Random is my middle name.

Disclaimer: Today's post will be scatter brained and a little bit all over the place, so don't say I didn't warn you. Here goes.

I absolutely love reading a book and knowing that it won't take me forever to get through it. If you recall it took me quite a while to finish Wicked and it was so completely frustrating. As much as I ended up loving the book overall, it dragged on in places and I wasn't as captivated as I've experienced with other books which was a little disheartening. However, do not fear. My faith in books and fantastic authors has definitely been revitalized. On Monday I started reading Khaled Hosseini's latest novel A Thousand Splendid Suns. Now I don't know if I've mentioned it before or not, but Kite Runner is one of my favorite books ever. I couldn't put that book down. Although it covered tough subjects and was in no way an "easy read" I just remember while reading it, it was all I thought about. I thought about the characters when I wasn't reading it and wondering what was going to happen next, and that's what I love about reading. So of course I was so excited when the same thing happened on Monday when I started reading his new novel. He builds characters so passionately and intricately that I can't help but to wonder about them and grow attached within a matter of pages. So needless to say I am beyond excited to read this book and can't wait to see what happens next.

Why do I smell cheese right now? No really. Where is that coming from. Don't tease me cheese gods.

Ah! Hello Keanu. You shaved, I love it. Where have you been hiding lately? Don't you have a bad movie to promote soon? Speaking of which, as much as I heart you and see all your films this movie just looks beyond bad. And I really don't know if I can watch you play another cop that isn't named Jack Traven, because let's be honest here, that was your best role ever. However, thanks to the wonders of gift certificates I may end up seeing it and not feeling thaaaaat guilty.

Oh! Oh! Thursday at 7 am you can go to People.com to see exclusive pictures of the Lopez-Anthony twins! Oh! Ummmm. WTF People. I don't care thaaaaat much to see those babies. No need for a major alert on your page, seriously, come on now.

Speaking of celebrity babies, my girl Halle had her baby girl on Sunday and the name was released yesterday. Nahla Ariela Aubry. Um. Is she a Disney fan? Because really the name is like Lion King and Little Mermaid put together. Or as other people have speculated, Ariela sounds a lot like Areola which is a part of the boob...umm, Halle didn't you think about this? I had such high hopes for your child. Oh well. What she lacks in a name will be made up in cuteness I presume.

Last night I dreamed about Ace of Cakes. I had to serve cake to thousands of people, good god it was tedious, especially since it was such a difficult cake to cut in the first place. And there was a guy dressed as a tin man who kept coming back for seconds and thirds and I had to swat him away with a spatula, what the hell? Who dreams about that?

It's Wednesday, which means two things: spinning and America's Next Top Model. Fierce!

happy wednesday!

I don't understand the craziness over baby photos, either. I mean, all tiny babies look kind of similar, right? They just are going to look like tiny babies!

Oh thanks! I didn't know they released Halle's little girl's name. I kind of like it but you are right it is a little heavy on the Disney!

Also thanks for the ANTM reminder.

I've considered pastry school just so I can intern at Charm City Cakes and hang out with Duff and Mary Alice. I watch that show all. the. time.

I don't mind Nahla Ariela (laughing at the nipple thing) but how often are kids actually called by both names? Nahla on it's own is ok I think. And ANTM, yay! I do love that show.

I do love your randomness.

The Kite Runner is a brilliant novel. I haven't read A thousand splendid suns, I will pick it up next time that I find myself in a book store.

Haha! I thought the same thing about Halle naming her baby after Disney characters! Funny!

And yes, A Thousand Splendid Suns and Kite Runner are both amazing books. I couldn't bring myself to see the movie though. It's one thing to read about all of that stuff, but I can't imagine trying to watch it...

I started reading A Thousand Splended Suns, but then I just sort of lost interest. (This happens with everything ever. So I'm sure it's a good book, it's just me.)

And speaking of things that don't hold my interest: Ace of cakes is an awful show. BORING.

Isn't Khaled Hosseini just brilliant? I've read both books and recently saw The Kite Runner movie, which was so well done!

Try reading Three Cups of Tea next if you enjoy books about that region.

I loved that booook!!

It had me from the first line where it said something like, Her mother always called her a bastard, or something like that.

It is so good. Get out the tissues!

Guess who was just filming up on my campus?
Mr. Reeves!
Alas, no star spotting.

(I'm having deja-vu... did I tell you this before?)

Two things...

1. Reading the Tin Man dream...maybe he just needed an oil can and you denied him.

2. Forest Whitaker is in that movie with Keanu...he does not make bad movies...right?!

I agree about the Disney part but Ariela sounds really pretty, especially in spanish. But you're right, it does sound like Areola. At least she'll be pretty. Hopefully.

I loved those two books. They would both have to be in my top ten of all time. I think I liked A Thousand Splendid Suns (dare I say) even more than The Kite Runner. A-mazing book.

"Don't tease me, cheese gods." Mua-ha. :)
