Nintendo in New York.

So I was home and then I was in Greensboro and then I was home again and then a day later I was off to New York City. Seriously how is this my life? Anyhoozits, why was I in NYC you ask? Well it's because Nintendo is just all sorts of awesome and fabulous and invited me out there to experience the launch of the Nintendo 3Ds. Ridiculous right? Basically the last couple of days were a whirlwind of awesome and a recap is definitely in order, so in my best attempts here goes:

Tuesday: Up early, picked up Jenn, said goodbye to Matt at the airport, made it on the plane (apparently Julianne Moore was on board with us), slept on the plane and before I knew it we were in NEW YORK!

We stayed at the Empire Hotel and ohmygod I loved my room, so swanky and chic and lurve. And then the lobby, the lobby people. It was like a jungle party of awesomeness.

Eventually it was time to get ready for dinner and it was just so fun going next door to Jenn's room and doing a running hug with Doni and showing off our outfits before finally meeting up with Justine and the rest of the ambassadors. Then we strolled on over to Asiate for one hell of a dinner. I mean really, it was freaking fabulous. I had crab linguini and duck and a cheese plate, a CHEESE PLATE people! All around it was a fabulous welcome to New York City.

There were lots of laughs and good times and wine and just fun getting to know the other ladies. The night ended with drinks at the bar and silly stories and eventually melting into the magical comforter in my bed, truly loveliness.

Wednesday: Slept in a bit before going on a coffee/hot chocolate trek with Doni and Jenn to start off our morning. New York is so damn chilly and brisk and busy and just lovely all around. Well except the birds, I cannot stand those damn pigeons, I screamed every time, haha.

Eventually everyone met up and went to a lovely place for a pizzaful lunch. No really, we got eight pizzas and some salads and ohmygod it was heavenly, HEAVENLY. After lunch we took a field trip to the Nintendo World Store, talk about Nintendo awesomeness. Not only that, but Justine surprised us all with two hundred dollars each to spend in the store, say what!?!?! It was so fun. I got a couple new Wii games and explored the store and ah, it was just great!

After our shopping spree we were all treated to getting our hair and makeup done at Blow salon. It was so swanky and fun and ohmygod there was a cheese plate and champagne and yeah. So I ended up getting the naturalish makeup look and the Foxy Brown (err Foxy Cleopatra) hairstyle (as Matt called it once I texted him a picture, haha).

After we were all beautified it was time for the big event, the Nintendo 3DS launch party!! It was quite the event with lots of stations set up to try several of the new games on the new systems (and oh man are they awesome) and delicious food being passed around and plenty of bars and Samantha Ronson on the turntables and did I mention the games?

After playing all of the games, praising Samantha Ronson for her DJing skills and drinking plenty of wine we decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel. Although the night didn't really end there and Doni, Jenn and I decided to change into some warmer clothes and venture out into the city. It was a very "whip my hair" kind of fantastic evening of strolling and laughing and eating New York pizza and taking silly pictures and trying not to get hit by cabs. Basically, one fabulous Wednesday night.

Thursday: Woke up way too early, checked out, fell asleep on the car ride to the airport, got onto the plane and fell asleep for the whole five hours (whoops, no reading for me I suppose). When we got back to LAX I realized that we had yet another celebrity on our flight, Chase Crawford (who is both tall and cute). Now all I need is an awesome celebrity encounter (I know, I'm just so picky, haha). And then I was home again and the whirlwind was over, but oh so fabulous.

Anyhoo all I can say is thank you Brand About Town and Nintendo for one of the classiest and geekiest most awesome mid week adventures ever.

A Very Tacky Weekend.

Oh what a weekend, clearly it was such an exhausting weekend that there was no post about it yesterday! And seriously I had the post all ready to write in my head and then just couldn't make it happen, oy freaking vey.

Nonetheless the weekend was superb so let's recap it shall we?

Friday: After work Matt and I went to my aunt and uncles house for a night of tacos and margaritas with them and and my sister and her boyfriend my cousins who were both in town. It was so delicious and so fun hanging out and catching up, just loverly all around. After dinner we all moseyed on over to our favorite dive bar and spent the rest of the night there picking awesome songs on the juke box and drinking cheap drinks and laughing away, tre awesome.

Saturday: Despite the rain I had errands to run! And baking to do! And things to prep to get ready for our Tacky Sweater Party! So basically my morning was a bit hectic. And it was quite awesome to get a nice surprise from Nintendo in the middle of the day:

I mean just when I think they can't get any cooler and cuter they send me freaking cookies! And yeah there was a game in there too, haha. It was the 25th anniversary Mario All Stars game that has all the classics on there. Needless to say, for his break in the day Matt had quite a good time playing this.

Anyhoo like I said, Saturday nigh we had our third annual Tacky Sweater Party. It wasn't nearly as packed as the year before and I blame the rain and uber busy schedules but it was still a great time with everyone that came. So of course I have pictures for you:

All in all it was a lovely turn out with good friends (the fabulous Ali even stopped by, somehow we didn't take a picture, pure blasphemy!), lots of cider (in my case a little too much), awesome sweaters, yummy treats, good music (I mean I was DJ so I have to take credit) and just funness all around.

Sunday: Note to self: You are not 21, so stop drinking like it. Apparently drinking cider and wine and doing peppermint patty shots was not my greatest ideas since I paid for it alllll day Sunday. I woke up long enough to move to a couch, enjoy a breakfast burrito (thank you Andrew!) and sort of watch some football before falling asleep again. In the meantime Matt was a saint and cleaned up the place and did all sorts of productive things while I barely functioned. Somehow in my sleepiness we made it to our friend's annual cookie party and it was so fun to see them, even if I was half asleep, haha. After the party we came home and I went to bed at 8:30. Seriously, what the eff is that? Then again, I really needed it and it totally paid off.

Oh hello Monday, I was so not ready for you today I really wasn't, but alas you are here. With that, my weekend was lovely and relaxing and just how I like it.

Friday: After work I came home and Matt informed me that we were dressing up and going out. So I put on one of my favorite dresses, he put on a new suit and we went to a little Italian place in Old Town and had a lovely date night that made me think of our honeymoon. After dinner we came home and hung out for a bit before Jeff came back in his matching suit and we were on our way to our favorite dive bar.

Clearly we were the classiest kids in the place and it was just funny all around. The rest of the night was spent drinking and laughing and dancing in our seats and just having a good time all around.

Saturday: Had a relaxing morning before getting ready and setting up to have some of my friends over for a little Wii Party Party. Brand About Town was awesome enough to send me the new game and a Dominos gift card along with a remote and a disco ball (so ridiculous but so awesome) to throw a little shin dig to try the game out. So I decided to invite my sister and some of my friends that I hadn't really got to hang out with since my wedding.

Basically it was a great afternoon. The pizza was delicious, we snacked on popcorn and laughed our way through trying to figure out the games. The mini games were always the funniest as they always had us doing something different and ridiculous and clearly none of us were gamers.

We all switched off with the remotes and got sufficient play time and got to talk smack to each other and laugh and it was just a great afternoon all around.

I spent the rest of the day relaxing at home since I was sans drivers license. I even tapped into my sentimental side and watched Phantom of the Opera and definitely found myself getting teary while singing along (sometimes I just don't understand myself, haha). Basically it was a lovely and fun day all around.

Sunday: Slept in a bit before relaxing some more and finishing up season 4 of Dexter (I mean, just no. What am I going to watch now?!?) and sleeping and playing the Sims (clearly I have an addiction, along with a new addiction to ramen and cup of noodle but that's another post for another day, haha). There was a small break from not being a recluse where I went walking with my mom (yeah we're doing the half marathon again in February so I should probably get back on the walking wagon) and then came home and relaxed some more watching football with Matt and reading and swooon to Sundays sometimes.

So like two weeks ago I got this fabulous package from Brand About Town/Nintendo (I mean really, when do they NOT send me something fabulous?) and I've been so behind and slacking in my blogging that I forgot to share it.

Anyhoo, what did they send me you ask? Only the coolest and cutest little top hat ever (oh and the newest Professor Layton game that I have yet to play because Matt hijacked it as soon as I opened it).

So obviously this little hat inspired today's blog title, and it's also inspired me to make a few shout outs to some things I'm tipping my hat to (is that even the saying? oh well, you get it right? right?). And here we go:

OCTOBER! Seriously hats off to the entire month of October. It's always been one of my favorite months (if not favorite all around), especially when I was in Ohio and oh just swoon. Seriously this month makes me swoon over fall and sweaters and windy evenings and pasta meals and just swooooon.

Ben Affleck. The Town? I am impressed. I mean ya you drop F bombs left and right and there's just a little too much Boston going on but I really enjoyed this movie. Nicely done sir, nicely done.

My husband (man I love saying that). for being awesome and somehow finding a place for all of our wedding presents and loving me and my slightly craziness (or total craziness, either way).

Busyish Relaxingish Awesomeness.

Oh what a wonderful weekend indeed, seriously it was a good combination of busy and lazy and I just loved it. So shall we break it down? Here we go!

Friday: After work my sister and Matt came and picked me up and we were on our way to see my favorite band, O.A.R. in concert!!! Seriously I love them and their music and just ah all around. Pretty much we got great spots at the Wiltern and just hung out and watched the great openener, A.L.O. (yes it was the night of acronym bands). The only major downer was at the very end of the opening act Matt got hit in the head with a camera. Yes, like an actual video camera filming the show on a big beam and everything came down and hit Matt directly on the head. I freaked out and went and got people to come look at his head and Matt tried to be all manly and say it didn't hurt, but it did. Luckily the rest of the show went on without any additional injury although Matt's head did hurt a bit.

All in all it was a great show and I'm so glad O.A.R. came to LA and they are welcome back any time!

Saturday: Slept in a bit before going with my mom and my friend Katrina to try on my wedding dress!!! It wasn't actually a fitting since they suggest I don't do that until July but I really wanted to just see the dress and try it on and ohmygod you guys I'm still in love. My dress is so classy and elegant and ah! Love it. And the most amazing thing was that it was actually big (especially in the bust! so unheard of for me, haha). Pretty much the dress is great and my shoes look good with it and I cannot wait to put it on again and again!

After hanging out a bit with my mom and Katrina I came home and relaxed for a couple hours and caught up on the DVR before heading out with Matt to my aunt and uncle's house for a nice night together. My aunt and uncle treated Matt and I to dinner and a movie as a belated birthday gift and it was so fun! We had a pretty laid back dinner before heading to Gold Class to see Iron Man 2. The movie was pretty good, the atmosphere was awesome and it was just a good night all around. After the movie we hung for a bit, watched some Big Bang Theory and just had a good time. Pretty much a wonderful night.

Sunday: Slept in again (oh how I love sleep) and woke up realizing I had nothing to do. So with that I decided to watch some TV and then reinstall the Sims on my computer. Pretty much I knew it was a bad idea but I couldn't help it. I love the Sims. Whenever I start playing I play for hours, days at a time and ah, I get addicted (like that's a surprise...) So yeah I did that for a couple hours before I went walking with my mom at the Rose Bowl. After walking Matt and I headed over to my parent's house for dinner which was fun and then ultimately ended the night at home playing the Sims and watching TV and drinking wine, aka a win, haha.

So yes, it was a loverly busyish/relaxingish weekend and I lurved it.

My latest obsessions.

As we all know, I have sort of an obsessive/addictive behavior. I mean as soon as I find something I really like I get hooked on it (seriously it's a good thing I've never smoked or done drugs because I don't even want to think about my behavior then).

So lately I've developed some fun obsessions/addictions lately that I feel like you should know about on this fine Friday, so here we go.

• Sporcle.com. This site has definitely fueled my need to know country names and US presidents and professional sports teams and all sorts of other random facts and I lurve it.
  
  
• "Airplanes" by B.o.B (still the lamest name ever) featuring Hayley Williams from Paramore. Seriously I cannot get enough of this song! I freaking love it. And you probably should too.
  
  
• Brown rice. I've had it every day for lunch this week and it is deeeelicious.
  
  
• Wedding planning. I mean the fact that it's four months away was a pretty big wake up call that some big things still need to get done. I'm not freaking out about it or anything, just having way too much fun making google docs and bookmarking cute blogs and writing down emails for DJs and videographers (any recs are welcome). Basically it's loverly.
  
  
• All things Italian. As much as I am excited for our wedding I am just as excited to trek around Italy for a two week honeymoon. It also helps that we have lots of fun books to read about to get us ready and excited and I heart them all, woo!

The best things come in big packages.

A couple weeks ago I was surprised when there a big box with my name on it waiting for me at home.

When I opened it I was surprised to find the new DSi XL from my friends at Nintendo and Brand About Town! Basically it was awesome. And I am in love.

Basically the new DS is a lot bigger than the original and just as cool except it has a dual camera (which I have yet to use but will eventually) and the internet connection seems to work better than my DSi does and it's just pretty and fun and I love it.

I haven't even played the games that were preloaded to the DSi yet because I'm still stuck on Style Savvy, yes, still. So stuck on it that I even played it on my birthday and I was all excited because I got a special outfit from Dominic and I told Julie about it on twitter and ummm I might have issues.

So basically the DSi XL is perfect for the blind person like me and I love it's awesome color and the huge screen and the whole thing overall is just superb and you should probably get one for yourself (and then get Style Savvy and we can have contests against each other and it will be awesome....er forget I said it, just get a DS, haha).

My birthday is nine days away. Nine! And I swear you wouldn't even know it because I've barely talked about my birthday this year. I mean it doesn't even really seem like it's happening. I mean last years' birthday was just so epic (read awesome) and so planned out I don't know that I'll ever get near that awesomeness again. Nonetheless my birthday is coming up and plans are sort of being made and so of course I have a wishlist. So here we go:

In the city of McSteamy. (and McDreamy).

So did I mention that I'm in Seattle right now? I didn't? My bad. Well, I'm in Seattle!

I love Seattle.

I mean how could I not LOVE this???

I first went to Seattle on a class trip in high school where we visited Olympic national park and stayed in cabins and skipped rocks on the lake and did day hikes and it was all green and glorious and pretty and I think it rained maybe half a day, out of a whole freaking week. The second time I went to Seattle was when my mom and I spent seven days checking out fourteen colleges between Seattle and Portland (to say it was a little nuts was an understatement). And the whole week we were checking out schools...freaking gorgeous weather again, not a single day of rain! So when application time came I actually only applied to two of those fourteen schools because I had to keep reminding myself that one of the schools had underground tunnels because it rained so much (and ohmygod that scared the bejeebus out of me) and I don't like rain, I'm much rather endure snow (hello Ohio).

So basically Seattle has spoiled me. And according to weather.com I'm about to get spoiled again with 63 degree weather, sunshine and a 0% chance of rain. Now hopefully I'm not jinxing myself or anything but three trips to Seattle with only like 3% rain ever is sort of a miracle right? I think Seattle loves me. And that's quite alright because I love Seattle too (I mean hello, Grey's Anatomy takes place there, how could I not love it!??! I kid, I loved it before Seattle Grace took over).

And why am I in Seattle? Because I'm hanging out with Justine and some other fabulous Brand About Town people to share my love of Style Savvy (no really, I'm obsessed. Matt will vouch for this. And so will Julie since 75% of our conversations are discussing this game) with some young ladies from Powerful Voices. Awesome right? Basically I'm quite excited to be back in Seattle and to be doing something I love.

All about the weekend.

So another weekend has come and gone and as always it happened way too fast because I am not quite ready for today to be Monday. So weekend, here we go...

Friday: Made a delicious dinner with Matt then sat back to watch some DVRed shows and drink some wine. However I got a text from my aunt and uncle asking if we wanted to meet them at the bar and we were all over it, haha. So we went out for some drinks and had a great time before coming back home to hang out with my sister and her friend Jess and we played some Movie Fact or Crap and then some Scene It for the Wii again and it was all sorts of awesome.

Saturday: Woke up to do some Wii Fit and EA Active (which kicked my butt, ohhhhman) before getting a start on the day. Matt and I had a delicious lunch at the Counter. If you've never been to the Counter then you are seriously missing out, it is all sorts of deliciousnes. After running some errands I headed over to Tara's fabulous Degree Red Satin party to watch the SAG awards.

I was seriously on cloud 9 to watch an awards show with other people and the fact that it was fun people and I got to see Tara and be all girly and get a manicure and fun schwag and some Degree deodorant. Basically it was a loverly evening. Afterwards Matt picked me up and we went down to Redondo to hang out and have dinner with our friend Mike and his girlfriend and his friend and we went to Buca and it was delicious and more wine was consumed and laughs were had and basically an all around great night.

Sunday: Slept in til 10 (I almost forgot how wonderful that feeling is) before getting to work in the kitchen to help Matt make some goodies for football watching. Basically did that, watched a bit of football with the crew, then walked nine miles, holy soreness, haha. The rest of my night was spent not walking, actually watching shows on the DVR and just relaxing and it was heavenly.

Loser.

Yesterday someone told me that they thought I lost weight. And it was sort of awesome. It's always a pleasant surprise when hard work pays off. In this case my hard work has been walking several days a walk to train for the half marathon I'm walking in in a month and getting out of bed an hour early almost every day to do some Wii Fit before I go to work.

Yes it is nuts, Yes I am tired, Yes I feel better after doing it and Yes I am finally motivated. So motivated in fact that I am putting it out here on the blog for all to see and all to keep me in check. I'm not even kidding, I won't mind if someone says "so hey how was that Wii work out this morning?" because I want to be able to answer and say I did it. Not only that, Matt just bought me EA Active and I can't wait to try it out this weekend.

Seriously who am I? Excited to work out. Well I'd say it's a good thing. It's a good thing I'm trying to be a loser, a good thing I'm motivated, good thing I have a goal and it's a good thing I've put it out there.

So internet, I am determined to be a loser and a loser I will be. Hurrah!

One hot weekend.

Oh so remember when I said I had no plans this weekend? Yeah well I was sort of right. It was still sort of a doozy.

Friday: After a loooong day at work (only eight people in the office can make it drag on) I headed on over to Matt's mom's house in La Canada. Yes the same La Canada that is being encompassed by flames and massive smoke and wo. It was sort of crazy. We had some dinner, drank lots of wine, watched Yes Man (which I sort of really liked), caught some fire updates on the news and eventually some friends made their way over. Eventually we all took off and made our way to a veiwpoint where we could see all of the fires and everything, it was breathtaking. I only got one decent picture but man I can't even begin to describe all the flames and the view of the city and the pops we heard when power lines caught fire.

Basically it was a crazy night of inhaling fumes and watching the mountain burn. It was a little nuts.

Saturday: Slept in a bit (hark! I love sleeping in), then before we knew it we were off to check out some potential wedding venues. It was sort of exciting. I even think we found a place we both liked so that's sort of awesome. Afterwards we did some errand running, tried not to melt and relaxing for a bit before heading back over to Matt's mom's house. Oh yeah and this was what I saw going over there:

Seriously, so crazy. We had dinner, watched after the house (it's not in immediate danger but we were there just in case). Afterwards we came home and played some Wii! Seriously we're Wii addicts, it's sort of awesome. So yeah we played some, had some wine, watched some TV and enjoyed the evening. Twas loverly.

Sunday: Slept in again (Hark to the second!) then did some errand running for my cousin's bridal shower with my mom, that I'm hosting next weekend, yes NEXT weekend, ah! (ohmygoshwhatdidIgetmyselfintoandwhydidIwaitsolatetoplanit?!). After shopping and gaping at the smoke still I came home to relax a bit, do some cleaning and some organizing and yeah, awesomeness. The only other thing I really did was go to my aunt and uncle's house for my uncle's birthday and then talk about the bridal shower (thank goodness for crafty aunts!). Then Matt and I spent the rest of the night hanging out and mentally prepping me for my week free of cheese, haha.

Oh hello there friends and happy summer, yay it's officially here (even if the weather doesn't totally agree)! So yes another weekend come and gone and man was it a good one, here we go:

Thursday: After work I headed over to the west side for some margaritas and Mexican food with Lacey. It was so great to finally meet her since I've been reading her blog forever it feels like. We had a good time chatting it up and having some tasty food. Twas a lovely evening.

Friday: Had a fun day at work with an afternoon BBQ on a lovely day. After work I headed to the movies with Megan to see The Proposal. It was such a cute movie! I loved it (and of course reviewed it)! Once the movie was over I came home to an uneventful evening because a headache took over so I was incredibly lame and went right to bed, damn you headaches!

Saturday: Woke up to crappy weather, went walking with my mom and sister then came home quickly before running some errands. Afterwards Matt, my sister and I headed to our friends house despite the craptasticly cloudy weather. Nonetheless the BBQ was still a ton of fun, lots of food and alcohol and we played an intense game of spoons. Seriously, it was amazing.

After BBQ #1 we headed over to Matt's brother's girlfriend, Michaela's parent's house to celebrate Michaela's birthday. It was a pretty good time, as usual. We had tons of food, watched some NASCAR, danced a bit, sang a bit, had some cake, basically an all around great time.

Sunday: Got another earlyish start and met my family for brunch at Roscoe's (it was delicious, as always). After breakfast my dad opened his Father's Day presents and then I was on my way to productivity before we had to leave. My parents eventually came to pick me up later so we could go to the Dodger game! My dad, mom, little brother and I went to Anaheim to see the Dodgers play the Angels and oh what a great way to spend the day. The Dodgers were victorious, Kobe was in attendance and it was just awesome to be the away team but not be alone, haha.


All in all another great weekend and a fabulous way to start the summer. How did you spend your summerful weekend? Anything awesome?
