Minnie Muse, Minnie Muse!

So despite still being sickish (still, I know right? This is getting ridiculous) I moseyed on over to Hollywood Tuesday night for a fabulous little shindig that I just have to blog about (I mean I'm a blogger, that's what I do).

I was invited as media (doesn't that sound fancy?? also I'm becoming a fan of the parenthesis as if you couldn't tell) to the Minnie Muse launch event at the Forever 21 store at Hollywood and Highland and I was more than excited to go.

I invited my friend Cameron to come with me because she is one of the biggest Disney fans that I know and she's new to LA so I figured what better way to celebrate than with an event that was Disneycentric?

me and Cameron with one of
the Minnie displays.

The whole purpose of the event was to promote a new line of Minnie Mouse inspired clothing coming to Forever 21 stores this week and I gotta say, I'm sold. All of the clothes (okay most) were so darn cute and I definitely had to buy my own Minnie inspired cardigan. Besides the adorable clothing the party itself was just so cute. There were models wearing the Minnie clothes, freaking fantastic desserts, a candy bar, a soda bar, random reality star celebs (Stephanie Pratt, Miss J, Vanessa Simmons, some Disney girls, and a real housewife), good music and just an all around good time.

And back to that reality star bit, MISS J was there. As in the best person on Top Model (sorry Tyra, I love you and your crazies but Miss J has my ANTM heart) J. Alexander was moseying around the VIP area and did try to make his way to the main floor but was immediately swamped with fans (I mean of course, he's awesome!). But I was admittedly most excited to see him and his awesomeness there, I just wanted him to walk a fake runway.

Miss J and Vanessa Simmons
I sort of heart them both.

Anyhoo here are some more iphonearific (I may coin that) pics from the evening:

the oh so delicious cake balls from

some of the adorable Minnie clothes.

the window display, adorable.

As media I was fortunate enough to receive a lovely gift bag and ohmygod I'm in love. On top of the Minnie cardigan I bought, the gift bag had three freaking adorable shirts and two Minnie notebooks and seriously I'm in love.

"modeling" my new cardigan and Minnie ears,
courtesy of the fabulous Tara (the hostess of the evening).

the three shirts from my gift bag,
LOVE THEM.

All in all it was a loverly night all around and I'm so glad my sickness didn't get the best of me.

To get in on the Minnie Muse action visit Forever 21's site.

happy thursday!

*Redlight PR invited me to this event and I wasn't compensated in any way and wasn't asked to blog about this but clearly I was all over going because hellooo it's awesome and schnazzy and I wanted to write about it and the gift bag was just a lovely thank you, okay FTC? we're friends right?*

The Makeup dilemma.

Yes I've had a shoe dilemma and a hair dilemma and you guys have been awesome so help a girl out with her latest "crisis" please.

As I've mentioned a few times on the blog here, I'm not much of a makeup person. And whenever I do throw on some eye shadow or lipstick my friends and Matt notice because hello! It's a change. And I like a change every now and then.

And I sort of want a change for my wedding. But that's where the issue comes in. I want someone to do my makeup for me on my wedding day, but I don't want it to overtake my face. I don't want the makeup to wear me, I want to wear makeup and still look like myself.

Basically I don't want to look like this:

But rather this:

or this:

Not a problem right? Wrong.

I mean I could do my makeup myself or enlist the help of a friend for cheap but I don't want to add any more duties to my friends or put that sort of pressure on them to make me look kick ass. But at the same time every makeup artist that has responded to me so far has been no less than $200 for a trial run and day of makeup.

Um. Say what!?

$200 for my makeup? Makeup that I guarantee will be easier to apply than most girls because I'll probably nix a lot of froofy ideas and want to go pretty plain Jane with a bit of flair. I just can't stomach that price, it seems ridiculous to me.

So what should I do?

Go to a counter demonstration and have professionals how to do my makeup myself? Keep looking and hope there's someone out there that's more afordable? Try and bargain with the ones that have already responded? Enlist the help of my makeup savvy friends? Wear a paper bag over my head? (I kid on that last one)

So freaders, what would you do in my situation? Or if you got married, what did you do?

I thank you all already for being awesome and helping me through my oh-so-pertinent dilemmas, haha.

happy thursday!

Disney goes designer.

Last Thursday instead of watching the Lakers beat the Celtics I was at Revolve on Melrose helping celebrate a speciality line of Toy Story 3 inspired clothing. Thanks to Tara (who now works at Disney) I was invited to the special event full of all sorts of Toy Story clothing and delicious food and lots of candy and some random celebs and kiddie funness all around.

And because bullet points are awesome, here are some highlights of the evening:
  • Fried mac and cheese. That should say it all.

  • Agyness Deyn is absolutely gorgeous in real life.

  • I really want a Woody shirt, but alas I cannot afford one.

  • Cheryl Burke is super tiny, but was very cute taking pics with the merch.

  • Disney knows how to throw a party (open bar and free food and great music all around).

  • I met MK from Popbytes and I was a bit nervous and afraid that the wine was making me ramble too much but really he was awesome and I was so glad to meet him.

  • Taking a picture in a big chair is all sorts of silly and awesome.

    me, Maya, Esther and Tara.
All in all it was a great time all around and it was fun to mingle and hang out with some new people and woo all around. Oh and check out Tara's recap of the night too.

So have you seen Toy Story 3 yet?? I haven't and it's killing me! I can't wait!

Fa la la la Hollywood.

Another Tuesday, another Hollywood post so here we go.
  • Starting off this week's cuteness we have Twilight alum, Cam Cigandet, with baby Everleigh. Seriously she is so adorable and I love her little scrunched up face.

    presh!

  • Next up in bebe cuteness we have little Vivienne Jolie-Pitt. I almost wasn't going to post this picture but ohmygoodnesstheleatherjacket. And seriously she is a little Shiloh, it's just precious.

    pouty face? check!

  • And because there is just too much cuteness today I had to share one of my favorite SVU detectives having some mommy and me time on set with her oh so adorable look alike son, August.

    so cute!

  • Also in bebe news, looks like Isla Fisher and Sasha Baron Cohen are going to be parents again, congrats to the super cute family!...Also expecting? Jessica Capshaw aka Dr. Robbins on Grey's, congrats!...in other happy news, Christina Applegate is engaged!...in not so happy, rather splitsville news, Mel Gibson and baby mama Oxana are dunzo and so is Larry King and his 8th wife (8th!!)...Charlie Sheen shaved his head, is he having a Britney breakdown? Oh goodness...maybe Vivica Fox can help him out with a wig...and Rihanna is supporting my LA Dodgers which is awesome since her boyfriend is one our best players, woo Go Blue!

  • In Twilight news...
Fact. Kellan Lutz looks good without a shirt on. Example:

    hawtness.

  • In TV news...
GLEE. I know some people don't get the hype while others are just as into this show as I am. But umm I LOVE musicals, so naturally I am a fan of this show. Anyhoozits, it's finally back and I loved last week's Spring premiere. I think I screamed when Idina came on screen because I have a huge girl crush on her (primarily because she's Elphaba and I LOVE Wicked). And my goodness there was so much drama in the premiere it was nuts! Also, tonight. Madonna episode. Um say what? According to Trent it's phenomenal and I cannot wait.

    HEART THEM.
also, Taye, you're more than welcome to guest star
on the show as well okay? Thanks.

Project Runway. I haven't really loved any designers this season except Anthony and even he didn't have the best clothes, just the best personality. I have a feeling Emilio is going to take it in Bryant Park but I wouldn't mind if Seth Aaron won instead, he's nicer, haha. Also in PR news, one of my faves Carol Hannah revealed her new bridal collection and I'm sort of a fan. If anything just happy for her, woo!

Top Model. I would be quite alright if Alasia and Angelea went home. They have such ugly personalities it seriously annoys me. Also, Jessica, still a fave. And um Tyra, stop trying to make the jump suit work, stop it! For the full gif-filled recap, check out Four Four as always.

Desperate Housewives. Check out my review on Sunday's dramaful episode.

  • In music news...
Hanson has a new song/video out and it's so catchy and cute and I sort of like it. Check out "Thinkin 'Bout Something." (also, I had no idea they've released so many CDs, wow).

  • Lastly in today's WTF news we have a woman who claims that a Wii accident made her a nympho. Um. What? Apparently any vibration gets her going now because of the Wii, haha, ridiculous.

Anything I missed? Let me know!

happy tuesday!

Birthday "wishlist" it to me.

My birthday is nine days away. Nine! And I swear you wouldn't even know it because I've barely talked about my birthday this year. I mean it doesn't even really seem like it's happening. I mean last years' birthday was just so epic (read awesome) and so planned out I don't know that I'll ever get near that awesomeness again. Nonetheless my birthday is coming up and plans are sort of being made and so of course I have a wishlist. So here we go:

These shoes I mentioned in yesterday's post.

seriously they're adorable (and I'm a size 10).
I just can't spend $100 on shoes for myself, I just can't.
Well not yet at least.

Euros, I mean we're headed to Italy
in a couple months and we have to pay somehow.

Water for Elephants.

I really liked this book and I wouldn't
mind owning it and reading it again.

The Elsa Peretti Letter "K" pendant from Tiffany's

yes this is the 3rd year I've asked for it
but I'm bound to get it eventually...
right?

Scrabble.

I love this game, and don't own
it. Something is wrong here.

A wine-of-the-month club membership.

Seriously how cool would that be?

And that is this year's birthday list. Can't really think of anything else to add besides having someone pay for our hotels in Italy or find us a DJ or you know, pay for the whole wedding because that would be amazing? That or going to a pub with Rob Pattinson and Sam Worthington and Simon Baker because that would just be a plethora of accents and hawtness and awesomeness, haha.

Anyhoozits, YAY to my almost birthday!

happy friday!

A Shoe Mission.

Houston, we have a problem.

My wedding dress is supposed to come in sometime this month and I still don't have shoes. This is a problem. Especially since you're supposed to have your shoes when you try your dress on so they can alter accordingly. Ensue minor minor panic.

I actually bought a pair of shoes that Jess recommended and were super cute and they arrived and I still liked them, but I didn't love them. And they had no support on the bottom and I was slipping and sliding around the apartment, not how I want to spend my wedding, slipping and sliding.

I also realized that I don't want flats, I want sandals. Preferably I want sandals that look something like two pairs I already own:

or

See? Cute, simple, strappy and so me.

Now the problem is that I'm a size 10 and I want sandals in navy blue. Ummm why does no one make cute navy blue sandals that aren't $300??? I may also sway and wear ivory colored sandals instead but that have to be super cute. Sort of like these.

So I'm stuck. And I need your shoevice. So please help.

Thankyouheartyoubigtimewoo!

Oh it's Oscar time!

How are the Academy Awards over already? Seriously, it's just so sad. And man this recap would have been a lot easier and coherent if I had my computer out during the show, but alas I was too busy drinking belinis and clapping and yelling at the TV and hanging out with some friends that were over and eating candy and just having a good time all around. So this year my recap is pretty much my thoughts about the night in general and in no particular order:
  • I have no idea what Keanu was doing there and why he was asked to present but I did not object and I most definitely screamed like a school girl when he was on screen. But seriously can someone please make him shave!?!?!

at least he put a suit on, haha.

  • And ohmygod a man who was totally okay to be there and had good reason and I just happened to turn on E! as he was getting interviewed...SAM WORTHINGTON! Oh yes his Aussie made me swoon and he definitely almost dropped an F bomb and I laughed and then I swooned some more and luckily my friend Courtney was here to swoon with me as well and Matt was just sadly outnumbered, but oh yes back to the point, HELLO SAM!

Oh he is so dapper and handsome.

  • And some of my favorite ladies on the red carpet:

can I please have this dress?!?!
    I LOVE IT.

aw what a cute siblings and I adore
    Maggie's print dress.

love this color and shape and just adore.

Paula and Robin are such a cute couple, and man
that baby is going to be adorable.

    another fabulous dress, nicely done
    Elizabeth Banks, nicely done.

  • And for the "can I please look this hot at your age" winners I picked Meryl and Sigourney because man I loved their dresses, they were just appropiate for them:

can I please have this dress? No really
    I love it.

Meryl is just the epitome of classy.

  • And some of the ladies who's dresses and looks I wasn't too much of a fan of and don't really feel like putting their pictures up: Miley Cyrus (stop slouching woman!) and her mom (step away from the spray tan!), Zoe Saldana (umm a little too floofy for me, not a fan), Vera Farmiga (one. I'm pretty sure she was drunk before the show even began and two. I didn't like the fan look, loved the color though) and as much as it pains me to say it, Diane Kruger (not a fan at all, definitely prefer her second dress better well that and it didn't hurt that Joshua Jackson showed up with her at the end of the night).

    Josh where were you earlier?!
And I do sort of love the gray suit, tre fun.

  • NPH I heart you big time, for eva and eva, especially because the opening number had a Harold and Kumar mention.

  • I'm pretty sure there hasn't a been a year that the Academy hasn't snubbed someone big in the In Memorium section and every year they argue that there just isn't enough time. But there's enough time for some weird ass interpretative dance and a tribute to horror films (oh and by the way New Moon is NOT a horror film)

  • The whole "Kanye" moment was just so petty and I couldn't understand a freaking word that woman was saying anyways. I just think they both took away from what looks like a really poignant movie. So boo to two adults that couldn't work something out. Don't know what I'm talking about? Here's the scoop.

  • Ohmygosh the Ben Stiller Avatar moment was way funnier than I thought it was going to be and I definitely had a good laugh.

  • I'm putting it out there, Mo'nique bugs me. Her speech, her interviews, she just has this fake attitude. Like yeah I know you did a kick ass job in Precious and you're not just a Phat Girl but stop acting so ridiculous it's driving me nuts!

  • The Dude wins it. Loved his speech and I may or may not have gotten all teary at the dedication to his parents and man, just so cute.

    El Duderino.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHH SANDY!!!!! Yes she may have had it in the bag but sometimes you just don't know and I thought Gaby could have possibly won it. So yeah I screamed a bit and possibly even got all teary during her fabulous speech (oh and check out her Razzie speech as well, seriously I didn't think she could get more awesome) and was basically all sorts of happy for her!

    HEART HER!
(as if that wasn't obvious already)

  • And props to Kathryn Bigelow and The Hurt Locker. Although I probably would have voted for Up in the Air, I definitely think The Hurt Locker deserved the win and it was just so cute seeing how excited to whole cast and crew was to win it.

Whew that was exhausting, if you made it through that then I hope you enjoyed. Anything big I forgot to mention? All in all I thought it was a pretty entertaining (albeit long) show and Steve and Alec did a pretty good job. I also loved the intros for the best actor and actress nominees

happy tuesday!

Some letter writing.

Dear EA Active,

Thanks so much for kicking my ass the past two mornings. No really, my thighs may not be functioning properly but I appreciate the good workout and it's definitely helping project: loser move forward. So yeah, keep doing what you're doing and although I may yell obscenities at you I still truly heart you.

Sincerely,
Future Katelin's slimmer body

Dear Sam Worthington,

I'm quite excited to see you present at the Oscar's this weekend! I mean really, your accent makes me swoon like wo. And um you're not too shabby looking. Like at all. And I may or may not have developed a crush on you lately (let's lean towards may). Anyhoozits, good luck and please don't wear something ridiculous or have overly corny dialogue.

Sincerely,
One of your newest acquired fans that would love to meet you and wouldn't drool

Dear Ann Taylor Loft,

I had never heard of you until a couple of months ago and now I find myself swooning over dresses I have no reason to own. Seriously I wish I had to dress up more often because Ann's outfits are so darn cute.

So please if you read this, just give me some clothes and I'll find a reason to dress up.

Love,
An aspiring adult

Dear wedding,

I love you. But I have to admit, I'm slightly terrified of you as well. I feel like we have so much done already and stuff is getting checked off the list but at the same time there are so many details that run through my head every day I'm afraid I'm going to forget that it sometimes drives me a little nuts. But then again let's just say, more than anything I am so freaking excited to marry my best friend and have my friends and family there to celebrate that I can hardly wait to meet you no matter what I have to do to get there!

Love,
The future bride

Dear Summertime,

I'm ready for you. So please come and stay awhile. I need to work on my tan and wear some dresses on a regular basis because that's just all sorts of awesome. So hurry up and get here already!

Love,
Katelin

Dear Steve and Alec,

Hugh Jackman set the bar high last year so please don't screw up the Oscar's, I'm depending on you!

Love,
a movie loving lady

Who would you write a letter to today?

happy wednesday!

Weekendtini on the rocks.

Oh what a weekend, seriously it was ridiculous and awesome, I loved it. So here we go:

Friday: After a 5 o' clock celebration at work I headed off to meet Matt and his family for a birthday dinner for his brother Ryan. We went to this steakhouse in Glendale and man was it tasty. Seriously it was a little overwhelming but man was it amazing. After dinner we spent the night hanging out, drinking wine and having a good time all around.

Saturday: Holy rainfall. Seriously it was pouring all day it was a wee bit ridiculous. However I did get some productive stuff done which was awesome and once Matt left I watched 500 Days of Summer finally. Eventually I was on my way to Tara's for her Girls Night Out party.

Basically we had a fabulous night out including dinner, a limo ride, and all sorts of awesome for Tara and some of her friends. It was a great time getting to meet and hang out with some of Tara's friends that I had met before and some that I hadn't.

eating some delicious Kogi BBQ.

all the ladies outside the limo
having some fun.

me and Quynh in the limo

me with the fabulous hostess and our
oh-so-delicious belinis.

the bar at Bar Centro was quite awesome looking.

loved all of the decor.

All in all it was a great girly night with photo shoots, stripper poles, tasty drinks, a limo and a fabulous good time. Also, check out Tara's recap and video for more on the lovely night.

Sunday: Finally got to sleep in for a bit before heading out for some spending. Seriously? I've been shopping and spending a lot lately, I really need to cut it back. But ohmygod I got some cute stuff. I got a new dress shirt and a dress and some sandals and my first pair of non-walking tennis shoes in about six years, haha.

*the pillow is also a new purchase from Target
and man is it soft!

seriously heart these like wo!

The rest of the day was spent watching TV, walking at the Rose Bowl, watching Taken, relaxing some more, heading to Barney's for dessert with some friends, and more hanging out.

Basically it was a fabulous weekend.

And how was your weekend? Avoid the rain or snow or sleet?

happy monday!

Hollywood adorableness, more Twilight interviews and a sparkly dress.

The first Hollywood post of the year, do you think you can handle it?
  • Starting off this week's cuteness we have the oh so adorable Satyana Denisof, Alyson Hannigan's daughter. Seriously she is all sorts of preciousness and should basically be friends with Seraphina because they're both so adorable.

    aw preciousness!

  • Also in some new year cuteness we have Heidi Klum and her daughter Leni getting ready for some adorable ice skating. Seriously such a cute mommy and daughter duo.

    aw aren't they just adorable.

  • Also in bebeness, Matthew McConaughey and Camilla Alves had a new baby girl, Vida...Kourtney Kardashian showed off a new picture of baby Mason (that mildly freaks me out)...and Kendra Wilson shared a picture of baby Hank on her twitter and umm it's sort of cute and Kendra may or may not be growing on me.

  • Moving on from the bebes and onto some Hollywood happenings...the newest cast of Celebrity Apprentice has been revealed and although I never watch the show I'll be rooting for Curtis Stone, freaking love his show and his cooking...apparently Rihanna has a new man in her life and it's one of my favorite Dodgers, Matt Kemp, not bad Rihanna, not bad at all...Vince Vaughn got married over the weekend and I know there's gotta be a Wedding Crashers joke in there somewhere but I just can't think of it right now..Not like I need any more shows to watch, but one of my favorites, James Van Der Beek, is going to have a recurring role on Mercy, woo Dawson!...and lastly, although not her best look I am quite the fan of Nicole Richie's sparkly New Year's Eve dress, I would totally rock it.

    sooo sparkly.

  • And in Twilight news, I realized that I never shared my interviews with the Volturi and the director Chris Weitz, so here we go.

    interview with the Volturi.

    and chatting with Chris Weitz.

  • In movie news...
NINE. Yes I know I talked about it yesterday but I just have to say that Fergie's song "Be Italian" and Kate Hudson's number "Cinema Italiano" are so freaking catchy I can't stop listening to them.

  • And in TV news....
Brothers and Sisters. So of course Kitty is going to live and it was sort of cute that her and Robert renewed their views but um having her have had a past affair with Anderson Cooper (I'm assuming it was him since they called him the Silver Fox and that is his nickname) was rather random and funny. Also the whole Ryan thing was just annoying, gah he's just annoying in general. That and the whole episode just wrapped everything up too quickly, hopefully they'll go into more detail on next week's episode.

The Mentalist. So have I mentioned my recent obsession with this show??? Matt and I started watching some of it over the summer and then what's aired so far in season two and then Matt got season one for Christmas and we watched the whole thing. Whole thing people, the whole shabang of a fabulous season. And I officially have a new crush on Simon Baker, well newer because I did heart him in Something New and The Devil Wears Prada. But um if you're not watching this show you probably should, like wo.

    so zexy.

Desperate Housewives. Oh what a fun episode to come back to, and check my review over at BSC Reviews.

  • Lastly in today's WTF news, a woman in Ohio started throwing punches at McDonald's employees when they wouldn't serve her chicken mcnuggets. Apparently it's never smart to get between a drunk and her nuggets, haha.

And that's what I've got today, anything I've missed let me know!

happy tuesday!
