but anyhoo, here goes it:
  • Bringing some major cuteness to Hollywood we have Garcelle Beauvais-Nillon and her twin boys Jade and Jax. I mean seriously those boys are freaking adorable.

can these be my future kids?
    please?

  • Also bringing some major cuteness is little Honor Warren with mama Jess. Seriously her cocked eyebrow is so funny and precious, I love it.

    so dang adorable.
  • Also in some bebe news, Barney Stin....er Doogie...er Neil Patrick Harris and his partner are expecting twins! Twins! I mean of course they are, only twins are born in Hollywood, but still, yay I am so excited for them! They will be fabulous dads! Also a parent-to-be is singer Alanis Morisette! Seriously she is just adorable and will be such a fabulous mom.

  • In other Hollywood news...Erykah Badu had to pay a $500 fine after filming a music video naked in Dallas...Tila Tequila was assaulted on stage as she performed for ICP fans, I mean I don't like her and all but to attack her? Yikes!...Robert Downey Jr. and his wife went on a double date with Jude Law and Sienna Miller, um, cool? Fun times?...Hillary Duff and Mike Comrie got hitched over the weekend, congrats to them, I mean I have always been a Hillary fan and I sort of have a couple of her songs on my ipod...the True Blood trio is rocking out on the cover of Rolling Stone and wow is it scandalous....Speaking of scandalous, Lawrence Fishburne's daughter is a porn star! I mean wow....and George Clooney is looking mighty Clooneyish (yeah I have no idea what that means) in promo pics for his new movie, The American (which I sort of want to see)...

why hello there to you too.

  • In some favoriteness...
Michael C. Hall was on set of the new season of Dexter and I really shouldn't look since I'm only through two seasons, but man he is swoony.

oh Dex you're just so Dex.

Also a fave, Gwen Stefani looking absolutely divine in a LBD on her way out with the hubby. I mean really, does she always have to look so good??

    seriously, how does this woman
    always look so damn good???

  • And in today's Twilight news...
Rob and Kristen are soooo official now. I mean totally. I mean they were making out. I mean I do not freaking care.

Although Kristen should be worried about Rob, he does look pretty cozy with Katy, haha.

    freaking love this.

  • In music news...
In case you didn't see my tweets, I got to interview the top 5 American Idol contestants from last season yesterday. The videos will be up later but I may or may not have developed a slight crush on all of them because they were just so dang funny and cute and did I mention funny? Yeah it was a great time all around and I just may be getting a hang of this whole interviewing thing.

  • In movie news...
So you know I just finished reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (wait you didn't? Um check out my reading page and you'll know what booked I'm currently trapped in) right? And apparently Hollywood is making it a movie (like that's a surprise, Sweden's already made a version I can't wait to watch) and has already cast Robyn Wright, Stellan Skaarsgard and Daniel Craig as lead characters and now the leading lady herself has been cast to someone relatively unknown.

  • In TV news...
GLEE! Seriously I can't wait for this show to come back. And although there are going to be a million and a half guest stars I do love that we'll be meeting Sue's mom played by Carol Burnett! I also love this new promo poster for season 2, I mean is it here yet? I need more musical in my life.

Grey's Anatomy. Apparently Jesse Williams is going to be getting half nekkid on screen and there is no way I will complain about that, oooh la freaking la.

  • And lastly in today's WTF news we have the newest delicacy to come out of Denny's...the fried cheese melt. I mean even I have my limits. Who the eff thought of this???

So anything I missed? Probably because I've been so freaking out of touch with Hollywood, it's sort of scary. So let me know!

happy wednesday!

Some weekend Swissness.

So the posts might be light this next week and a half but when I do post it'll be good stuff, I promise! Anyhoozits like a crazy person I went out of town last weekend and trekked up north to Salinas to celebrate my Swissness with lots and lots of family and as always it was a fabulous time.

Friday: Took a half day from work and road tripped it up north with my sister and my cousin Bryan. Luckily it didn't take us to long to get to our cousins' house and when we got there the drinks were poured, the laughs were had and it was just a wonderful night all around.

Saturday: After sleeping in for a bit we watched some Glee (I mean yes, I love that my cousins love Glee!) and relaxed before heading over to Brian and Cathy's house for their 40th anniversary party! Seriously, 40 years! I was definitely teary when they danced together and I just love the love. Okay enough rambling, let's share some family pics:

the happy couple still very much in love.

I adore their back yard.

Kenji and Kristine gettin down, haha.

Julie and David playing some lasso golf.

Bryan made a new friend, haha.

It was quite a fun afternoon of good eats, lots of drink and a good time all around. Eventually we made our way back to Kenji and Kristine's place for a night of beer pong, talking smack, wine drinking, laughing, and ridiculousness all around. Basically I love being with my cousins.

Sunday: Picnic day! Every year we make our way to Gonzalez for an afternoon of Swiss music, Swiss family and lots of great food. This year was no different as I enjoyed the company of everyone and just had fun.

woo woo, Swiss!

a snippet of the fam.

a bunch of the fam, there's just a small number
of us, haha.

Right after the picnic me, Bryan and my sister made our way back home like crazy people. Then again it was also smart since we all had work on Monday. It didn't take us too long to get home and I was a horrible passenger and passed out for a while but man was I exhausted.

All in all it was a super fun weekend with lots of family that I can't wait to see again soon at my wedding.

and how was your weekend? Anything fabulous I missed?

happy tuesday!

Friday, August 13, 2010

I love.

Taking a page from my friend Jen, I feel like today is a day that the love just needs to be shared. So here's what I'm currently loving...
  • When my newest favorite song comes on the radio and I can finally sing it at the top of my lungs.

  • The healthy feeling I get when I eat dried cranberries for a snack instead of the entire bag of white cheddar popcorn.

  • Hearing my little brothers talk about my wedding.

  • A road trip with my sister and cousin to Salinas to hang out with my ginormous family.

  • That I'm insane enough to take yet another vacation two weeks before my wedding, haha.

  • Accosting posters of Edward.

    thanks Lacey for the awesomeness.

  • Reading other recaps from BlogHer.

  • That in two weeks all of my closest friends and family will be here and it will be glorious and oh, oh I'm also getting married, no biggie though.

  • Having spontaneous date nights and learning new things about Matt.

  • This Kate Spade book of the month clutch. Seriously I don't even use clutches but I kind of sort of want it.

  • Putting on a soft shirt right out of the laundry.

  • Knowing so many talented bloggers who have made me pretty things for the wedding.

  • Drinking wine on a Thursday night...or any night.

So what are you loving these days? I mean let's always remember it's all about the little things, little things people.

Hope you have a love-filled weekend! Woo!

happy friday!

Tutus, Unicorns and Cheeseburgers...aka BlogHer Part Deux.

Part I of the BlogHer bonanza here.

So Saturday, oh Saturday. Woke up nice and early went to a few sessions, met some new people, wandered the expo hall, had lots of cheese samples and cookie samples and saw the sun...

Basically it was another awesome day at the conference and I loved every minute of it.

Eventually I decided to take a break and go on a little stroll with Lilu, Lacey and Jess where we came across a wonderful happy hour. And from one happy hour to another we made our way to Johnny Utah's for the 20SB NYC Meetup. It was so fun to see some of my favorites and meet some new bloggers. Oh and did I mention that this whole time I was rocking a tutu and ballerina flats and Lilu was rocking out with a cape and a boa? Yeah you can say it: BADASS. (or ridiculous, either one applies here).

the whole fabulous crew. heartfaces all around.

me and miss Doniree looking quite devious.

After the meetup it was time for Sparklecorn and CheeseburgHer, hands down the most fun parties at BlogHer. I went to Sparklecorn last year and I've been to I believe four precious Cheeseburgher parties and just wow. Every time it gets a little more nuts and a little more fun and a lot more crazy. I mean why am I still rambling, just let the pictures do their job.

I mean yes, this cake was awesome and the
Ace of Cakes people made it! I=in awe.

I mean of course I had to take a picture
with Dex.

Lilu and Lacey have some kick ass moves.

it's Rich!!! aka the man that writes the
best
Top Model recaps ever.
And I made sure to tell him that nonstop.
foot-in-mouth moment like wo.
I mean wo.
Just ask Lacey.

I mean yeah, I miss her already.

Rocking the hat and tutu to the max.

Lacey, Jamie and Me rocking our burger hats.

love the photo booth pic.
so silly.

And then, AND THEN. You didn't think the night ended there did you? AND THEN Came the video. The video that is just too ridiculous for words. As in Jamie and Katelin video blog BlogHer for the THIRD year in a row (with special guest Lacey ) and it's just too much. So much in fact that if you want to see it you have to email me for the password, haha. I know, silly right? But um I have a reputation to keep (well sometimes). So email me or Lacey or Jamie and we'll pass it on (if we're not too embarrassed), hopefully, haha.

And then Sunday I went to a glorious brunch with some of my faves where there were two for one bellinis and a frittata and it was awesome and then an afternoon in Central Park and Rachel came and my day was made. Pretty much I loved my weekend in the city with some of my favorite girls doing some of my favorite things and I cannot wait to go back and hang out with them all again.

Also don't forget to check Lilu's recap of the night and Lacey's of the whole conference, woo.

So that, that was BlogHer and it was awesome and I'm finally mostly recovered. Now get excited because 2011 it's in San Diego? Who's coming with me?!

happy thursday!

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

A real BlogHer recap...Part I at least.

Okay well I'm sure you've already read some of the recaps but I just have to have a real one don't I?

Thursday I made it into NYC and to my hotel with barely enough time to relax before I was on my way to the Social Luxe lounge a couple of blocks away (oh and did I mention I walked four blocks in the wrong direction at first, I am so NOT a city girl it's ridiculous). The party was a total hit and so much fun. I was there partially for work (Ghiradelli was our client) and partially to have fun and mingle with friends and have a great time, which I totally did.

After the party I made my way to Bryant Park Grill for a Nikon party where I was reunited with Doni and Jess and got to meet Jeanna. I also won a photo shoot with some schnazzy pants photographer so I'll be sure to share those pictures when I get them because I definitely practiced what Tyra taught me. After eating more appetizers than I can count and several margaritas I was ready to call it a night (I mean I did just get in that day and had three more days ahead of me!), so to bed I went!

Friday was the first full day of the conference and it was pretty crazy as usual. So many people I knew and so many I had no idea who they were and there were sessions an exhibition hall and it was just nuts.

Friday night was quite the awesome night though. It started out by hitting up the official Kirtsy sponsored BlogHer gala where blog posts were interpreted through art forms and all sorts of other lovely things occurred.

the awesome Karen from Chookooloonks
painted this on me after asking what I was proud of
and I said "being mixed." I sort of love this new nickname.

one of my favorite pieces.

After the gala I made my way to Brand About Town's Nintendo sponsored dinner. Needless to say it was awesome. We rode Mario driven rickshaw's through Central Park and had dinner at the Boat House and it was awesome and I love blogger friends and Nintendo and just awesomeness all around.

sort of love this one of Central Park with the
Mario flag in the corner, haha.

after our rickshaw ride, Caroline, Jamie,
me and Jess ready for dinner!

me and my roomie for the weekend, Lacey.

It was just fun to hang out and be silly with my friends and I got to see the oh-so-adorably pregnant Katie and meet her husband John and just sort of heart her even more and I drank lots of wine and ate delicious food and basically I heart Brand About Town a little more every day.

Pretty much it was an excellent start to the weekend. And Saturday and Sunday were even more awesome that I can't fit it all into one post, so just wait until tomorrow for some tutus, and Dexter assault and fangirl ridiculous moments and silly dancing and all around fantastical.

So come back tomorrow for the rest of my crazy New York weekend, woo!

happy wednesday!
