Oh goodness, the weekend and a giveaway! *closed*

Oh what a weekend and a fun one at that, so with no delay a recap is on its way (why I rhymed I have no idea? I blame exhaustion):

Friday: Matt and I were both so exhausted from a long week that we had a pretty low key night. Went shopping for our Christmas sweaters and grabbed a quick bite to eat before coming home to decorate our little abode. Pretty much loveliness.

Saturday: Slept in for a wee bit before running all sorts of morning errands and getting my hair cut, woo (seriously I hadn't had a hair cut since April, ridiculous). Then I spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready for my Wrapped in Goodness Party!

And what is a Wrapped in Goodness party? Pretty much Lean Pockets provided me with all sorts of goodies to have some friends over and enjoy some of their new culinary creations (um, yum!). So I went to town and was so excited to use some of my new serving ware and Christmas stuff and set it all up for a fun little girl's night in.

oh how I love to host!

can you spot the Lean Pockets in my freezer?
haha, this is just ridiculous.

all five tasty flavors ready for us to try:
Chipotle Chicken, Chipotle Bacon Dijon,
Spinach Artichoke Chicken, Garlic Chicken White Pizza (my fave!)
and Grilled Chicken, Mushroom and Spinach.

some snuggies for the ladies.

One the girls got here we spent most of the night just hanging out, listening to Christmas music, watching Extreme Christmas Lights on mute and occasionally answering some hilarious questions provided by Lean Pockets. It was just the kind of night I needed since I've been in a weird friend funk lately and hanging with the girls just lovely.

Ev'Yan, Tara and my sister showing
off their snuggies.

mmmmm, tasty!

my sister already finished hers
and was enjoying some belini deliciousness.

All in all it was quite the fun night. We tried almost all of the Lean Pockets, enjoyed lots of belinis and cookies, and definitely had our mouths agape at the Christmas lights some people put on display (seriously, insanity!). And just yes, my kind of girls' night in indeed. Thank you ladies for a lovely evening.

not that you can tell, but that's Matt
back there showing off a snuggie of his own.

Also, check out other Wrapped in Goodness party pics and get some Lean news on their Facebook page, so check it out, and even like it you'd like (that sounds redundant but I figured I'd keep it).

Sunday: Oh Sunday, I slept in until 11, cleaned up the apartment a bit, caught up on some TV watching. Finally did some Xmas shopping with Matt for a bit before coming home and alternating between napping and movie watching the rest of the day. Basically my kind of way to end the weekend.

And now to the giveaway! Hurrah!

Congrats to Kateastrophe!
Her Lean Pockets creation would be:
My lean pocket would SO not be lean. It would be filled with Brie and ham and bechemel sauce. So it would be more like a fat pocket? Hmmm sing THAT with the jingle! "Faaat Pockets!"

Big seller, I tell ya!

I would so buy it :)

Thanks to everyone that entered!

Lean Pockets has so graciously offered me the chance to offer one of my readers a YEAR SUPPLY of Lean Pockets! Seriously, a year's worth? That's a lot of Lean going on!

To enter tell me if you made your own culinary creation lean pocket, what would be in it?

For an extra entry, tweet about the giveaway and include my handle, @katelin, and the official @Lean_Pockets and leave in a separate comment.

and if you need a bit.ly of the giveaway:

Giveaway ends next Wednesday, December 15th 4pm PST and I'll be picking a winner using randomizer, so everyone's got a chance!

Good luck and lean away!

happy monday!

*Lean Pockets provided me with the snuggies, coupons for free Lean Pockets to serve at my party as well as giveaway. They also gave me some schnazzy Visa gift cards to do some shopping and as a thank you. And all opinions of Lean Pockets are all my own because let's be honest I sort of love them anyways. Basically they rock my socks off.*

On Wednesdays we wear PINK.

I thought this title was only appropriate because well it's Wednesday, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Mean Girls is a pretty freaking fabulous movie. And not only do we wear PINK on Wednesdays we occasionally give stuff away and talk about stuff that matters (and somehow we = me, but you get the point).

Anyhoo, a couple of weeks ago Hanes emailed me asking me to blog about their efforts with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and pshaw of course I said I would, so here's what Hanes is doing this month:

Hanes has recently launched and online Design and Buy program that allows visitors to design their own T-shirts adorned with messages hope, love and support. Additionally Hanes will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from all custom T-shirts from the Design and Buy program to Komen for the Cure.

Additionally for the second year Hanes will offer its PINK Collection of panties, bras, socks and tees designed to create awareness for the cause. As a part of the collection, Hanes spokeswoman and film star Melina Kanakaredes has designed three T-shirts meant to inspire and encourage others to join her in the fight against breast cancer.

Hanes was nice enough to send me one of the shirts Melina designed and I'm only too proud to help support the cause and wear my shirt with pride:

HOPE will save the tatas! :)

And now for a giveaway, weeee! Hanes is going to give one of my fabulous freaders a shirt from their Pink collection as well.

To enter do the following:
Leave a comment with your inspiring or encouraging message for Breast Cancer Awareness. It can be something simple or silly even I just want to hear it. And make sure your email address is entered so I can contact you if you win.

For an extra entry tweet about the giveaway and leave the permalink in a separate comment.

I'll pick a winner next Wednesday, October 27th at 4pm PST.

So let's work together to save the tatas people and embrace the PINK!

Update: Congrats to Amanda for wining the giveaway!

happy wednesday!

*Hanes gave me a free shirt and another to give away and didn't tell me what the heck to write so it's all my own and of course I'd be writing about such a good cause anyways, so back on up FTC.

A New Moon giveaway!

I swear my blog isn't becoming the new Twilight Addicts Anonymous location...well because I am so not Anonymous...ba dum ching! But really, I know there's been a lot of Twilight around here and well it's my blog so I'm okay with that.

And in the spirit of New Moon coming out in a week I figured why not give away the soundtrack, since I was so graciously given one at the press junket and I already owned a copy.

And I gotta say, even if you're not a Twilight fan, this soundtrack is pretty good. It definitely makes me feel all indie/emo/in-the-know when I listen to it which is fun and I figure Rob is probably listening to similar stuff which is even cooler, haha.

And just for funsies here's the tracklist:

"Meet Me on the Equinox" - Death Cab For Cutie
"Friends" - Band of Skulls
"Hearing Damage" - Thom Yorke
"Possibility" - Lykke Li
"A White Demon Love Song" - The Killers
"Satelite Heart" - Anya Maria
"I Belong to You [New Moon remix" - Muse *my favorite track
"Roslyn" - Bon Iver and St. Vincent
"Done All Wrong" - Black Motorcycle Rebel Club
"Monsters" - Hurricane Bells
"The Violet Hour" - Sea Wolf
"Shooting the Moon" - Ok Go
"Slow Life" - Grizzly Bear
"No Sound But the Wind" - Editors
"New Moon [the Meadow]" - Alexandre Desplat

So what do you do to win this New Moon gem? Leave a comment with what your emo band name would be? And for an extra entry, tweet away and leave a new comment with your tweet.

The giveaway ends next Friday, November 20th when New Moon hits the big screen, woo!

happy friday!

Stuff for you to know about me.

Oh yes it's one of those fabulous Friday posts. And go!
  • Thanks to everyone for entering my Blu Fringe giveaway. Pacey Witter is by far my favorite Joshua Jackson role, but I have to agree he's pretty great as Peter Bishop too. Anyhoozits, the winner of the giveaway is:

Congrats! Send me an email with your info and I'll get it sent out. Woo.

  • Speaking of Joshua Jackson, Ali and I are going to Dawson's Creek: A Look Back at the Paley Center in a couple weeks? Want to come with? Buy yourself a ticket and join us! I really don't know what it's going to be like but I love all things Dawson's Creek so I just had to go. And I figure if it's anything like the Fringe event I went to in April that's just fine with me.

  • I actually don't have a wedding to go to this weekend. Wahoo. Just birthday activities for my grandma, not too shabby.

  • I always listen to this song in October and I just love it. You should too.

  • The Dodgers make me crazy sometimes and I really hope we can pull out a couple wins, that would be great. World Series? Yes please.

  • I plan on sleeping in til 10 tomorrow and it will be glorious.

Anything I should know about you today?

happy friday!

Oh what a Blu giveaway!

Oh yes, you read that right folks a giveaway! No real reason why, just felt like it was time for a giveaway. So what's today's prize you ask?

Season 1 of Fringe on BluRay!!

Basically, I love this show. Joshua Jackson is the reason I started watching and really, can you blame me??

check you out Peter Bishop being all scientist like.

oh hello there Josh.

And so you should be watching it to. It's interesting, it's captivating, it's a little crazy at times and definitely has some humor in it too. Sadly I haven't really been watching as much this season because my DVR can only handle so many shows, but they're all saved and ready at Matt's mom's house, so know I will be watching and probably loving it!

So what do you have to do for the giveaway?

Tell me your favorite Joshua Jackson role (I mean really, there are so many to choose from, haha).

And for an extra entry become a fan of Warner Blu on Facebook, woo!

Anyhoo that's all you gotta do. The giveaway ends a week from today, 10/15, and I'll be picking a winner at random. So pass it on and good luck!

Chicago Take Two.

So where did I leave off about Chicago...oh right Thursday night (here's part one). So let's have some more recap shall we? oh and a quick warning, it's going to be a long one but I have tons of pics if that helps :)

Thursday night: After checking into the hotel and relaxing briefly I headed over to the SocialLuxe Lounge party across the street. I basically mingled a bit, hung out with Tara, had some drinks and got a fabulous swag bag. After the party I headed out and finally got some Chicago deep dish pizza with my cousin Jason. And it was delicious! Seriously I don't think pizza can even be bad but this one from some Lou's place was quite scrumptious. After dinner I headed back to the Sheraton where I met up with Jamie and Jessica (my partners in crime all weekend) and we went to the People's Party and 704 Party which were equally awesome. Got to do some drinking, some dancing, some chatting, met some other lovelies and had a grand ole time before calling it a night.

Friday: BlogHer officially commenced! It was so exciting to be back again and see everyone and meet new people. I went in and out of a couple panels only because they weren't all what I thought they'd be but I still enjoyed myself. After the morning session was an awesome lunch break sponsored by Ragu.

the amazingly awesome centerpieces

Seriously, it was such a step up from lunch last year, I loved it! After lunch were some afternoon sessions and got to meet tons more people which is definitely one of the best parts of BlogHer. To the first day there was the community keynote where different bloggers read posts of theirs from the past year. I heard several that were funny some that were sad but all were amazing and I can't wait to see the videos of them again when they go online. After the keynote we went to a fabulous EnergizeHer party and got some manicures done along with some delicious food before heading on over the Brand About Town Nintendo party.

Jamie, me and Jessica showing off our purdy nails

To get to the Nintendo party we rode in horse drawn carriages to the Hancock's Signature Room (which was on the 95th floor, wowza!). Dinner was all sorts of fabulous, I'm pretty sure we had the best table in the place. And ummm I got to meet Rachel and Doni was even there so of course that made the night superb. And Jenn was even there too! Basically it was a party full of rockstars.

heart these ladies

To top of the night we saw a lightning storm that took over all of Chicago and got some fabulous parting gifts. All in all a great way to spend a Friday night.

However the night was far from over. After we got back to the Sheraton we headed to the MamaPop party which was all sorts of amazing. There were movie posters everywhere, a unicorn cake, a RPatz cutout, glow sticks...yeah sort of hard to go wrong there.

oh yes a unicorn cake, so awesome

I thought Rob might be thirsty

and the girls just wanted to show him some loving, haha

Basically a great way to end to the night, haha.

Saturday: Woke up fine and dandy ready to go for a day of panels again. I did go to one panel that I absolutely loved and it was the 'Women in Color and Marketing' themed one. It was amazing. The women were amazing, the interactions were amazing, I feel like everything about it was amazing and I'm so glad I went. After that I went in and out of panels most of the day and roamed around the exhibit hall (which was so cool and so much bigger than last year, seriously ridiculous). Basically it was another great day at BlogHer.

After the closing keynote the ladies and I headed to the BlogHer sponsored cocktail hour which was pretty fun. However I gotta say that the most fun of the night happened afterwards. We all headed over to BowlHer across the street for what was most definitely an amazing time.

Maggie, Jess, Allie and Ashley embracing their new boas

the fabulous Heidi and I showing off
our
matching rings, love it

Jess and I were getting a little frisky
by the end
of the night, haha

all the ladies of the evening
I sort of heart them all like wo

Although there was no bowling done on our parts there was lots of silliness and drinking and eating delicious appetizers (I'm pretty sure I had like seven mozzarella bites, haha). After BowlHer we made our way back to the Sheraton and headed up to the Presidential Suite for the Cheeseburger Party! (recall I went to it at BlogHer last year and at the Mom 2.0 event in February). I don't even think I need to describe it really, I'll let the pictures do the talking:

Heidi, me, Jessica, Tara and Beth rockin some fabulous headware, haha

with the oh so awesome Sizzle

me and Jamie with one of the Cheeseburger hostesses, the fabulous Yvonne

I'd say this sums up the night alright

After the fabulousness of the cheeseburger party Jamie, Jess and myself made a video blog that will surely make it's way to everyone soon and oh man it's a winner alright. Pretty much it was another awesome night and a fabulous way to wrap up the weekend.

Sunday: Ended BlogHer weekend with a lovely breakfast sponsored by Starbucks with nice goodies and treats and it was lovely to see everyone before heading our own merry ways. Got to hang out with Jamie and Jess a bit while I packed my bag (and oh boy was that a feat) and got ready to go. And before I knew it I was in a cab to the airport and on my way home.

And that my friends was my Chicago adventure, whew what a trip. But oh so amazing and I loved every minute of it. So thank you to all of my new friends, my old friends and everyone in between. I seriously heart you all and cannot wait to see you again!

Oh and as if this post wasn't long enough and picture filled I put all my pics up on flickr so check it out!

happy tuesday!

You Don't Say?

First of all I want to say thank you everyone for all of the comment's on yesterday's post. Even thank you to the people that decided to leave me my first negative anonymous comments (hey I think first time in a blog I've had 2 years isn't too bad) because there were plenty of other wonderful comments to negate you and remind me that it really is mine and Matt's wedding and no one else's so whatever we choose will be just fine and dandy. So really, dear freaders you are rock stars.

And on that note again I just should probably do some fiance promotion. I sort of had this crazy idea that Matt could start a blog again and since he's done so much planning of the wedding while he's been out of work that why not write a blog about it. I mean there aren't a ton of wedding blogs written by the groom right? So he actually took me up on my idea and so A Groom's Eye View was started. So feel free to stop on over and check out some weddingness from Matt's perspective and just tell him 'hi', I know he'd appreciate it. Woo.

Well moving on from the weddingness and on to where I am right now. Because I am most definitely not at work, not even in California. If you've been following me on twitter or Facebook you know that I've made my way to Las Vegas again. It's crazy because usually there is at least a year in between my Vegas adventures and this time it's not even a month!! Why am I going you ask? Well one of my good friends Lauren (that I've known since 1st grade) and her family (who are from Ohio and I last saw when I graduated college three years ago) have been in Vegas all week and leave Saturday morning. So my sister, me and another elementary school friend have all trekked out to spend all day today with them (and most appropiately on Lauren's birthday!) and have a grand olve Vegas time.

So yes I'm quite excited to be reunited with some fabulous ladies and hope we don't melt in the 110 degrees that's taking over Sin City at the moment, oh boy.

oh weren't we cute sisters of the 90s, haha me, my sister, Christina and Lauren

Hope you all have a most fabulous weekend!

happy friday!

The half marathon would have gone faster if I was with Edward.

Oh man I am so exhausted right now, thirteen miles can do that to a person, haha. Anyhoo my weekend was quite the weekend and my half marathon was quite the half marathon.

Friday: Got home from work and went to grab some sushi with Matt for dinner (seriously I love sushi, it's so delicious). Afterwards we came home to play some Wii for a bit and went to our neighbor's to watch Ocean's 11. I definitely got tired at like 11:30 and moseyed over to bed incredibly early making me feel oh so old but man I don't care, I like my sleep!

Saturday: I set my alarm nice and early so I could go to Target and get myself a copy of Twilight. Oh yes, I am crazy. 8 on a Saturday is too freakin early to be up but I had to make sure I got a copy of the movie! Luckily I wasn't the only crazy one because there was a line outside of Target, a line! So many of the women in line bee lined over to the Twilight display, it was hilarious. Even more hilarious, the woman buying six copies, six! Now I'm a fan and all but six copies is not necessary. I also felt better when I was in line and checking out with just Twilight and the woman in front of me was in her pjs too and just buying Twilight, oh I was not alone in my fandom. The funniest part of the morning though was when I got home and crawled into bed and Matt rolled over and said "shouldn't you be going to Target now?" and I told him "I just got back!", haha. Good times, good times.

After sleepin a bit more I eventually got up and ready for the day and headed over to Polkatots for the cupcake meetup. It was so much fun trying cupcakes and hanging out with Tara and other cupcake lovers. And the owner of the place was so nice too it was so much fun, a great way to spend an afternoon.

Post cupcake meetup I picked up my stuff for the half marathon and did some shopping, nothing like a new pair of jeans to make your day. After I finished my shopping Matt and I headed over to his dad's house for a nice carb filled dinner and Twilight. Funny thing is, I didn't even suggest we watch Twilight, but we did and I definitely liked it more the second time around. All in all it was a good night and I headed to bed early to prep for the big day on Sunday! '

Sunday: First of all, thank you to everyone for the awesome comments on Friday's post about the half marathon. I was definitely psyching myself out a bit beforehand but when Sunday morning came I was ready. I woke up early, showered, had some oatmeal, did some stretches and was ready to go. Unfortunately the weather gods weren't completely on our side but we made it nonetheless. There was some rain on and off throughout the day but when it stopped it was awesome. And after three hours and forty seven minutes we all finished! Wahoo! It was such a great feeling to finish it. And even better was that Matt surprised me and showed up at the finish line to cheer us on :)

I wish I had the pictures of us to share but the site hasn't posted them yet and my sister forgot her camera cord. But I do have proof, my shirt with my number and my medal! I'm pretty sure it's my first medal ever, haha.

All in all I must say I'm proud of myself and of my aunts and my mom, it was a great thing to do together and I can't wait until the next time.

After the half marathon I headed home, had a pizza and took a nice nap. Afterwards all the ladies (and my uncle) celebrated our half marathon finish at my aunt's house with tacos and Twilight (oh yes I watched it a second time). It was the best way to celebrate I could ever think of.

And that my friends was my weekend, Twilight and a half marathon. Love it.

And how was your weekend?

A SUPER giveaway!

So first of all, the Garner-Afflecks finally released the name of their new little bebe girl and who am I to NOT tell you that one. Violet's new little sister's name is

.....Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck. ta da!

I, although probably biased, think it's a cute name. Now I don't know that I'd name my future kid Seraphina, but still it's cute and congrats to the happy fam! :)

Anyhoo moving on to something totally unrelated to celebrity bebes and their cuteness... the Super Bowl! (see, I know you were wondering what the hell was up with that title and now it has meaning, haha).

Haha, yeah that was an awful transition but really I'm going to talk about the Super Bowl. Now I really don't care too much about pro-football, I'm more of a college ball girl myself, but Matt was into it BIG TIME this year because he was in a fantasy football league. So I actually got to know some of the pro players and teams and what not and sort of started to like it, sort of.

Nonetheless, even if I didn't like pro football I'd still watch the Super Bowl. I mean how could I pass up watching amazing commercials, nip slips, drunk fans and hanging out with my guy friends as they scream and cheer at the game. Basically, Superbowl Sunday is awesome.

And you know what? It's going to be a little bit more awesome for someone this year. Because I'm giving something awesome, courtesy of the lovely Tara, the Ultimate Super Bowl Party Pack!

And what is in this party pack you ask? Well, let me tell ya:

  • 1 Football
  • 1 Beverage Pail
  • 1 Snack Helmet (how awesome is that?!)
  • 2 Key Chains
  • 2 Hats
  • 2 T-Shirts
  • 5 Pepsi 24 pack coupons
  • 5 Frito Lay coupons
I mean really, how sweet is that? You'll have everything you'll need for a grand ole Super Bowl party! (minus the alcohol of course, haha). And what do you have to do to win such a rockin prize? Simply leave a comment telling me who your football team is (college or pro) and why? And to get an extra entry tweet about the contest or post about it on your blog and post it in the comments. Woot!

I'll pick a winner at random next Wednesday, January 21st, so get going and good luck!

happy wednesday!

Woooooooe is me, a Halloween predicament.

Yesterday when I left work it was dark outside, dark I tell you at 6:30 pm. And the weather was in the 70s/80s not the 100s. So yes, yes it is finally October like weather in good ole Southern California and I love it (minus the dark after work thing, that I could still go without). And with Octoberness and Autumness comes one of my favorite holidays, Halloween!

As you may or may not know I love dressing up and I love theme parties, and of course Halloween is just one big ole theme party. In college I was all about the group costumes and since I've been with Matt I have have throughly enjoyed the couples costumes and this year is no different. Matt and I have been racking our brains to think of a fun couples costume and we've both been drawing blanks. In our years of coupledom we've gone as Pebbles and Bamm Bamm and a nurse and patient, so both of those are out. Other than that, we're stuck.

Other costumes that are highly entertaining but have also been nixed include:

the bad genie

a human beer pong table

and the biggest show on earth

Clearly none of those costumes would suffice for Matt or myself so alas we are in a predicament. Hence where you, my creative readers, come into play. Please oh please share your Halloween costume ideas and if we happen to go with your suggestion you'll win a most fabulous prize!

So share away, we need the help!

Woo!

happy wednesday!

The Right Stuff.

Today I would usually reserve for my weekend recap, but since the weekend is still going because of the long holiday, no recap today folks. Come back tomorrow for all the recapping goodness of my weekend, woo.

But I do have something just as cool for today, maaaaybe even cooler.....a givewaway!

Now to my male readers I don't know if you'll want to enter or if you do you can give it to your girlfriends or sisters or just keep it for yourself to jam away too (I swear I won't tell, haha).

And what is this coveted prize you ask.....?

Drum roll please......

The New Kids on the Block's new CD "The Block"! Woo!

As you all should know by now I grew up loving the New Kids and even had the good fortune to meet Jordan in the airport back in March (full story here, prepare for lots of gibberish excitement) and still can't get over it.

Cruising 'round the blogosphere.

So I thought today I would take a page out of fabulous Jenn's book and highlight some of the fabulous things going on around the blogosphere. Enjoy!
  • Janet seriously knows how to prep for a fabulous girl's weekend. Color me jealous.

  • I love ice cream. I mean who doesn't? And according to Jamie there is an ice cream place in Chi Town that makes it liquid nitrogen style....crazay!

  • Seems like wishcake is the latest blogger who's writing has been plagiarized. Seriously people this needs to stop.

  • Vanessa is having a giveaway for the Onion movie which is pretty funny because that was one of my campaigns, haha. Anyhoo, go enter!

  • Dana is also having a giveaway for Cabana Life clothing. Looks pretty schnazzy, so go check it out!

  • I really wanted to go camping this summer, but unfortunately that just didn't happen. However I will continue to camp vicariously through Sarah's amazing pictures. I love it.

  • Maxie's coworker doesn't know how to use Google. I am stunned.

  • Today is mcgee's birthday, so head on over and wish her a most fabulous birthday!

  • Luckily I am not the only person who has somehow managed to become obsessed with the Olympics and develop and itsy bitsy crush on a certain swimmer and his abs, haha, Ashley is so there too.
And that's all I got today folks. Any other fun stuff happenin around the blogs? Post it in the comments. Woot.

I stand and they win.

So there are two things I want to cover today. One: Stand Up To Cancer. and Two: the winnnnnner(s) of the oh-so-awesome weirdest gift giveaway!

Stand Up To Cancer. I hadn't really heard too much about it besides the celebrity filled commercial until the fabulous Tara asked me to submit a picture for the cause and I couldn't say yes fast enough. Cancer has affected my family in more ways than I'd like to admit and is currently affecting my friends families as well, so anything I can do to help, I want to. So this is my submission....I stand for....

And what do you stand for?

And now on to not so serious things, the winners! My sister took her job as judging committee quite seriously and decided based on a few things she said...and I quote"if they wanna know what i used to critique their gifts, it was based on how they explained the story, and the irony and pure weird factor (no, not bitterness) of the story." So there ya have it folks...and who did my sister pick?

Drumroll please.......

Coming in third is Dan Mega who submitted this gem:
An urn with ashes in it, and I didn't know whose they were.

And in second place we have robin_titan with:
when i was in second grade we all had a secret santa and i forgot what i gave considering how my mom shopped for the gift herself because i'm not a good gift giver, not even at that age, so...someone gave me a really really really bad gift. i recieved a wrapped up pen TOP, a pen TOP, and what was worse that that, yeah worse, was that it was all chewed up(eww!!) that's it no pen no nice christmas gift, just an old chewed up icky pen top.
it was the worst present i have ever gotten.

and taking the cake with first place we have Therapeutic Ramblings with:
"Chlamydia Trachomatis" stuffed animal. Nothing says fun like getting a plushie animal modeled after a VD microbe!

Congrats to the winners! And thanks to everyone for participating, my sister and I had a great time reading your stories, you guys really have gotten some random ass stuff, haha.

Hope you all have a most fabulous weekend!

A giveaway? Oh? A GIVEAWAY!

First of all I want to say thank you to everyone that Twittered and emailed me to see if I was okay in the midst of the LA earthquake. You guys are so sweet! So many people I haven't even met making sure I'm okay...now that's what I call awesome. But yes my office swayed and shook a bit but I'm okay (as are all my friends and fam), you all really do rock.

And now onto today's pressing matters....A giveaway! Wheee!

Did you see that, a giveaway. After reading Jenn's post yesterday I was reminded of all the totally extra swag from BlogHer that is just hanging out in my room going unused and waiting for an owner to appreciate them. And as I am in the process of downsizing and cleaning up to get ready for the upcoming move of course I'm going to give stuff away. So what am I giving away this time?

one Saving Grace t-shirt
four Saving Grace drink markers
3 pens, because really everyone needs pens
a $20 T-Mobile gift card for Wifi or something
a whole bunch of Dental Burst
a 1gig flash drive
and whatever else I decide to toss in there :)

Doesn't that sound amazing? So intriguing? And what do you have to do to win such a fabulous prize...all you have to do is tell me the most bizarre gift you've ever gotten or given. Simple right?

Just submit your entry and I'll show it to the judging committee (my sister) and they'll make their decisions on Friday! So get going and share! Woo!

And while you're at it feel free to check out other giveaways at the Bloggy Giveaways going on now:

Everyone likes a contest, even Ryan Cabrera.

So remember a while back when I said I didn't like Ryan Cabrera's new look? Yeah I'm still not a huuuuge fan, but after hearing him on the radio this morning I remember why I used to love him. Yeah I said it, I was a fan, heck I was a huge fan. I played "On the Way Down" more times than I can count and probably drove my roommates crazy in the process, haha. I even went to his very first headlining concert when he performed in Columbus the night of the presidential election and it was amazing (Papa Joe was even there, haha). Anyhoo, point being, I still love Ryan and his music and his personality, he just cracks me up. So I highly recommend you check out his new single "Say" and probably his whole CD May 13, it's probably going to be awesome. Yeah I said it, awesome.

Now moving on...

So several bloggers have been posting stuff about Paying it Forward (and no not the movie, eck) and sharing stories of good things people have done for them or what they've done for other people. So I posted one of the best accounts of random kindness I have ever encountered over at Brandy's blog and I wanted to share it again here:

A couple years ago when I was on my way back to California from Ohio I had the worst plane debacle ever, where I got rerouted, detoured and deplaned several times and ultimately got stuck in Houston. I then learned that I couldn't leave until about 8 the next morning (this was about 6 at night). And I couldn't help it, I started to cry as I talked to my dad on the phone, it was awful. I think I even started crying when I talked to Matt on the phone too, I was a mess. An older couple was sitting right across from me and was having the same ordeal of trying to get back to LA and saw me and my multiple break downs. Ultimately we all rebooked our flights together, but I just couldn't stop sobbing. After I got off the phone we talked a bit and then they decided to leave and go get a hotel room. But before they left the guy came over and gave me 20$ to make sure I could get something to eat. I had money and I told him I was okay, but he insisted. It was seriously one of the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for me. And if he's out there, thank you :)

And with that being shared I want to ask you all, what's the nicest thing someone has done for you or that you've done for someone else? Share your stories. I'll pick one (or two) people's stories to share and send them some schnazzy prize, woot. Contest ends Friday. Good luck and can't wait to hear your stories!

and happy wednesday!
