I think I'm becoming a coffee drinker.

And I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

I used to be the girl that couldn't even walk into a Starbucks because the smell drove me insane. Then I managed to stay in one long enough to order their cinnamon apple cider (seriously that stuff is freaking delicious). Eventually I made it towards mocha frappuccinos (aka deliciousness I can only had a Tall version of) which made me feel a little more hip, haha. But that's about as far as I've ever gotten coffee-wise...until two weeks ago.

My office usually has a hearty supply of hot chocolate, which helps satisfy my occasional need for caffeine. However we've been lacking in the hot cocoa department lately and I had to wake up (and warm my freezing hands) somehow, so I made coffee. Well let's back that up, someone else made and I just drank some because making coffee is a whole other beast. So yes I had some coffee, added a healthy serving of vanilla creamer and I didn't hate it.

I didn't hate it really at all and so two days later, I had another cup. And then yesterday I had yet ANOTHER cup of coffee. This is more than one cup of normal person coffee that I have consumed in the past two weeks and it's just weird. Yes I feel a little more grown up and like I've joined some elite club but I also feel like I don't want to be a coffee drinker, I don't want my teeth to get stained and I don't want to be addicted!!

So we'll see how this goes. Don't know if I'll have another cup today, I'm taking it day by day.

Are you a coffee drinker? An every day kind or once-in-a-while kind of drinker?

I've got the Blues.

I love movies, this is no surprise. I usually try and see the Oscar nominated films and even the random ones that no one has heard about. And usually I look forward to watching the nominated flicks (although I admit I've yet to see The English Patient and I'm pretty sure I never will) however this year is a bit different.

I've already seen some of the movies I know are going to get nominated and ones that won Golden Globes, but the biggest one, the one everyone is talking about, the one that is breaking all sorts of records....Avatar...I have yet to see it and honestly I really really don't want to.

I know, I know if I see it I am bound to love it. I mean I didn't want to see Speed when it was in theaters, I was forced to go and look how that turned out? It was the first movie I ever saw twice in theaters and became my numero uno movie and propelled my love for Keanu and Sandra. But really, Avatar just screams Fern Gully and Pocahontas to me and everyone says how great it is in 3D, but umm confession, I hate watching movies in 3D because I have to wear glasses when I watch movies and yeah it gives me a headache, downer I know.

But with all of that said I am giving in, I will watch Avatar. I will find three hours to watch a bunch of blue people and hopefully I'll like it, but I make no guarantees. However it doesn't hurt that I get to admire this hot piece for some of it right?

helloooooo Sam Worthington.

So tell me, have you seen Avatar? What did you think?

Hollywoodopolos.

It's Tuesday and you know what that means, Hollywood day. So here we go...
  • Starting off this week we have my favorite bebe in Hollywood, little Violet Affleck looking her oh so adorable self while strolling around town with mom. Seriously she is just so darn cute!

    preciousness.

  • Next up in the cuteness we have little Zuma Rossdale at the park with momma Gwen. Seriously this little boy is getting cuter and cuter every day, love it.

    tre adorable!

  • In non-cute bebe news we have some other Hollywood happenings...Gerard Butler made out with a random violin player, and I'm slightly jealous...Ryan Gosling is having all sorts of fun at Sundance and why aren't I there too???....there is currently talk of a SPICE GIRLS MUSICAL, say what!? that would be awesome!!....Lauren Conrad has written yet another book and I bet it'll be another top seller, good for her...P. Diddy hosted a ridiculous sweet sixteen birthday party for his son Justin and I sort of can't wait to see it on an MTV special because there's gold and crowns and a crazy Lil Kim sighting, so basically it has to be awesome...Gary Coleman was arrested on charges of domestic abuse and man he looks creepy, shutter, ugh.

  • Oh so the SAG awards were on Sunday and there was some superb fashion going on and so many of my favorites were there again I just loved it.

    Sandra and Jesse, heart them.

    LOVE this dress, way to
    work it Lea Michelle.

Why hellloooo Joshua and Diane, you two look fabulous!

    oh Anna you look stunning.

Oh what a Golden Girl indeed.

  • And in today's Twilight news...
New stills from Rob Pattinson's newest flick, Remember Me, were released and um some of them make me swoon.

    le swoon.

  • In music news...
My favorite, Craig David, released a new single and it's so catchy. Not his best work but definitely not his worse, and man is he aging well. Let's just hope he films his next video in LA and not Miami because I could totally dance to it, haha.

Also in music news, who the hell is this Justin Bieber kid??? He sort of weirds me out just by looking at him. But apparently if I was ten or so I'd have his poster everywhere, I just don't get it.

  • And in TV news...
The Mentalist. I LOVE THIS SHOW. Not even kidding, I laugh more watching this show than I do in most of the comedies I watch. And it doesn't hurt that I get to look at Simon Baker for an hour either, he is just so freaking swoon worthy to me, haha. But um so yeah this last week's episode was just as good as the rest and it was a twisty turny tale trying to catch a mayor's assistant's killer.

Grey's Anatomy. I haven't yelled at the characters on this show in oh so long but man was I yelling when I watched last week's. I yelled at Cristina and Owen and told them to make out already and I swooned when they made out, I yelled at McSteamy when he got mad at Lexie because it was just dumb, I yelled at Meredith for not turning the cheif in sooner, I yelled at Izzie simply for being annoying and Izzy and I yelled at Alex because I knew he'd say he couldn't take Izzie back and I was sort of okay with it. Basically all sorts of dillemmas and drama and ah, when can the show just be happy again, at least a little bit.

Glee. Is it April yet??? I miss this show!! But at least when it's coming back Idina Menzel and Neil Patrick Harris will both be guest stars and I couldn't be more excited!!!

  • Lastly in today's WTF news we have a priest in trouble with the law because he decided to shoplift some butter and a sofa cover. Um say what? I'm pretty sure it's frowned upon in the church to shoplift, haha.

And that's all I have today, anything I missed let me know!

happy tuesday!

All about the weekend.

So another weekend has come and gone and as always it happened way too fast because I am not quite ready for today to be Monday. So weekend, here we go...

Friday: Made a delicious dinner with Matt then sat back to watch some DVRed shows and drink some wine. However I got a text from my aunt and uncle asking if we wanted to meet them at the bar and we were all over it, haha. So we went out for some drinks and had a great time before coming back home to hang out with my sister and her friend Jess and we played some Movie Fact or Crap and then some Scene It for the Wii again and it was all sorts of awesome.

Saturday: Woke up to do some Wii Fit and EA Active (which kicked my butt, ohhhhman) before getting a start on the day. Matt and I had a delicious lunch at the Counter. If you've never been to the Counter then you are seriously missing out, it is all sorts of deliciousnes. After running some errands I headed over to Tara's fabulous Degree Red Satin party to watch the SAG awards.

some of the ladies on the red carpet to Tara's place.

I was seriously on cloud 9 to watch an awards show with other people and the fact that it was fun people and I got to see Tara and be all girly and get a manicure and fun schwag and some Degree deodorant. Basically it was a loverly evening. Afterwards Matt picked me up and we went down to Redondo to hang out and have dinner with our friend Mike and his girlfriend and his friend and we went to Buca and it was delicious and more wine was consumed and laughs were had and basically an all around great night.

Sunday: Slept in til 10 (I almost forgot how wonderful that feeling is) before getting to work in the kitchen to help Matt make some goodies for football watching. Basically did that, watched a bit of football with the crew, then walked nine miles, holy soreness, haha. The rest of my night was spent not walking, actually watching shows on the DVR and just relaxing and it was heavenly.

And how was your weekend? Loverly I hope!

happy monday!

Loser.

Yesterday someone told me that they thought I lost weight. And it was sort of awesome. It's always a pleasant surprise when hard work pays off. In this case my hard work has been walking several days a walk to train for the half marathon I'm walking in in a month and getting out of bed an hour early almost every day to do some Wii Fit before I go to work.

Yes it is nuts, Yes I am tired, Yes I feel better after doing it and Yes I am finally motivated. So motivated in fact that I am putting it out here on the blog for all to see and all to keep me in check. I'm not even kidding, I won't mind if someone says "so hey how was that Wii work out this morning?" because I want to be able to answer and say I did it. Not only that, Matt just bought me EA Active and I can't wait to try it out this weekend.

Seriously who am I? Excited to work out. Well I'd say it's a good thing. It's a good thing I'm trying to be a loser, a good thing I'm motivated, good thing I have a goal and it's a good thing I've put it out there.

So internet, I am determined to be a loser and a loser I will be. Hurrah!

To the internet with love.

It's days like yesterday that make me love the internet even more than I usually do. Not only have I met some amazing people and made fantastic friends online but I have come to realize how amazing and powerful it can be when we all work together.

Somehow I missed the Love Harder memo but that doesn't mean I can't post about it today. So in case you were in a hole yesterday watch this video and be amazed at the power of fabulous people coming together for one great cause.

This isn't the first time the internet has put a smile on my face, we've come together for surprise bridal showers, for blogger birthdays, for bloggers walking to cure cancer and any other time someone has been in need of a pick me up. However I think this is the biggest blog takeover I've ever seen and it just makes my heart so happy.

It makes me happy to know that Brandy had no idea this was coming, it makes me happy to see so many bloggers I know belting out a fabulous song, it makes me happy that in such a short time so much money has already been raised and it makes me happy that we can all be there for each other.

So what are you waiting for? LOVE HARDER.

Fine lines.

I've realized as Matt and I have been in the midst of wedding planning and randomly adding elements to our apartment (we got a new book shelf and I love it), there is a fine line between girly and unisex. I've tried my best to maintain that line and keep our apartment and our wedding in the unisex/gender neutral category (aka not too many florals, no pictures of Rob Pattinson on the wall, no magenta table linens, etc.) but I feel like some of it is just not right.

In my attempt to maintain a neutral living space and a neutral wedding I feel like I've lost the girliness I love so much. Yes I should probably just talk to Matt about this more (and I have) instead of writing about it but I want more girly stuff in our lives and I need help.

I want cute banners and pictures of us hanging up and maybe some dorky signs displayed at our wedding and I'm pretty sure I will and it will be okay, I just don't want the girly to take over or be shoved to the side, so how do I find that happy medium?

And as for our apartment, everyone that comes over says how cute it is and I agree it is cute, it's random it's fun and I love it. But then sometimes I'll see pictures of Kerri or Kyla or Kay's (to name a few) apartments and my heart melts at the cuteness and the girly aspects that our apartment lacks.

Maybe I just have to wait until we have a house or until we move to really let loose with my decorative ideas and somewhat girly tendencies or maybe just work it out with Matt some more.

On the wedding end, I'm pretty sure I'm one of the luckiest future brides in that Matt is willing to help (and man is he helping, like a lot) as well as indulge my ridiculous cutesy ideas and fun things while also putting me in my place that really, some things are necessary even if I saw it on a wedding blog.

So basically I'm just posting this to ask, how do you find the happy medium? How do you compromise? Is there really such a thing as just gender neutral that is still cute? So many questions that aren't all that important but I need help, so thank you in advance.

this is my motto. sort of.

Live from the Golden Globes.

So two nights ago I was curled up on my couch, covered in a blanket, drinking water with my computer perched in my lap as I took notes and twittered about the Golden Globes. I was going to break down my random thoughts into an actual post but then I figured just posting what I wrote would be a wee bit more entertaining, so here we go:
*don't mind all the weird formatting, it was late and I'm too lazy to fix it all now*

Nice open Ricky, love all the jokes.

Oh Julianne I love those earrings.

Ooooh Monique for the win, yaaaay LOVED how amazing she was in that movie even as such an awful person, she can be taken seriously , holy hell I didn’t realize how many other awards shes won this season already.

Oh Lea you look so cute I love it.

Yay Toni, finally someone other than Tina, Tina I love you but glad you didn’t win; oh right she’s Australian, haha, and um love that oh so sparkly dress.

Man it looks hard to maneuver through there, is there no direct path??

Come on NPH for the win.

How is Jeremy Piven still getting nominated? Is this show still good?

Oh sad, another time NPH another time.

"Animation is not just for children, it’s also for adults that take drugs" – Paul McCartney aka hilariousness.

And of course UP wins it, pixar can do no wrong and that movie was adorable.

Dear Kate Hudson, what is that dress please explain.

“one thing that can’t be bought, is a golden globe….officially” – Ricky Gervais

Oh Felicity such a pretty dress, I like, I like.

Comeeeeeeee on SIMON, you should win simply for your hottness and Australianness and mmmmmm.

Okay well Michael can win too, and I teared up just looking at him, he didn’t even have to mention cancer.

Glenn Close and Helen Mirren could be sisters, they age so gracefully.

Oh very nice Juliana, way to go 6 times later, but what is that dress!?

Elisabetta is one lucky biatch, hello George.

Cher scares me, and Christina’s dress, um okay sure.

Oh Amy I love that dress and that color, but your hair? I'll give it to you because you're pregnant.

I feel like Jeremy Irons is all about the mini series now, does he even do movies any more?

Grey Gardens, sure. Why not.

Tom how you have aged well, I feel like I should just go watch Sleepless in Seattle right this second. *added note, I watched it on TV Monday afternoon, haha.

Marion’s makeup looks flawless.

How the crap did Julia get nominated for Duplicity? Did anyone even see that movie?!!

Aw yay Merryl, glad you didn’t cancel yourself out, you were pretty perfect as Julia Child – but holy hell awards shows love you woman, 25 nominations and 7 wins holy hell.

Helen Mirren, looks freaking fabulous.

Hellloooo Sam Worthington an you’re delicious accent, how come no one told me you're Australian?!?!

Oh Drew you look fabulous even with the weird looking snail things on your dress and aw this is your first globe, precious.

Oh helloooo slit in Jen Aniston’s dress and Gerard you are always so dapper and quite tan.

Oh Jen Garner I love how sparkly you are and your smile and ah I love it.

Freaking a Alec Baldwin wins? Yet again? Eh.

Not bad Sophia Loren, not bad.

Leo makes my heart swoon.

Sadly I don’t want any of the dramas that were nominated, whoops.

Hello Taylor, you look so handsome, as always I lurve it.

What the hell is Chloe’s dress? So many ruffles, I don’t get it.

Helloooo Halle, I don’t think it’s possible to look bad, and hello boobs.

Matt Damon, god are you dreamy.

And again I haven’t seen any of the movies of the men nominated for supporting actor, whoops.

Leo you will always make me swoon, seriously you are such a dream boat, and your eyes are so bluuuuue.

Martin Scorsese for the special award, love it. Why does this movie montage not have anything from the Departed??? Oh there it is, I see. Okay why are they showing clips from Shutter Island??? I thought we already discussed this and the preview alone is giving me the heeebeee geebies, yikes. And Marty, you are a shorty, I should have known.

I like a drink as much as the new man, unless it’s Mel Gibson – Ricky, oh my god I almost spit out my water laughing so hard.

Freaking A Avatar, do I really need to see that movie now? James, cut your hair! And um how awkward his ex wife was nominated too? Crazy pants.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay GLEE!!!!!!!! Love what everyone is wearing, so fabulous and they're so happy and it makes me happy and yay can it be April and bring that show back already?

Oh the Hangover boys, where is Zach??

Reese you look quite lovely, as always and man I love that color….clearly…it’s my wedding color, radiant.

The HANGOVER for the win, I absolutely freaking love it. That movie was one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in forever. And Bradley, way to step up the hotness yet again. But really why are they all matching, haha.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Sandra I knew you could win it, I heart you!!!! I HEART YOU!!!! (I’ll forgive your weird hair) but my goodness yay, Kate won it last year and I knew you could do it. Yes I know Precious was awesome and Gaby probably should have won but gah I love Sandra like wo, I can’t stray!

So many favorites in one room, Josh Jackson, Sandra Bullock, Simon Baker, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, all we need is a Keanu and I’d be in heaven.

RDJ I sort of really heart you and this awesome speech.

Kate you look divine, as always, my favorite, love you.

The Dude wins it big time, very nice. I guess I gotta see this movie now.

I think Julia may be a little bit wastey face? Maybe she’s been drinking what Mariah’s been sipping on .

Avatar? Really? Blue people? 3 hours? I only sit through one movie that long, Titanic, clearly. But really? Do I haaaaave to see this movie?

And it’s over, sad face. Because it was fabulous.

So that's all folks, my recap in all its random rambling glory. Hope you enjoyed!

Oh and if you want to see more fashion, check out Jessica's Golden Globe recap, hers are always fabulous and I usually agree with her about 90% :)

And in case you wanted more random streaming thoughts of the show, be sure to check out Dlisted’s live blogging, I freaking laughed hysterically the whole time. http://dlisted.com/node/35664

Weekend done right.

Oh another weekend come and gone...but wait, it's not gone, because I have today off...wooooord (yeah I just said word, haha). However tomorrow's post (if I can get it done today) is going to be Golden Globe centric, woo, so I figured I'd share some of my weekend today. So here we go....

Friday: Had a nice night in with Matt, made some dinner, watched some TV, played some Scene It on the Wii, pretty much lovely. Those are some of my favorite kind of nights and I'll take them when we have them because man when we get busy we usually get busy fast so quiet nights are a good thing.

Saturday: Checked out a florist with Matt (ooooh flowers!), then ran some errands which included putting a dent in my wallet at Old Navy (seriously I spend way too much money there), then did some cleaning up at home before eventually heading out to dinner with Matt, my sister, her bf and my cousin Kenji (hi Kenji!) and his gf Kristine in town from NorCal. It was quite the fun filled dinner and then we came back to our apartment for a rousing game of Apples to Apples while watching the Hangover. Basically another great night with some great people.

a pretty old pic of me and Kenji
but I had to give the photo shout out too :)

Sunday: Woke up early to walk at Griffith Park, before coming home to do a whole lot of cleaning and reading and then Golden Globe watching. Seriously I love awards shows, they make me happy. And it reminded me how much I love watching these shows with people that love it as much as I do or are just amused by my reactions, so with that I'm pretty sure I have to have an Academy Award party, woo.

And that was my weekend. Simple. Lovely. Wonderous.

happy monday!

At this moment.

Currently I am...

reading: The Boleyn Inheritance. Phillipa Gregory you and your Tudor ways have drawn me in yet again, don't let me down please.

listening to: O.A.R.'s new 4 disc, 4 hour live CD, Rain or Shine. I'm pretty sure I've listened to it three times all the way through already. I am in looooooove.

not stressing about: putting together our guest list. Seriously thank you for your advice and kind words I sincerely appreciate it like wo.

eating: an apple with cheese.

wishing I was eating: baked macaroni and cheese.

dreaming of: being here...

anticipating: a most lovely weekend.

And what are you doing today? And lovely weekend plans?

happy friday!

Hellooo Keanu.

I don't think I really emphasized on Tuesday's post about Keanu's transformation. I feel like it happens about twice a year. Twice a year when Keanu has to shower and shave and cut his hair because he's filming a movie and it's that brief span of time that I aim to meet him. Although I am a big fan and he's my number one, his scruffy mcscrufferson hobo look does not do it for me.

If you recall Keanu previously looked like this (aka as the not filming or trying to impress anyone phase):

a razor? what's that for?

And now, Keanu is currently filming some movie that I have no idea what it's about but I will most likely see unless it's super scary or something like Shutter Island (Leo I love you but why oh why are you doing such a creepy movie that I know my heart won't be able to handle because I'd like to make it to 26 thank you) and he looks good, well I think he looks good, maybe a little concerned in this picture and not quite Jack Traven good but eh it's better than the no-shave phase:

oh that's what a razor is for.

and now I can act, woa.

So the point of this post? Keanu has shaved and now is my time to meet him! So send all Keanu vibes my way (which probably include a Woa or three) and fingers crossed his filming brings him to LA and I'll be able to meet him because that would be all sorts of awesome and I have yet to see a celeb in 2010 (yes I know 2010 is only 14 days old but I'm impatient) and why not start it off with my numero uno right?

Do you heart all your number one's looks? Do you even have a number one? Do you like Keanu too? Wait don't answer that last one, I don't really want to know, haha. Keanu 4 Eva.

happy thursday!

The Guest List Blues.

So it's been a while since I've done some wedding talk and I figured today was as good as any to get some things off my chest.

For one, Matt and I rock. I'm pretty sure we're one of the easiest couples to please and to work with and yes that does sound a bit arrogant but really, I think we are. We don't have any ideas set in stone so we're super flexible with people's ideas and proposals and we're nice.

So with that said, in the past month we've managed to hire a photographer, meet with a potential florist (meeting with another one this weekend) and booked a hotel block for our friends to stay in. Pretty much we're right on track (so people stop telling me how soon August 28th is, I know when it is, haha) where we want to be and we're slowly checking more things off our to-do list and it's awesome.

I love that we're doing so much together and being so efficient and it's just all sorts of sweetness. However, what's not so sweet and what I've been dreading since we first got engaged? THE GUEST LIST.

We've already sort of worked on the guest list before but now we really have to get serious since Save the Dates go out next month and I'm having heart palpitations just thinking about it. I feel bad because I've freaked out on Matt saying how it just sucks because there are so many people I want there and we can only afford so many and yeah I'm a whiner sometimes.

Basically we both have huge families and have kept in touch with a lot of friends and yeah narrowing it down has just been difficult to say the least and I tend to freak out and whine and complain and wish that we'd magically get more money to invite more people but I know that's just not happening.

So in the meantime I love everything about our wedding except the guest list. How did you/will you/should I get over the guest list blues? Maybe just start picking names from a hat, haha?

However, when I'm not freaking out about the guest list I'll be making Matt practice some dance moves with me, because I need some serious help and hello I can't step on his feet during our first dance!

happy wednesday!

*I realized I say "So" a lot and as an English minor I should be ashamed, but umm yeah I'm not.

Suit up Hollywood!

And hello Tuesday, ready for some Hollywood? Why yes of course you are.
  • Starting off this week's cuteness we have an oh so adorable play date between Michelle Williams and Matilda with one of my faves Busy Phillips and her daughter Birdie. Basically it makes me happy to see Dawson alums hanging out and being cute.

    so much cuteness!

  • Also in the cuteness we have a newbie to the blog, Rachel Griffiths from Brothers and Sisters shows off her smiley baby Clementine, seriously she is precious.

    so so precious!!

  • In some other bebeness, one of my faves, Seraphina turned one last week, so Happy Birthday Seraphina! Cuteness!

  • Moving on from the bebes and on to some Hollywood news...Katy Perry and Russel Brand got engaged New Year's Eve, they make quite the cute couple but man that was quick....Kate Gosselin's got some new hair and it took 20 hours and cost a pretty penny like wo...Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol after this season....and the People's Choice Awards were on last week, it wasn't that great of a show but some of my faves were there...

    heart these two.

heart him and his funniness as well.

oh how I miss those Glee kids on TV but don't
    they look dashing.

  • And in some favoriteness...
Diane Kruger paid a visit to Joshua Jackson on the set of Fringe and umm they are just adorable. And apparently Diane has a guest spot but of course I wouldn't know since I haven't been able to watch this season due to some scheduling conflicts but I still heart him and them and they are lovely.

the couple that works together, stays together.

Also in favoritesness, Keanu is on set for a new film. And ohmygod he shaved! He may not look his best but man he looks better than uber scruffy unshowered Keanu, haha. Unfortunately he's smoking and eh I hope it's for his character.

  • In Twilight news...
Anna Kendrick gave an entertaining interview on Ellen saying how she basically pitted George Clooney and Rob Pattinson against each other via their magazine covers and their icon standings. Heart both leading men.

Another Twilight alum is also in the news for another movie role, Cam Ciganet has started shooting scenes with Christina Aguilera for Burlesque and I gotta say he looks a lot better than he did as James.

    rawr!

  • And in TV news...
How I Met Your Mother. The 100th episode, the big shabang, the mother is finally revealed...well sort of. I love that Ted actually talked about the mother and was in reaching distance! We're so close....yet so far. And Barney's suit dilemma, yeah loved the Tim Gunn cameo, so funny. But the suit song, oh the song. Twas loverly. NPH can sing to me any day, I mean really he's wonderful.

    suit up!

Desperate Housewives. As always check out my review over at BSC Review.

  • Lastly in today's WTF news I say WTF Pete Carroll, WTF. If you didn't know, I'm a USC football fan. And Pete was our coach. And now's he's leaving to go to the pros and it's just not very nice. So my WTF goes to you Pete, hope you enjoy the Seattle rain while it's super sunny and fabulous here.

Anything I missed? Let me know!

happy tuesday!

The weekend was Fact not Crap.

It was a pictureless fabulous and all sorts of busyness weekend. So busy in fact that I'm so exhausted and today's recap will most likely be short and sweet.

Friday: After work, came home and had dinner with Matt and invited my best friend Megan over as well. Had a lovely time hanging out and eating and drinking wine. Eventually the neighbors came over and we played some Movie Fact or Crap while watching the Hangover. Eventually we just watched the movie, which I swear gets funnier every time we watch it, and drank wine and it was all sorts of loverly.

Saturday: Basically the day went like this. Check out potential wedding photographer with Matt. Home to take down Christmas decorations finally. Check out another wedding photographer in the complete opposite direction. Dinner with my parents. See a play with my mom. Drink some wine and watch TV with Matt for the rest of the night. Rinse and repeat.

Sunday: Went a bit like this. Matt went to Long Beach to watch football. I went to the grocery store in my pajamas to buy milk. Had breakfast. Gave myself a pedicure. Wore a skirt and t-shirt (yes I needed to note that because it is January and LA missed that memo). Did all sorts of useful shopping. Walked six miles with my mom and aunts. Came home to watch movies and TV and relax with Matt and say goodbye to the weekend.

So that was my weekend, nothing too exciting but fun nonetheless. And how was yours?

oh and just because I don't really like a post without a picture, enjoy this pic of Simon Baker because I'm ready for some new episodes of the Mentalist and he's a dream boat. :)

happy monday!

I should be embarrassed.

But really I'm not. I just don't always like to admit it. But I am. Right now. Right this second. I should be but am no longer embarrassed about the following...
  • I love country music, especially Keith Urban. Like I blare Keith music at work and try not to sing along it's that good.
  • I go to YouTube just to listen to "Tik Tok" and I cannot stop. And I don't even like Mick Jagger or brushing my teeth with Jack, ew.
  • My ears. They are huge. And they stick out, a lot. Well maybe not so much any more but I've been plagued with embarrassment since I was ridiculed as a kid and called Dumbo. But now. I just don't give a damn and I love my ears, earringless and all.
  • I just finished a book called Sugar Daddy and I'm about to start Blue Eyed Devil. If that doesn't scream chic lit I don't know what else would. But I don't care anymore, the book can sit face up in my passenger seat now.
  • I hate driving and I'm horrible at parking. So much so that I try to not drive anyone around if I can avoid it. I know it's lame and mean but I'm so embarassed at my horrible skills that I just get nervous and with that I am no longer embarassed, I'm saying it loud and proud. I suck at parking.

  • I allow pictures like this to stay tagged and up on Facebook. Clearly I have no shame and I won't be embarrassed.

I know there are probably more embarrassing things that I just need to own up to but I can't think of anything at the moment. So yes this is me not being embarrassed.

What about you? Anything you need to stop being embarrassed about.

happy weekend!

The reading machine continues.

In 2008 I read 23 books and this past year I decided to go a little higher. My initial goal was 25 because I thought I'd stay on pace, but oh man did I outdo myself. I read a a lot of books this past year and of course I want to share them and perhaps a snippet or two about them, so here goes...

Lucky by Alice Sebold. After reading both of her fictional works I gave her memoir a shot and I'm glad I did. Although dark in subject, this book is still a fascinating look into Alice's life and the inspiration of her two fictional works.

My Friend Leonard by James Frey. If you liked A Million Little Pieces you might like this book a little bit more. Leaving off where AMLP ending James continues to talk about his life and obviously Leonard's as well and I just thoroughly enjoyed it.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. So many people had told me to read this book and I'm so glad I did. I was so entranced by Sayuri's story I could barely put this book down. It covers such a differnt time and place that it was quite fascinating to read about.

Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger. Three women in their twenties dealing with love and life and I probably could have done without it. I just never really attached to any of the women that much so I wasn't a huge fan.

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. I finally caught up with the female world and read this book and I gotta say, I'm a fan. Although I wanted to smack Becky every time she bought something I still laughed and loved Luke Brandon.

Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger. Much better Lauren. The story revolves around a smarty pants Bette who ends up working at a PR firm at the expense of practically all of her relationships (a la Devil Wears Prada) and of course in the end she gets it right and gets the guy and that's how it should be, haha.

Pobby and Dingan by Ben Rice. Never heard of this book? Yeah I hadn't either. But I enjoyed it so much that it got its own post on the blog.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. From the recommendation of many I read this book. I didn't love it and I didn't hate, it was just eh to me. Maybe I have to be at a different stage in my life to appreciate it but it just didn't click with me so much. Or maybe a movie version will change it all for me? Who knows.

Hot Six by Janet Evanovich. The sixth in the Stephanie Plum series and I couldn't even tell you what it was about, just that I probably loved it as I have loved all of the books in the series so far, you should definitely pick one up and give yourself a good laugh.

Frangipani by Celestine Hitura Vaite. A cute coming of age story of a professional cleaner and her daughter in Tahiti. Simple as that, cute and fun and an easy read.

Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. After failing a mountain climb Greg decides to build schools in rural Pakistan and Afghanistan making his story quite an incredible one. Although it sort of lagged a bit in the middle the story overall is pretty remarkable and worth checking out.

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. Love. This. Book. Who knew I would love historical fiction so much, because I certainly couldn't have predicted it. I was so curious about the actualities that I looked everything up and read about the Tudors and learned more than I ever did in school and the story overall is just so good! Even if the book was a bit longer than most books it was so worth it and so captivating.

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. Oh Nicholas, you write the sappiest and cutest stories. This one was no different in any way. John meets a girl. John gets delpoyed. They write letters. Life goes on without them. Basically sums it up, it was a sweet story but sort of predictable and pretty sad. However I may be convinced to see the movie this year since Channing Tatum is John and he's just dreamy, haha.

Seven Up by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum for the win.

The Namesake by Jhimpa Lahiri. The story follows a Bengali family, the Gangulis, more specifically their son Gogol and the life they try to lead in America. If I recall correctly I enjoyed this book but didn't love it. It was heart warming and fascinating to read a story from that perspective but I feel like the book ended several times before it really did. Nonetheless I was still a fan.

Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum rides again!

Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult. Jodi's newest novel and I definitely had mixed feelings. However it was the first book I fully reviewed on the review blog, so check it out.

Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. Loved this book. And get the full scoop here.

Chocolat by Joanne Harris. I'll always love the movie more but still a good story, read about what I thought here.

Bright Shiny Morning by James Frey. One of my favorite books of the year, if not ever. So yes it got a full review.

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella. Aw Becky and Luke move to Manhattan. And of course craziness ensues and I laughed and it was cute and I yelled at Becky but I still liked it.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult. Yes Jodi, you know how to tear at a girl's heart strings. This book definitely deserved a full post.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Absolutely loved this book, loved everything about it, loved it so much it has its own review as well.

To The Nines by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum to the rescue!

Ten Big Ones by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum yet again.

Growing up in the Holocaust by Ben Edelbaum. My mom gave me this book because it was written by her cousin-in-law's father and wow. Just wow. I don't think I'd ever read first person accounts from the Holocaust and this was definitely an eye opener. So incredibly sad yet amazing and just wow. If you can find this book, definitely read it, it's short but you'll take away so much from it.

Julie and Julia by Julie Powell. As a blogger I felt it was my duty to read this book. And I'm glad I did. It was cute and it was fun, but I didn't love it. I definitely enjoyed the movie a whole lot more and I'm pretty sure it was because I got to see the food instead of envisioning it and there was more of Julia Child's life which was just as interesting I thought.

Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster. Jen's second book about life in the city with her dogs and her husband and all sorts of hilarity. Seriously the footnotes are some of my favorite parts of her books, hilarious.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Another book I was told I had to read. And I feel like I need to read it again. I know there is some major message in that book and I got most of it but after reading it I felt like I was missing something.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Yet another one that had been recommended to me countless times that I feel like I might have to reread again some day. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the book and the story but I just didn't get what I was supposed to take out of it. Maybe it's just me but the story just wasn't as exciting to me as it could have been and yeah, I'm still on the fence.

Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas. Oh such a guilty, guilty pleasure. My best friend recommended it to me and I was hooked. A small town girl gets stuck with her sister's baby and ends up befriending one of the wealthiest bachelors in Texas and everything evolves from there and it's addicting, haha.

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba. I had briefly heard of William's story in the news and I'm so glad I was given this book to review, check it out.

Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella. I think the title says it all. Becky and Luke get married! But of course it doesn't happen without any issues, Becky's antics in this one are just as cute and funny and had me yelling at her just like the other two and I loved it.

The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. Such a good story. Jeanette recounts her childhood living like a nomad with her free spirited parents. Her parents, although sincere in their beliefs, drove me crazy and I'm pretty sure she felt the same way but the stories she tells are just fasinacting and almost surreal, definitely a book to pick up.

The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory. I saw this in the library and had to get it. Although a sort of prequel to TOBG I was just as curious about this story as I was the other. I loved that it switched between 3rd and 1st person and I loved reading Catherine's story even though I knew what her ultimate fate would be. Nice work Phillipa and yes I definitely have The Boleyn Inheritance waiting for me on my night stand, I'm officially sucked in to the Tudors.

Whew, made it. Did you? Haha. So yes those are the books I read last year. So now, what to read this year? I have a couple books already waiting for me but I'm still open to suggestions. Oh and are we friends on GoodReads? Because we probably should be, just saying. Woo reading!

happy thursday!

It's good to have goals.

So last year, for the first time ever, I made resolutions er goals eh both. And looking back on them I actually accomplished something and I did almost every single one of them. I made myself look back at my resolutions in June and surprisingly I was right on track to be where I am now.

I have definitely loosened up in my worrying (yes I still worry every now and then but I'm trying to keep my 'whatever is meant to be is meant to be' sort of attitude); I met more bloggers last year than I could have ever imagined and I can't wait to meet even more this year and re-meet ones I already know; I surpassed my goal of 25 books (which is a whole post for itself, wahoo); Now I'm not a baking master just yet but I attempted more recipes last year than I ever had in my life and I'll be trying just as many if not more this year; As for two vacations with Matt, I'd say we did more than that and they were all loverly.

With such a successful 2009 under my belt, I figure why not try it again and see what I can do in 2010. So here we go...

1. Don't let wedding planning take over my life. Obviously yes it will take up a lot of my time but I don't want it to be my be all end all and take over every aspect of my life and my relationship with Matt and friends and family. Basically I don't want to ever ever hate my wedding.
1.a. listen to ideas and opinions but know I don't have to accept or acknowledge them all. I have a feeling this will also help my sanity.
1.b. don't forget Matt. As in kiss him a lot and listen to his ideas and opinions, it's his wedding too!

2. Blog because I want to and not because I have to. Sometimes I feel like I post the most random stuff that no one would care about (not even me) yet I still hit publish. But after my mini break I realized it's okay if I don't post every day, I'll live, the internet will still be there and I'll have plenty of other blogs to read for inspiration.

3. Become a baking master. I just want to be awesome in the kitchen and the only way I'll get there is to keep on trying.

4. Send snail mail. I used to love getting mail (hell I still do) and I know other people do too! So my goal is to send at least one thing snail mail to someone I know once a month at least.

5. Get fit. Hello half marathon and wedding dress and honeymoon. This means no more frosting on a spoon, popcorn every night, utilizing my awesome Wii Fit and smaller portions dag nabbit.

6. Read 40 books. It's a little ambitious with everything else going on this year but I think I can do it.

7. Bloggers. Hang out with them. Um I think that says it all. Some bloggers are now some of my favorite people to drink wine with so yeah let's keep doing that and if I haven't met you yet, let's change that.
7.a. Non-blogging friends. Hang out with them too. Because I love all my friends, even if they make fun of me for wearing my "Born to Blog" t-shirt, haha.

8. Have fun. I know this year is going to be all sorts of awesome and I just want to have as much fun as I can. So bring it fun, I'm so ready for you.

And that my friends are my resolutions for 2010, not too shabby I'd say. Did you make any?

happy wednesday!

Hollywood adorableness, more Twilight interviews and a sparkly dress.

The first Hollywood post of the year, do you think you can handle it?
  • Starting off this week's cuteness we have the oh so adorable Satyana Denisof, Alyson Hannigan's daughter. Seriously she is all sorts of preciousness and should basically be friends with Seraphina because they're both so adorable.

    aw preciousness!

  • Also in some new year cuteness we have Heidi Klum and her daughter Leni getting ready for some adorable ice skating. Seriously such a cute mommy and daughter duo.

    aw aren't they just adorable.

  • Also in bebeness, Matthew McConaughey and Camilla Alves had a new baby girl, Vida...Kourtney Kardashian showed off a new picture of baby Mason (that mildly freaks me out)...and Kendra Wilson shared a picture of baby Hank on her twitter and umm it's sort of cute and Kendra may or may not be growing on me.

  • Moving on from the bebes and onto some Hollywood happenings...the newest cast of Celebrity Apprentice has been revealed and although I never watch the show I'll be rooting for Curtis Stone, freaking love his show and his cooking...apparently Rihanna has a new man in her life and it's one of my favorite Dodgers, Matt Kemp, not bad Rihanna, not bad at all...Vince Vaughn got married over the weekend and I know there's gotta be a Wedding Crashers joke in there somewhere but I just can't think of it right now..Not like I need any more shows to watch, but one of my favorites, James Van Der Beek, is going to have a recurring role on Mercy, woo Dawson!...and lastly, although not her best look I am quite the fan of Nicole Richie's sparkly New Year's Eve dress, I would totally rock it.

    sooo sparkly.

  • And in Twilight news, I realized that I never shared my interviews with the Volturi and the director Chris Weitz, so here we go.

    interview with the Volturi.

    and chatting with Chris Weitz.

  • In movie news...
NINE. Yes I know I talked about it yesterday but I just have to say that Fergie's song "Be Italian" and Kate Hudson's number "Cinema Italiano" are so freaking catchy I can't stop listening to them.

  • And in TV news....
Brothers and Sisters. So of course Kitty is going to live and it was sort of cute that her and Robert renewed their views but um having her have had a past affair with Anderson Cooper (I'm assuming it was him since they called him the Silver Fox and that is his nickname) was rather random and funny. Also the whole Ryan thing was just annoying, gah he's just annoying in general. That and the whole episode just wrapped everything up too quickly, hopefully they'll go into more detail on next week's episode.

The Mentalist. So have I mentioned my recent obsession with this show??? Matt and I started watching some of it over the summer and then what's aired so far in season two and then Matt got season one for Christmas and we watched the whole thing. Whole thing people, the whole shabang of a fabulous season. And I officially have a new crush on Simon Baker, well newer because I did heart him in Something New and The Devil Wears Prada. But um if you're not watching this show you probably should, like wo.

    so zexy.

Desperate Housewives. Oh what a fun episode to come back to, and check my review over at BSC Reviews.

  • Lastly in today's WTF news, a woman in Ohio started throwing punches at McDonald's employees when they wouldn't serve her chicken mcnuggets. Apparently it's never smart to get between a drunk and her nuggets, haha.

And that's what I've got today, anything I've missed let me know!

happy tuesday!
