Busyish Relaxingish Awesomeness.

Oh what a wonderful weekend indeed, seriously it was a good combination of busy and lazy and I just loved it. So shall we break it down? Here we go!

Friday: After work my sister and Matt came and picked me up and we were on our way to see my favorite band, O.A.R. in concert!!! Seriously I love them and their music and just ah all around. Pretty much we got great spots at the Wiltern and just hung out and watched the great openener, A.L.O. (yes it was the night of acronym bands). The only major downer was at the very end of the opening act Matt got hit in the head with a camera. Yes, like an actual video camera filming the show on a big beam and everything came down and hit Matt directly on the head. I freaked out and went and got people to come look at his head and Matt tried to be all manly and say it didn't hurt, but it did. Luckily the rest of the show went on without any additional injury although Matt's head did hurt a bit.

love them.

way to smile through the pain Matt.

heyyyyy girrrrrl.

All in all it was a great show and I'm so glad O.A.R. came to LA and they are welcome back any time!

Saturday: Slept in a bit before going with my mom and my friend Katrina to try on my wedding dress!!! It wasn't actually a fitting since they suggest I don't do that until July but I really wanted to just see the dress and try it on and ohmygod you guys I'm still in love. My dress is so classy and elegant and ah! Love it. And the most amazing thing was that it was actually big (especially in the bust! so unheard of for me, haha). Pretty much the dress is great and my shoes look good with it and I cannot wait to put it on again and again!

After hanging out a bit with my mom and Katrina I came home and relaxed for a couple hours and caught up on the DVR before heading out with Matt to my aunt and uncle's house for a nice night together. My aunt and uncle treated Matt and I to dinner and a movie as a belated birthday gift and it was so fun! We had a pretty laid back dinner before heading to Gold Class to see Iron Man 2. The movie was pretty good, the atmosphere was awesome and it was just a good night all around. After the movie we hung for a bit, watched some Big Bang Theory and just had a good time. Pretty much a wonderful night.

Sunday: Slept in again (oh how I love sleep) and woke up realizing I had nothing to do. So with that I decided to watch some TV and then reinstall the Sims on my computer. Pretty much I knew it was a bad idea but I couldn't help it. I love the Sims. Whenever I start playing I play for hours, days at a time and ah, I get addicted (like that's a surprise...) So yeah I did that for a couple hours before I went walking with my mom at the Rose Bowl. After walking Matt and I headed over to my parent's house for dinner which was fun and then ultimately ended the night at home playing the Sims and watching TV and drinking wine, aka a win, haha.

So yes, it was a loverly busyish/relaxingish weekend and I lurved it.

And how was your weekend?

happy monday!

Fangirl freakout.

So although my Top Ten lists have sort of been halted, let me share with you the order of my musical loves.

1. Craig David. (duh).
2. O.A.R.

Let's just stop there because ohmygod I love O.A.R. I mean when Craig and I were on a break (ie when he didn't come to the US for seven years!) O.A.R. became my favorites. So basically let's just say they're in a tie with Craig. Anyways, I heart them. Big time. I've seen them six different times in four different states and I've loved each and every time. Although last year's concert may have been the best because it was at Club Nokia and I got to meet Marc, the lead singer, after the show, so yeah that was nice.

So when I got an email yesterday telling me that O.A.R. had tacked on an LA show to their summer tour (that was originally East Coast/Midwest only) next Friday at the Wiltern, I bought my tickets in less than five minutes and then proceeded to tweet this:

Needless to say I freaked out, texted my sister and Matt and wrangled them into coming with me and got all sorts of giddy. But it didn't stop there. I then decided that I should start prepping and listen to O.A.R. all day and then tweeted this:

And a couple hours later when I got back from lunch I was surprised to see this in my twitter feed:

UM SAY WHAT!? O.A.R. responded to me! And they thanked me. And I may have fangirl freaked out a bit because um that's just awesome. And yes it's just twitter but I know that Ali and Ben will at least appreciate this twitter response, right? right?

So pretty much that made my day and I cannot wait to see them in concert next Friday (want to come too? Buy tickets here!) and it will truly feel like summer and ah! Heartface!!

Also, if you don't know their music. You should. Like stat. Check out their site here. Also, you should probably know "Hey Girl" and "Crazy Game of Poker" and "Love and Memories" because they're all sorts of amazing. Okay? Thanks.

happy wednesday!

'09 was quite awesome.

So I know that 2009 was not the best year for a lot of people, but for me it was the complete opposite, 2009 was probably one of the best years of my entire life and although I've never done it before, it just wouldn't be right if I didn't look back and highlight some of the awesome that was this past year.

January: Started off the new year with a Wii...got to go to an awesome O.A.R. concert and even met the lead singer Mark, so awesome...then went to a release party for Afro Samurai where I got to meet some guys from Greek (ummmawesome) and Christina Milian among others, haha.

me and Kimmy with the guys of Greek.

February: Celebrated Valentine's Day with Matt by having some delicious fondue...and later in the month I got to attend a lovely Boca sponsored spa event and meet some of my favorite bloggers.

Matt with our Valentine's fondue.

March: Brand About Town contacted me and I got to host an incredibly awesome and super fun DS party with some of my favorite bloggers and non-bloggers...I made some tasty ham and cheese turnovers which was awesome...and I walked in a half marathon and lived to share it.

all of the ladies at my DS party, so fun.

April aka best month of my life: First I was the featured blogger over at 20 something bloggers which was all sorts of amazing... then went to Palm Desert with Matt's family for Easter which was quite lovely....then OHMYFREAKINGOSH I met Craig David and yes that still deserves caps lock because wo that really happened...and to top off the celebness I met Joshua Jackson a week later, le swoon...oh and then you know, I GOT ENGAGED and turned 25 all in one wonderous weekend making April all around fantabulous.

aw the engaged us!

May: Started off the month go karting for Matt's 25 birthday....a couple days later my blog was featured on Blogger which was all sorts of exciting...even more exciting is that my blog turned two! Two years I've been blogging already, crazy pants...well even more exciting than that was Matt and I celebrating our third anniversary which was quite adorable and fun...and ultimately I ended the month in North Carolina for a girls weekend with my college friends.

the go-kart crew, so fun.

June: I started my review blog that although I don't tend to as much I still love...then was one of the best Vegas trips of my life with 20ish fabulous bloggers...and enjoyed one of my favorite activities of bowling with some friends.

rawr, one of my fave Vegas pics.

July: Had a great 4th of July weekend with lots of friends and family...I shared a very au natural picture of myself which became one of my most honest posts...I also posted some of my wedding don'ts which gave me my first negative comments aka I've officially made it as a blogger, haha...later in the month I got to attend my second BlogHer which was just as fun as the first year and I met even more bloggers and had a great time all around...I also joined 2009 and got a smart phone, more specifically an Iphone, woo!

my BlogHer ladies.

August: Started off my wedding season with some friends' wedding in New Mexico which was fun...then headed to Northern California for my family's annual Swiss picnic which was full of food and fun and lots of good times...had another friends' wedding that Matt was in and I got some new shoes for the occassion...and then for some ridiculous reason I decided to omit cheese from my diet for a week and I don't think I'll ever do that again, haha.

the SoCal kids at the Swiss.

September: I threw my first bridal shower for my cousin...took a mini trip to San Diego with Matt to visit some of our friends and have one of the best omlettes ever...booked our first wedding venue...and ended out the month meeting 140 of Matt's closest family members, haha.

me with Matt's family at the reunion.

October: Went to Ohio for my friend Virginia's wedding and couldn't have pictured a better weekend...a week later I was the maid of honor in my cousin's wedding which was quite the all day experience but fun nonetheless...I also made baked mac and cheese which was almost as good as it looked in the pictures...then Matt surprised me and took me to Disneyland which was so so very fun...and rounded out the month carving pumpkins and watching Hocus Pocus with Matt and our neighbors then dressing up like pirates for Halloween, arrrrgh.

the eight great lookig fabulous.

November: Not only did I get to meet Ali but I also got to meet James Van Der Beek along with other Dawson's Creek alums and it was amazing and my inner highschooler was squeeeeing....however my DC encounter was outdone only days later when I got to INTERVIEW THE ENTIRE CAST OF NEW MOON, oh yes that still deserves caps because seriously how did that happen and ohmygod I love talking about it still, haha...after coming down from my New Moon high I went to a private Colbie Caillat concert...and rounding out the month was a lovely meshed Thanksgiving with mine and Matt's family.

oh Rob, your door is awesome, haha.

December: Well the best news to come out of this month was that Matt and I got a new wedding venue and we love it...I hosted a wine party with some lovely bloggers and I can't wait to do it again...I also got a new coat that I love...but not only did I get a new coat but I got my wedding dress as well right after a day of cupcakes...then Matt and I hosted our second annual tacky Christmas party which was quite the success...and then it was Christmas and it was all sorts of loverly.

Christmas by us.

So yeah looking back on it all 2009 was one kick ass year. And I know I'm leaving some stuff out but man this post is long enough as it is, haha. But really 2009 I loved you so much and I hope 2010 is just as fabulous if not better :)

happy wednesday!

"My friends say I'm crazy and I agree..."

Name that tune! Anyone? Anyone? I'll give you a hint, it's from my most favoritest band, O.A.R. Ah! Anyhoo let's get to the weekend shall we? Stupid Charter has left me internetless at home so alas the last minute weekend post it is. And go!

Friday: Friday oh Friday. Anyone that was following my tweets saw that my boss came through and got me free tickets to see O.A.R. and I was basically listening to them all day prepping for the big show. After work I headed home, grabbed Matt and we were off to Club Nokia down in the new L.A. Live area which was pretty sweet. Well we go to the pick up office and I tell them my name and then the lady hands back two tickets and two stickers. So we go to another guy who puts our wrist bands on with the big letters of VIP on them (holla)! And I asked what the sticker was for and no one knew. Eventually we get inside (so nice in there) and ask a security guard what the sticker is for and they're like "oh it's too go backstage after the show." I'm pretty sure my jaw hit the ground. Anyhoo after all of that Matt and I went up to the VIP area grabbed some dinner (sweet lord Kobe beef burgers are fantastic) and drinks and watched some of the opener who I also love, Eric Hutchinson, check. him. out.
Eric rockin out on stage

Matt and I enjoyed VIP status, haha

Eventually the show started and O.A.R. was awesome. Seriously I don't think they can put on a bad show. I even realized that I have now seen them six times in four different states, yeah I'd call myself a fan, haha. They even did this great rendition of "Hey Girl" which is my all time fave of theirs and I was pretty much in heaven. Eric Hutchinson even came out and sang with O.A.R. and it was sooooo cool. All in all I danced and sang my little heart out and it was amazing.
Marc rockin out

After the show was over Matt and I bolted to the back stage door where we were promptly rerouted to go upstairs to the VIP area and wait there. Well we got there, hanged out a bit, saw tons of random people that all seemed to know each other and waited for the band to make their way there. We waited....and waited....and eventually they all trickled in. I tried so hard to talk to Benji the bass player but he just wasn't interested, which was sort of lame. I got pretty disheartened and told Matt we could go and right as we are leaving, who walks in? Oh, oh just Marc, the lead singer. So after he chats with some other fans I tapped his shoulder and said hi and that we were big fans and if I could get a picture with him. He was so so nice and was like "of course" and his wife even offered to take the pic so Matt could get in it too. Basically Marc was super nice and really appreciative of the fans which I loved and made the night a whole lot better...

All in all it was an amazing night and good gracious I love O.A.R. :)

Saturday: After the awesomeness that was Friday night I spent Saturday working out on the Wii Fit and playing Cinderella. I cleaned pretty much all afternoon while Matt was at work and I'm pretty sure I got high on Scruby Bleach, haha. But hey the place does sparkle. After cleaning away all day I watched Catch Me If You Can, which I love. It was on TV and I was watching it then I realized I owned it so I might as well just watch the DVD, which I did. And oh Leo I love you. And did you know Amy Adams, Ellen Pompeo, Jen Garner and Elizabeth Banks are all in it?? I totally forgot!

Anyhoo once Matt got home we headed to dinner at Cheesecake Factory which was so good. My food was okay, but the white truffle raspberry cheesecake was freaking amazing, I highly recommend it. After dinner we just headed home to a night in with wine and catching up on the DVR, twas loverly.

Sunday: Slept in a bit, headed to a matinee showing of Doubt with my mom then off to the Rose Bowl for our six mile walk. Oh, oh but before I forget...before the movie I went to Starbucks and this guy walks in and I stared a bit because I swore I knew him. Alas I did know actually know him rather I recognized him. At first I thought it was from ER and I was set on that. But when I was walking and talking about him again I realized it wasn't from ER that I recognize him the most, it was Grey's Anatomy, it was Bailey's husband! Haha, so of course I Imdbed him today and his name is Cress Williams and aha! he was on ER too! So I was right! Anyhoo, I was excited to have my first two celeb run ins of '09 within 2 days of each other, haha. So yeah, after my run in, the movie and walking I went to my parents where Matt met me and we had dinner with the crazy fam. Once dinner was over we all played a game of ImagineIff, seriously the game is ridiculous but highly entertaining.

After dinner Matt and I headed home to relax, called Charter and find out why we have no internet, relaxed and Wiied it up before bed.

Seriously, my kind of weekend.

And how was your weekend?

happy monday!

Three words...

O.A.R. is amazing!!!

I really don't know what else to write besides that. I could go into a whole concert review, but really, where is the fun in that? However I will say that that concert was absolutely fantastic. I knew every song they performed (with the exception of one/two new ones). I basically sang as loud as I could and danced like a crazy person, it was great.
And I must say, I knew from the very beginning of the concert that it would be awesome, they started out with "Hey Girl", one of my top three O.A.R. songs, ah, amazing. Haha.

Man I really intended on a much better recap of such a great night, but I think I am just so exhausted and my brain is fried that I can't think of anything that creative to say really. However, another amazing thing about last night, it was like a flash back to college. Drunk college age kids everywhere singing and dancing without any hesitation, yes it was just like college.

Ah. I love O.A.R....Okay real attempt at the concert:
They played a nice mix of new and old songs, and did a lot of new renditions of songs from the latest live CD (and I have heard them all so I could sing along even if it was a "remix", haha). They basically played music non stop, which small intermissions of talking to the crowd, but basically sang and played their Ohioan hearts out, it was awesome. And they played basically all of my favorites, "Anyway", "Lay Down", "Love and Memories", and ended with a lovely rendition of "Crazy Game of Poker." Okay enough of my rambling, time to get to work.

Lovely summer concert....Lovely O.A.R......

I can't wait...

for Thursday night, when I get to see O.A.R. in concert at the Wiltern!

Ah! I can barely contain my excitement. I love them. I have seen them in concert three times before, however I feel like this show has to be the best. The first time I saw them I was just getting into them, so I knew like four songs and that was it. And on top of that they were one of four performers on stage that night, so they didn't get to do a whole set. The second time I saw them they performed at UPenn, now that was fun. I went with a friend of mine who doesn't listen to them, but went with me anyways. It was a fun concert, don't get me wrong, but their newest CD had come out recently and they were basically playing songs from that (and I hadn't heard that CD yet!ah!). So it was a good concert, but not great. And the last time I saw them was when they opened for Dave Matthews Band last summer in Arizona. Now I love Dave, but I love O.A.R. more, so I was so excited for them. However, when trying to get into the concert, one of the guys that I was with couldn't get in because his ticket was having problems. So I pretty much missed all of O.A.R. and could faintly hear them over the crazy crown of people at Cricket Pavilion. I got in just in time to hear them play "Love and Memories" and another song and then they were done.

So needless to say, I am ridiculously pumped for the concert this Thursday for many reasons. One reason being that I have basically all their songs (well I think I do, if not at least 94% of them) and know pretty much all of them too. And if I don't know the words I can at least pretend like I know the beat, so that will work. Second reason, I have never been to the Wiltern but I hear it's great and a small venue and I love small venues and I love standing room only. Third reason, my boyfriend is coming back home just to go to this concert with me, haha. He's an O.A.R. fan too(he was actually a fan before I was), but just not as big of a fan as I am, haha. Anyhoo, I just wanted to share my excitement/love for O.A.R! Woo!
